(2003-03-27) — French Foregin Minister Dominique de Villepin (who is a man) today placed “a modest wager” on the outcome of the war on Iraq, taking the U.S.-led coalition plus 30,000.
“It’s just a little office pool here at the Foreign Ministry,” said Mr. de Villepin, who earlier in the day refused to tell reporters who he wanted to win the war. “My sources in the chemical industry tell me a kilo of nerve gas is worth several hundred troops. So, I’m hoping the U.S. will beat the spread.”
