Schwarzenegger Mulls Role as ‘Republican’
(2003-07-25) — Arnold Schwarzenegger, the body-builder turned actor, is reviewing a script which would have him play a “Republican” in a California theatrical production scheduled to run over the next few months.
In real life, the actor supports abortion rights, gun control and homosexual causes. But as his agent said, “He’s not a cyborg, but he pretended to be one in the movies. He can pretend to be a Republican as well. Image is everything.”
A quick poll of likely Republican voters in the state showed they would like to see Mr. Schwarzenegger in the role despite his stands on the issues, because “he’s tough-looking and funny and makes it seem cool to be a Republican.”
