Please Roman Catholics. Lets’ not start that junk. He may call himself a catholic but he isn’t a Roman Catholic and I should know, I am one. We call his kind Cafeteria Catholics. Being catholic would be at the bottom of his list anyway so don’t slur the rest of us because we have some whack jobs, I am sure if you looked around your own pews you’d find a few.

Random Re#3: Amen! Given the loose definitions we’ve permitted to fall on all religious views, it’s pointless to use broad-brush terms to determine an individual’s faith. Labels may offer clues, but “By their fruits you shall know them.”

With Obama-Biden, it’s important to observe religious Wrights.

  • 5 gafisher // Aug 23, 2008 at 7:54 am

Big deal. The Republicans used a text message to announce its Presidential nomination years ago.

Morning All. This gives McCain abundant fodder for TV ads. This articulate and clean African-American.

It really is comical. Picture them as Astaire & Kelly a la Martin & Lewis performing Mel Brooks’ version of Puttin’ on the Ritz.

No matter how it could possibly be spun, taking into consideration Biden’s own words of recent history, all future/past words of the presumptive Vice-peep candidate must be viewed as insincere at best.

What a match. Peas in a pod, if you ask me; which you didn’t, but there it is.

I predict that it won’t be long before Biden is regretting jumping on that particular Weatherman bandwagon flaming hayride. Sorry, no sympathy.

  • 10 Darthmeister // Aug 23, 2008 at 8:39 am

Biden? … buwahahahahahaha. What a Donk demagogue.

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” - Senator Joseph Biden

I guess you can say that Biden sweet talked his way into the nomination. You can’t make this stuff up!

BTW, how is the most leftist person in the U.S. Senate who sat silently sat in tacit agreement for twenty years in a black nationalist church “mainstream”? Obamessiah coronating the closet racist Biden makes for some delicious comedy … but then braindead Donks are such a joke anyway.

This choice is incredible in that Joe Biden forcefully supported the war in Iraq whereas The One excoriated sHrillary and any one else who supported the war. So why the hypocrisy now? I guess because Biden trash talked the surge as having failed … which makes both these demented Donks wrong yet again! Incredible but not unexpected for a candidate of contradictions and triangulation. It’s been said that the problem isn’t Obamessiah being a flip-flopper … that is, first holding to one position and then moving the second position … but rather he displays a cognitive dissonance in being able to hold to two contrary ideas or principles at the same time! His pick of Biden couldn’t have been his idea but that of his Donk handlers and Obamessiah ended up embracing a war hawk!

Of course Biden now uses weasel words like … if I had known it would have been this difficult or if I had known we were being lied to or if I had known the Bush administration didn’t have a post-war plan … all lies, of course.

Biden’s crowning glory came when he ranted and blathered for twenty-four minutes at Samuel Alito’s Senate confirmation hearing and left Judge Alito only 6 minutes to reply! The man is in love with his own voice. Buwahahahahahaha! Truly a legend in his own mind. But I do have to admit one thing, where Obamessiah generally doesn’t have a clue about what he’s talking about when it comes to national policy, at least Biden has reached first base from time to time.

    Hilarious!

  • 12 Darthmeister // Aug 23, 2008 at 8:49 am

gafisher, I may be a little too nuanced here, but Hoover wasn’t announcing his choice of a VP but rather he was announcing his own acceptance of the nomination.

I think Scott’s point falls well within the realm of parody befitting Demoncrats and bears no parallel among Republicrats … though that day may come.

Keep in mind, if Barack Hussein can’t finish his Presidency, this country will have to suffer through Biden’s twelve hour state of the union messages! I bet the suicide rates will skyrocket even higher.

Biden is an insufferable and arrogant demagogue of the first order, your typical Foghorn Leghorn type of Donk.

  • 13 Darthmeister // Aug 23, 2008 at 8:56 am

BTW, it think it pretty clear that Biden is indeed a cafeteria Catholic. I believe JL3rd’s comments were in line with that truth and that’s how I took it.

In the evangelical world we call people like Biden a “smorgasbord Christian” … you take what you want and ignore everything else in the Bible you personally don’t like - particularly if it engratiates yourself with your whacked out constituents who often don’t have a moral compass either. Remember, Biden also believes in the murder of unborn babies in the name of abortion “choice”. Abortion is a sacrament in the Democratic Church of Obamessiah.

    You couldn’t be more right.
“By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?” Matt. 7:16 (Douay Rheims)

Some people have been led astray - away from God’s Word and have the notion that if they help enough little old ladies across the street, donate enough money, pay their tithe, abstain from adultery, robbery, murder, gossip, etc. that those works are their “fruits”. If they avoid (abstain) from “the works of the flesh” and practice “the fruit of the Spirit”. These works will be proof of their being a Christian. But that’s not what the Bible says:
“For by grace you are saved through faith: and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God. Not of works, that no man may glory.” Eph. 2:8,9 (Douay-Rheims)

The “the fruit of the Spirit” is to be lived but are not the fruits by which they will be known. as with Achaia, his named first fruits are Stephanus, Fortunatus and Achaicus. As the fruit of an apple tree is more apples, fruit of a peach tree is more peaches, etc., etc., - The fruit of a Christian is more Christians. The “Great Commission” was given by Christ to His followers (aka Christians); the Preachers, Priests, Pastors, Elders, Bishops, Deacons, etc. are for the perfecting of the saints - teaching and equipping them to go out and produce more fruit (Christians).

Now the Bible says and I quote:

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest: which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury,
Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects,
Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,
Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.
And they that are Christ’s have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” Gal. 5:19-25 (Douay-Rheims)

“And Jesus coming, spoke to them, saying: All power is given to me in heaven and in earth.
Going therefore, teach ye all nations: baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And behold I am with you all days, even to the consummation of the world. Matt. 28:18-20 (Douay-Rheims)

“And I beseech you, brethren, you know the house of Stephanus, and of Fortunatus, and of Achaicus, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and have dedicated themselves to the ministry of the saints:” 1 Cor. 16:15 (Douay-Rheims)

“For the perfecting of the saints, for the word of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:” Eph. 4:12 (Douay-Rheims)

    The Unbearable Lightness of Biden.

So here’s Obamessiah talking trash about “change” since trumping sHrillary, and then to shore up his own evident lack of gravitas he picks a clear Washington insider who has been little more than a junkyard attack dog while spewing lies about this country needing more “bi-partisanship”. Same ol’ same ol’.

Yeah, that’s “change” alright … in the tupsy-turvy we-like-our-liars-but-hate-your-liars world of moonbats. But hate is a powerful force and the blame-America/hate-Bush lemmings just might be able to hate their way to the White House even with Biden putting his foot in his big mouth every other week. Which goes to prove, the Donks aren’t really the party of peace and understanding but rather a party which wants to hate its way to its own brand of “peace” and power!

Yes, and Cavuto is having a ball mocking the sprawling compound of massive mansions the Biden clan calls home.

  • 22 Darthmeister // Aug 23, 2008 at 11:27 am

There’s a certain irony with Obamessiah’s pick (Ted Kennedy probably picked Biden for Obama if the truth be told) of Biden.

Isn’t Biden the caricature of John McCain that the Obamessiah campaign has been trying to paint the last three or four months?

Can’t wait until the McCain campaign starts running all the video of Biden calling Obama “naive”, “unqualified” and “inexperienced” to be President. Of course now Biden will lie and say after four months on the campaign trail Obamessiah has somehow magically become qualified to be POTUS. He is messiah after all.

  • 23 Reyne1969 // Aug 23, 2008 at 12:07 pm

    Fred,

That was a wonderful post. I would add, we are supposed to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves and need to study God’s Word daily so that He can show us the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, i.e. what the adversary is up to.

We know that some of the Catholic popes, particularly the Borgia popes during the Rennaisance, like many of the Sanhedrin during the time of Christ and of Ezekial, were truly evil men. As believers, we need to go daily to the standard of the Word, so that we can perceive where these things are going BEFORE we are entrapped and enslaved=-===and the great work of the spiriti is to direct the heart. The fruit of the spirit comes by operating the manifestations of holy spirit. The fruit of good works is a different thing.

Interesting to note that until it was brought up, the Obamas only gave 1% of their income to charity-and that to something that was more political than godly. The McCains give 27-28%. God says we owe Him the tithe, as a minimum (Christiains abundantly share—above the tithe) and that He will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. (Which means we can then give more.) Thank you for a posting which blessed me!

  • 24 conserve-a-tip // Aug 23, 2008 at 12:10 pm

Darthmeister, McCain is already on it. Just saw a new ad and it hits hard!

I also heard Biden’s new name, just by accident. I don’t think that Major Garrett realizes what he said either. He called him “O-Biden” It was obvious that he was going to say Obama when he meant Biden and caught himself in the process. It made me think of Scott’s list of vetting questions and whether the candidate had any personally held beliefs that he would be willing to give up for the sake of Obama. Yep. “Vote For Change - Two Senators. Two Washington Insiders. Two Liberals. Two Northern Elitists. Obama/OBiden 2008 ”

Reyne 1969 #25 (& #23) - Not guaranteed but I think it means “On My Death Bed”

About tithing - I’ve heard people say that they ‘gave’ their tithe. To give is a gift and as you pointed out from Mal. 3 it’s what we owe God. A gift, if it’s really a gift, has no strings attached.

So we pay our tithe and add our “gifts and offerings” - In his letter to the church at Corinth Paul wrote, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.) 2 Cor. 9:7 (KJV)

Now most bible translations translate the Greek as ‘cheerful’ giver which isn’t bad but the word is the same word from which we get our word ‘hilarious’ So the verse could accurately be translated - “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a hilarious giver.”

A subtle difference perhaps but I don’t see ‘cheerful’ as carrying the absolute joy, carefree abandon and total pleasure that comes with ‘hilarious’.

Like the old lady down the street with nothing but her SS check when her refrigerator dies. To call Sears and order a new one delivered to her - totally anonymous. A check to Sears and the joy of knowing that God used you to meet a real need. Precious. She will always wonder even though you pass and chat with her every day. Now don’t get me wrong. I didn’t do that, but I once knew a lady who did.

Plus dozens of others over the years as God prospers you to where you can meet real needs. I think that’s where ‘hilarious’ comes in.

    IN GOD WE TRUST

  • 28 Reyne1969 // Aug 23, 2008 at 1:48 pm

An even better post, Fred. And it shows the devvlishness of socialist government programs taking from those who work hard and giving it indisciminately to those who don’t and/or don’t give-and who obviously don;t believe that God is their sufficienccy and get out and move their butts. No man of God ever gave money to a beggar. When Jesus CHrist was moved with compassion, he taught them the Word and sometimes healed them.

Believers gave it to gen;uine men of God who met needs within the household, i.e widows with nio one to care for them. People were responsible for their elderly parents as well as their children and the maintenance of those who served God and His people full time.

If w;e could get some of these liberal (deceived) Christians back to the principles of God’s Word instead of making government p;eople’s sufficiency, we’d teach more people to rise up and fish.

What we freely give is blessed, and

Darth re#35 - I posted this on the quickly abandoned trigger lock thread.

I wonder what is the correlation between poverty stricken precincts and liberal precincts? I’d bet that nearly all of the poor ones are also liberal democrat strongholds.
I grew up in West Virginia, a democrat stronghold, and graduated HS in 1979. The economy there was so dismal that upon graduation I went out looking for work in the chemical plants of the mid-Ohio valley. I had taken a vo-tech course designed to prepare me for such work, and tied for top score in the class. If I had graduated one year earlier the chemical plants would have come looking for me, but in 1979 I couldn’t even get an interview. In 1980 while almost the entire nation was a red state for Reagan, West Virginia (stuck on stupid) stayed with Jimmy Carter. Up until I joined the Air Force in 1986, I only worked about a month in West Virginia as a paid employee (lots of self employment), but in order to work as an employee I had to commute an hour into Ohio. I registered as a republican, not because I knew anything about what the parties stood for, but because my parents were democrats, and so was Mr. Carter. (My folks voted conservative) My maternal grandfather turned out to be registered republican, politics were not really discussed in the family much. One of my fellow grads was a conservative republican, he had some influence on me in those days. Time passing by has revealed to me that even though I didn’t know squat about politics, I registered with the party that matched my views. I still believe that God guided me through my years of ignorance to make the right choices for me.
I am not looking for someone to give me a hand, I am looking for leaders that will just get out of my way. We are over-regulated to death, where is the candidate(s) that will eliminate the strangleholds of regulation? Good grief Charlie Brown we are trying to get them to vote on drilling and as free American citizens it ought to be our right to do so without governmental permission! Let the man with the drilling rig and the landowners decide whether or not to drill a well, not Washinton.

Money may be important in political campaigns, but I have a hunch that in this election the MESSAGE will be the most important aspect. Especially when the Democrats seem to have positioned themselves to lose congressional seats, rather than gain. The Repubs just have to skillfully and deftly keep focus on the MESSAGE.

  • 47 mindknumbed kid // Aug 23, 2008 at 9:28 pm

So in order to assuage the people she is trying to figure out a way to look like she is doing something while coming up with exceptions and exclusions that will keep big oil in check and the money flowing to our “friends” in the mid-east. Will the republicans get snookered, or just cave? I’d like to be more optimistic, but I am learning not to expect too much from Washington.

Water Footprint is in the news. AND of course the US is the biggest offender in using water. I suppose we’re supposed to ship water now to drought regions. (This from Belfast.)

And During the World Water Week conference held in Stockholm this week (17-23 August), the environmental group WWF released a report that demonstrates the extent to which the UK consumes the water of other countries. The concept of virtual water was created by Professor John Allan of King’s College, London, who was awarded the 2008 Stockholm Water Prize for it.

Water Footprint. What does that look like?

This election is getting stranger and stranger. From an email I received from Fred, one of those laws that is being used to question everything is explained as follows:
Barack Obama is not legally a US natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth; a law that was in effect between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, when the law was changed. The new law did not preempt the former law in the cases of those born while the old law was in effect.

Presidential office requires the person elected to be a natural-born United States citizen if the child was not born to two US citizen parents. US law very clearly stipulates: “If only one parent was a US citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.”

Barack Obama’s father was not a US citizen, and Obama’s mother was only 18 when years old when he was born. That means that although Obama’s mother had been a US citizen for at least 10 years, she fails the test for not being at least 21 years of age (five years “after the age of 16″). In order for Obama to be a natural-born US citizen, his mother would have had to be at least age 21 at the time of his birth. Barack Obama should be disqualified as a candidate for the presidency. Failure to do so will set a dangerous precedent.

Furthermore, it must be assumed that Obama is aware of this situation. To knowingly run for president in violation of US election law exhibits a remarkable degree of contempt for the ‘rule of law’. And this from a man whose two primary occupations were “lawyer” and “legislator” (ie, law-maker).

Ya reckon, the Hilldebeast is behind this lawsuit??

Well poey, if I use the whole link it has my full name on the screen. Rats.

Oh well, I am still running.

MsRightWing, Ink: Congrats on the announcement. I just have one question. Judging from the ad at the bottom of the page, are you gently hinting to the OB1 Can-Know-Bees and Biden-His-Time that they might be in for a pair of cement shoes or a date with a chainsaw? You really know how to run a campaign! :-)

I recieved the email from Fred also and wonder if the Democrats have thought of it since they bogged down Bush’s entire presidency with not one but two stolen presidencies. If the idea of an Obama presidency wasn’t so ghastly, I would relish the idea that Obama would be clogged and bogged as a fraudalent President for legitimate reasons.

    Legitimate:
1 a: lawfully begotten; specifically : born in wedlock b: having full filial rights and obligations by birth
2: being exactly as purposed : neither spurious nor false
3 a: accordant with law or with established legal forms and requirements b: ruling by or based on the strict principle of hereditary right
4: conforming to recognized principles or accepted rules and standards
5: relating to plays acted by professional actors but not including revues, burlesque, or some forms of musical comedy; legitimate theater

With little else with which to entertain themselves, the news media appear to be performing an obscure, humorless Shakespearian skit entitled “Gaffe-Uh-Puhleez-Uh” or something like that, which is loosely based on the lamest “reality” show ever produced (take your pick) wherein the principals speak the words “non- or bi-partisan” only as a [hushed aside] no matter the context.

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don’t need you
Don’t go for help . . . no one will heed you
    Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

    That’s right, folks . . .

    Don’t touch that dial

Robert M. “Bob” Shrum (born 1943) is an American political consultant, who has worked on numerous Democratic campaigns. Although he has been part of many non-presidential Democratic campaign victories, he has never advised a winning presidential campaign.

Friday Rush said “I hope he picks Joe Biden,we don’t do a lot of praying on this show but for this we might offer a prayer. ‘Please let them listen to Shrum.’ If Obama will listen to Shrum who is advising him to pick Joe Biden as VP, ‘Biden and the messiah’ - beautiful. He last advised Kerry and before him Gore. Obama/Biden; that would be perfect.” (from Wiki)

HOORAY! PRAYER AGAIN PROVEN TO WORK!!!

My presidential video failed to work in full but I did get the correct one off to Maggie.

I will do the same to virtually tens of people today. Not by some gimmicky text phone doo-dah, but by the power of the Internet

MsRightWing, Ink - 2008!! A Loaf of Bread in Every Kitchen!!

Fred, I just told the family yesterday that I am starting a whisper campaign against Obummer because it is obvious that he is in Limbaugh’s hip pocket! ;-)

That is great, but it has to be homemade since I am running as a fiscal conservative. No $4 a loaf for Americans.

Tipacanoe and Tyler too was the president battle cry of yore. I think 2008!! A Loaf of Bread in Every Kitchen and Tipapot for good soup too.

Not only will I be the first woman president but the first one with the scourge of MS.

Plus my uncle invented the first airliner, umm somewhat.

That makes me a descendant of a Howard Hughes type. Ya, I know I am grabbing for straws here.

Just send your checks for thousands and thousands of dollars. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Plus. there is not even a sign in the cafe window. Oh, the shame of it all.

I would vote for ya Ms. RW but I have already promised my vote to Mr. Scott… but that bread sounds so good.

    Pretty funny!

  • 73 Ms RightWing, Ink // Aug 24, 2008 at 2:30 pm

I know me, I have talked with me but mig, me is no Scott Ott.

Unlike most candidates I will easily give those honorable people who run against me the nod. I too, give Scott the voters high five.

You can easily see I will never win. I’m running just in it for the money. It made the Clintons rich, why not me. :-)

By the way, with fresh herbs putting forth the tempting aromas I have grabbed a handful of wondrous , intoxicating rosemary and will fire up the ovens for some delicious herbal infused bread.

c-a-t #64, I live just a few miles north of that Manchester Grand Hyatt referred to in that link you posted about the loss of our right to dissent. Believe me, the “alternative lifestyle” crowd has been out there in full force protesting that hotel. “Boycott” is their battle cry, which should make any decent person of Faith want to stay there if planning a vacation to San Diego.
