Hurricanes May Delay Landfall for Palin Speech

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 28 Comments

(St. Paul, Minnesota) — Earlier this week, Republicans pushed back the kickoff of their political rally by a day to make room for Hurricane Gustav. Now, a source the National Hurricane Center in Miami says Hurricanes Hannah, Josephine and Ike appear to be considering a similar move.

“It’s too early to know for sure,” said the unnamed meteorologist, “But I wouldn’t be surprised if the storms backed off, slowed down and delayed landfall, to avoid a head on clash with Gov. Sarah Palin’s big speech tonight in St. Paul.”

The Republican vice presidential choice has a reputation for toughness with grace, from her high school years as a star athlete to her track record as a champion of ethics in Alaska state government. Former Sen. Fred Thompson, in his convention speech Tuesday night, called Gov. Palin “the only nominee in the history of either party who knows how to properly field-dress a moose … with the possible exception of Teddy Roosevelt.

Republican presidential nominee John McCain, upon hearing the news that the hurricanes may postpone their plans to make way for Gov. Palin’s speech, said, “I wouldn’t blame them. I picked Sarah Palin because I fully expect she will change the plans of at least two dangerous blowhards.”

    Superb!

We will see tonight that Governor Sarah Palin of the resource-rich state of Alaska will “field dress the Dem donkey”. (H/T to a HA commenter.

OhBummer is no Paul Bunyan. Nor is he the Second Coming, who walks on water, parts the seas, or drops the sea-level. He is, instead, a snake-oil huckster who panders with “just words,” and he needs a father-figure in Biden to elevate those words with more hot air

From another site - I just couldn’t pass up posting it because it is so funny:

Why so many hurricanes??? Because the Liberal media is flapping it’s left wing so fast that they are going around in circles and causing a counter-clockwise rotation.

  • 3 Maggie // Sep 3, 2008 at 10:45 am

Cat…..sorry to disagree with you….but everyone knows that George Bush and Global Warming are responsible for the hurricanes. And also FEMA, who carried out his diabolical orders.

  • 4 conserve-a-tip // Sep 3, 2008 at 11:00 am

Maggie, sorry, but I like my reason better!! Bush and Cheney will be out of office and we will still have hurricanes, but those liberals will just keep on flappin’.

BTW, do you remember that when Katrina hit, NO was supposed to be hosting a gay festival called Southern Decadence that had to be scrapped as a result? I think that it was Falwell who came out and said that NO had better pay attention because Katrina was a warning from the Lord. Falwell got taken to the woodshed. Well, guess what was supposed to be held this year? And guess what Gustav prevented. I’m just sayin’ ….. ;-)

And here us dumb hicks from up north thought glow-ball warming was all about the sun!! We were looking forward to a little longer “growing season”. Now it looks like we’re due for a mini ice age what with the first the first sunspotless month in a century!! Here are the details…
;-( Oh, and is anyone else having trouble with the U Tube clips being taken down….I can’t access the GOP Feels Celebration Insensitive thread?!

[Note: Video fixed. View it here.]

And, darn (!) I miss FRED!! Thanks for the link to the transcript!! Sounds like it was a good speech!

  • 7 Beerme // Sep 3, 2008 at 11:35 am

    Awesome article, Scott!
I’ve been laughing all week to the shenanigans at PalinFacts.com, where the truth about Sarah Palin will be made known!

  • 8 Beerme // Sep 3, 2008 at 11:37 am

    For instance:
Sarah Palin doesn’t need a gun to hunt. She has been known to throw a bullet through an adult bull elk.

  • 9 Fred Sinclair // Sep 3, 2008 at 11:53 am

I heard some guy on Rush’s program say it - so it must be true, right?

George W. Bush has a mechanical device he uses to steer hurricanes with and the proof is the fact that Crawford, Texas has never, ever had a hurricane hit.

Further proof lies in his receiving the information directly from the “Mother Ship” as it holds it’s position out of sight behind our moon.

So there you have it, boxed, wrapped and tied with a ribbon.

    B.O. STINKS

    Dynamite Scott. Throwing dynamite!

The time for playing nice with the liberals is OVER! Constant Sarah AND Bristol Palin-bashing from the LSM/commietard blogs, lib demons releasing Sarah Palin’s SS#, home address and phone number, and DOB, lying and smears against other Palin family members, street-thug anarchist misfits attacking AND harming RNC delegates, threats to kidnap RNC delegates, black libtard newspaper columnists threatening “race wars” if Obama doesn’t win, Puff Daddy/P. Diddy/whatever crap he goes by now ridiculing Palin and the entire state of Alaska in a profanity-laced diatribe, Chicago-Demon-[deleted] Machine, street-thug tactics to ruin lives and careers…

Yes, I’m angry. I think I’m even angrier now than I was back in 2000 when algore was doing his best to STEAL the Presidential election. And, I’m going on record to say this… anyone who votes democrat is a fascist, a Marxist socialist, a liar, a race-baiter, an obvious sexist, a baby-killer, and an anti-God, anti-American [deleted]. And, sadly, I’m including members of my own extended family in this assessment.

I don’t want to hear about how some “well-meaning, but uninformed” people vote demon-[deleted] because they “aren’t paying attention” or “that’s the way they’ve always voted,” or because their “family has always been lifelong demon-craps,” blah, blah, blah. There’s no longer any room for pathetic excuses, willful ignorance, and the mental laziness of not stepping up to the plate and taking the responsibility of voting seriously. The stakes are too high, and we’re going to lose this country to the evil Left if we don’t start fighting back NOW.

Now behave yourself. You shouldn’t miss a thing since it is Central Time Zone. This misplaced Minnesota gal has to make sure I take all my wake-up pills in order to see everything, including commentary after the speeches have finished

  • 14 Hawkeye // Sep 3, 2008 at 12:19 pm

Too funny, Scott! With all the hot air from the DNC in Denver, no wonder there’s been hurricanes.

  • 15 da Bunny // Sep 3, 2008 at 12:31 pm

I’m sorry Scott, I didn’t realize that I was using a “delete-able” word, since it’s been posted here before. I truly was keeping it “clean,” or at least I thought so. :-)

  • 16 upnorthlurkin // Sep 3, 2008 at 12:58 pm

daBunny, worry not…. a couple of them still made it through….though the replacement I imagined was a bit more shall we say, colorful!! heh!!

  • 17 da Bunny // Sep 3, 2008 at 1:59 pm

upnorthlurkin, nope…pretty much the same as what didn’t get the boot. I’m thinking “context” more than “semantics” is what caused the deletes. ;-)

  • 18 MajorDomo // Sep 3, 2008 at 2:44 pm

    da bunny 12:

Indeed! The way to fix this is to remove Demcrat leadership that support these thugs. The way the system works, though, means that people are going to have to vote OUT their local democrats because the leadership is based solely on the number of Dems/Repubs in each house. We cn get rid of these ugle creeps nce and for all if we can get another majority in both houses. That’s the ONLY way, unfortunately.

PS Just heard Rush quote the idfference between a pit bull and a hockey mom.

“The time for playing nice with the liberals is OVER!”

Awe shucks! I knew it couldn’t last.

Seriously, consider getting some help! Otherwise, I don’t think you’ll make it ’til Christmas. I know that’s important to you, because I can see your love of Christ by the way you treat your many “enemies”, but you’re not so big on this “democracy thing” are you?

c-a-t Re#4: “Falwell got taken to the woodshed.

Interestingly, Obama and DNC operatives who claimed Gustav was God’s way of stopping the Republicans were quoted and cheered by the media. Must be they’ve learned a new level of tolerance; couldn’t possibly be a double standard. Could it?

  • 23 everthink // Sep 3, 2008 at 4:53 pm

Who here can not be shocked that God would allow Gustav to interfere with the personal appearance of George W. Bush at the RNC Convention.

I know that prayer for rain in Denver was only some mocker’s notion of a joke; but, so often you here have said Dumbyah is God’s man.

Maybe the Lord looked deep into Dumyah’s eyes and saw his soul.

Except God did not prevent George W. Bush from appearing at the convention, did he?
Maybe God saw that the middle of the road voters are so stupid that if he allowed George to show up at the convention they would not vote for McCain, and maybe God is pulling for old John, but needs help…
And maybe we are really causing global warming but it is OK because an ice age is fixin’ to overpower us…
And maybe some day everybody will be blessed with a fully functioning brain too. What a day that would be…maybe not.

  • 25 mindknumbed kid // Sep 3, 2008 at 6:32 pm

Poor guy was so excited when Gus headed for NO he nearly peed his Depends, but rats, Gus let him down and the urge subsided. WHEW!!

  • 26 everthink // Sep 3, 2008 at 6:43 pm

“Maybe God saw that the middle of the road voters are so stupid …”

The “middle of the road voters” are the Democrat target group, only we don’t think they’re stupid.

“And maybe some day everybody will be blessed with a fully functioning brain too.”

Sadly, my research indicates, this is not the case. It looks like we’ll have to concede those that remain to the Republicans. I shouldn’t be that many.

Ice age? I think I’m going to have to cut bait on you. Sorry Charlie.
