4/11 Truthers Question What Brought Down Texas Stadium

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 14 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2010-04-12) — Before the dust had even settled over the ruins of Texas Stadium Sunday, internet forums and Twitter began to hum with rumors that “4/11 was an inside job”…that the alleged planned demolition was, in fact, a CIA plot.

The iconic domed arena, long-time home of the NFL Dallas Cowboys, collapsed after a series of explosions which Irving, Texas, city officials claim were planned in order to clear the site for future construction.

However, a careful analysis of YouTube videos reveals that the dome began to buckle a full 3/10ths of a second early, according to experts on Twitter. This means, they say, that “someone else destroyed the structure…someone who has an interest in stoking hatred and fostering rivalries within the NFL.”

Comedienne/metallurgist Rosie O’Donnell added her credentials to the growing list of experts who challenge the official version of events, insisting that “no authorities can be trusted to tell the truth as long as forces in our own government, still loyal to George W. Bush, control the global military industrial complex.”

Oh dear, I should go home, pull down the shades and get under the covers. This will not end well.

I was glad to see that eyesore go, personally, it was hideous. Whenever I drove past it, I had to avert my eyes.

    I question the CIA theory.

This has all the earmarks of a terrorist attack by some right-wing nut job.

So, JL3, you live close enough to drive by the site? Frequently? Sorry to hear that you thought it was an eyesore …

"Cowboy" Bush and Dallas Cowboys: Of course, Rosie the Riveter is correct. Quick! Make her a czar of something.

Then again, maybe the blast was a fatwah against pigskins.

The rooftop was a patchwork of various shades of oxidized blue which made it look shabby, in my opinion, and which made me sad, actually; it seemed disrespectful somehow. I live in Arlington and have, over the years (when I couldn't avoid it), driven Loop 12 around the west side of downtown Dallas which goes through Irving. I worked at a sheet metal shop in Irving for a while.

The massive, hulking, intimidater of a mother ship that is the new Cowboys Stadium is about a one-hour walk from where I live. It is right across the street from Wal-Mart on one of the busiest streets in town. The Rangers' relatively new ballpark is a couple of blocks east of that and Six Flags is a couple of blocks down the road from that and Dallas is about 20 miles east of that. Fort Worth is 15 miles west of me. DFW is 17 miles north. Waco is around 120 miles south.

I predict that this census will show Arlington with well over 400K. We're getting quite a face-lift in anticipation of the Super Bowl (endless road construction everywhere, gigantic steel and LED signage looming, water towers getting paint jobs, finally getting some sidewalks [full disclosure: no public transportation], cameras sprouting up everywhere, and so on).
