Hillary Lists Non-Assassination Reasons to Keep Running

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 24 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-05-26) — Sen. Hillary Clinton, in a further attempt to distance herself from her recent remarks about Robert F. Kennedy’s White House bid, released a list of other circumstances that provide the rationale for her staying in the race for the Democrat presidential nomination.

Handed to reporters aboard her campaign’s flagship Toyota Prius, the list of “non-assassination incidents that make it worth spending $40 million per month to keep running,” includes the following…

  • unexplained car crash,
  • fireworks accident,
  • poisoning by household chemicals,
  • falling from ladder through plate glass,
  • drowning in bathtub,
  • bad reaction to tattoo,
  • choking on bolus of high-fiber cereal,
  • YouTube stunt gone awry, and
  • any number of fast-acting toxins inadvertently inhaled, ingested or even touched for a few seconds.

“My entire campaign has been built around the premise that I’m ready on day one,” said Sen. Clinton. “The fact that I have thought through this list demonstrates that I’m ready even sooner.”

    Dear Lord,

    Lest I continue

    My complacent way,

    Help me to remember

    that somewhere,

    Somehow out there

A man died for me today.

As long as there be war,

    I then must

    Ask and answer

    Am I worth dying for?

Eleanor Roosevelt (I found this at Claire's blog http://kneedeepinthehooah.blogspot.com/
I say this prayer every day.

    Thank you all.

Obama should watch out for sudden appearing asteroids bearing laser guided projectiles. Sorry, I watched Indianer Jones and Iron Man at the Drive-in last night and my head is full of 24th century weaponry.

My sincere gratitude to all our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day. In particular, the four most recent recipients of the Medal of Honor; Jason L. Dunham, Michael A. Monsoor, Paul R. Smith, and Michael P. Murphy.
May God comfort your loved ones.

I meant to ask if anyone knew where that little prayer came from, but my post seems to be lost…

ot - I wish everyone a Happy Memorial Day, especially any and all who have served in our Armed Forces. Thank you for your service. As you drive today, keep in mind…..

John McCain just said last night on Hannity & Colmes, “I voted against drilling for our oil in ANWR because I don’t want it’s pristine condition disturbed.”

Now I’ve got to vote for this yo-yo* since he’s SLIGHTLY less of a yo-yo* than the only option; (be it Mrs. and Mr. HillBilly, Inc. or Mr. B. Hussein Obama).

An oilman, being interviewed by phone on Rush Limbaugh’s show, described the area where they want to drill in ANWR as likened to the size of a football field - located in Rhode Island. Or in other words “a minuscule dot”.

The recent placing of polar bears (which are currently more numerous than ever before recorded and their numbers continue to increase exponentially) on the endangered species list is nothing more than a political ploy to further hinder oil drilling in ANWR. The polar bears are not in the slightest bit of danger!
So the next time you fill the gasoline tank of your vehicle and pay over $4.00 per gallon, you should (even though you won’t) contact your “hired hands” in the Senate and House of Representatives to let them know that they are working against your best interests and you plan to use your vote to help fire them.

    *yo-yo |ˈyō ˌyō|
    noun ( pl. -yos)
a toy consisting of a pair of joined discs with a deep groove between them in which string is attached and wound, which can be spun alternately downward and upward by its weight and momentum as the string unwinds and rewinds.
    • [often as adj. ] a thing that repeatedly falls and rises again :the yo-yo syndrome of repeatedly losing weight and gaining it again.
    • informal - a stupid, insane, or unpredictable person.

Don Corleone : “You talk about vengeance. Is vengeance going to bring your son back to you, or my boy to me? I forgo the vengeance of my son. But my youngest son had to leave this country because of this Sollozzo business. So now, I have to make arrangements to bring him back safely, cleared of all these false charges. But I’m a superstitious man. And if some unlucky accident should befall him … if he should be shot in the head by a police officer, or if he should hang himself in his jail cell, or if he’s struck by a bolt of lightning, then I’m going to blame some of the people in this room … and that, I do not forgive. But, that aside, let me say that I swear, on the souls of my grandchildren, that I will not be the one to break the peace we have made here today.”

Personally, I have to vote McCain for two reasons. (1.) His stand on the war, terrorists, etc. (2.) The very high probability that there will be one or more emptied seats on the bench of the SCOTUS and I for one, do not want a flaming liberal making any nominations to fill vacancies on that (or any other) court. Either of the Democrats will stack the court with fruit-loop liberal judges in their own mold. If that happened, I could never forgive myself for not voting.

President Bush nominated Janice Rogers Brown to the Federal Appeals Court, Washington D.C. and it took over three (3) years for her to get confirmation. A piece I picked from another blog details with quotes from her why I want her to be a SCOTUS judge.

    Janice Rogers Brown Confirmed 56-43
One more post before I go on hiatus. I just heard via an e-mail from the Senate Republican Conference that California Supreme Court Justice Janice Rogers Brown was confirmed to the D.C. Circuit by a vote of 56 to 43. Quotes from the e-mail:

“Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible.”
    - CA Justice Janice Rogers Brown

“We no longer find slavery abhorrent. We embrace it. We demand more. Big government is not just the opiate of the masses. It is the opiate. The drug of choice for multinational corporations and single moms; for regulated industries and rugged Midwestern farmers and militant senior citizens.”
    - CA Justice Janice Rogers Brown

“The quixotic desire to do good, be universally fair and make everybody happy is understandable. Indeed, the majority’s zeal is more than a little endearing. There is only one problem with this approach. We are a court.”
    - CA Justice Janice Rogers Brown

“Government is the only enterprise in the world which expands in size when its failures increase.”
    - CA Justice Janice Rogers Brown

“The public school system is already so beleaguered by bureaucracy; so cowed by the demands of due process; so overwhelmed with faddish curricula that its educational purpose is almost an afterthought.”
    - CA Justice Janice Rogers Brown

MD #15 - Somewhat akin to having to decide…….”I’m about to smack the brains out of your head.Soooooo (1.) I have here a 3lb. sledge. (Obama); or, (2.) I have a 22oz. Ball Peen hammer (HillBilly); OR (3.) a 14oz. Ball Peen hammer (McCain).

Now to demonstrate how considerate and compassionate I am…..You may vote for the hammer of your choice.”

Wouldn’t that just make you feel so very spechul?

It makes me want to take on a hired hand who will ride the horse I say to ride, mend the fences I want mended and obey my orders - not running off to the back 40 as a maverick, doing his own thing!!!

    O/T:
Recently, I found it interesting that McCain would distance himself from John Hagee for what the media said he said, even though he never said it.

I’m not all that surprised that McCain would allow himself to be a tool manipulated by bigots; what bothers me is the negative impact this misinformation has on the world’s perception of the Bible and Christianity.

As I’ve said before, I’m no John Hagee fan, not because of what he preaches, but basically because of his preaching style. Anyway, if you’re interested, here’s a realistic (not motivated by ignorant, anti-Christian vitriol) POV regarding the so-called “controversial remarks” of Hagee.

Leave aside for a moment the fact that Hillary’s statement was pretty tasteless, this is another example of Obama’s campaign being way too “sensitive” about everything. What is Obama going to do if elected… start telling our enemies he’s “offended” by what they’ve said? Sheesh!
