NY Times Learns from Scandals, Restores Reputation

(2003-06-09) — The New York Times has learned from its recent scandals and has restored its reputation for integrity with today’s story by James Risen claiming Saddam Hussein had no connection to al Qaeda.
Mr. Risen, apparently working alone, quoted an unnamed source who allegedly read a classified report which included statements from two detained enemy combatants.
“The Times has put its reputation for ‘great shoe-leather reporting’ back on a solid footing,” said an unnamed professor at a major journalism school. “Anonymous government sources leaking classified documents quoting terrorists on national security issues…I smell Pulitzer.”
