Sorenstam Paves Way for Women’s Suffrage

(2003-05-24) — Now that Annika Sorenstam has proven she can walk the fairways with the world’s top male golfers, attitudes about women are undergoing a tectonic plate shift. In the halls of Congress, there’s even talk of letting women vote.
“She showed us that women can be strong, and even smart,” said one unnamed Congressional aide. “I don’t think you’ll see a constitutional amendment this year, but women’s suffrage is now almost a foregone conclusion. Annika has paved the way.”
In related news, officials in New Jersey, inspired by Mrs. Sorenstam’s barrier-breaking performance, will consider an ordinance to allow “mixed public bathing” as long as women are “properly attired”.
