Scientists Mistaken About So-Called ‘Master Gene’
(2003-05-30) — Scientists today admitted they were mistaken about identifying the so-called master gene, but they may have discovered the identity of the “Master Gee” from the early-80s rap group Sugar Hill Gang.
“It was an error by a grad student,” said Austin Smith, a scientist at the Univerisity of Edinburgh. “While researching on the Internet, he mistyped his Google search terms, leaving out the letter ‘n’.”
The journal “Cell” will publish a correction next month to the scientific abstract which stated in part:
“I said a M-A-S, a T-E-R, a G with a double E
I said I go by the unforgettable name
of the man they call the Master Gee.”
“This is clearly not the genetic information we were seeking,” said Dr. Smith. “However, our next paper will reveal the identity of the man who is ‘goin’ down in history as the baddest rapper there could ever be’.”
