(2003-03-06) — Although no one saw it, tonight Saddam Hussein held a news conference to address the concerns of his people, and the global community, about the potential for war in Iraq.
The Iraqi president’s appearance was bumped from TV by previous network commitments to air the U.S. President’s news conference.
Mr. Hussein went on as planned, made brief opening remarks, then fielded as many questions as time would allow. As it turns out, the opening remarks ran a little long-about an hour-leaving no time for questions.
The Iraqi president appeared resolved as he repeated his contention that he has no weapons of mass destruction, and he will use them against any invaders.
