(2002-12-31) — United Nations weapons inspectors, who have stood guard for years as North Korea developed nuclear capabilities, say they will miss their old jobs, that one described as a “non-stop Communist party”.
“The restaurants, the bars, the companions-we’ll miss everything about this job,” said one inspector with the International Atomic Energy Agency. “I didn’t realize the North Koreans have been violating our treaty all this time, but I can tell you which restaurant in Pyongyang has the best kim-chee. It’s to die for.”
United Nations General Secretary Kofi Annan expressed alarm that the North Korean nuclear program is now unsupervised.
