America’s status as “the land of opportunity” can be proved by this single fact: Frank Rich gets paid to write columns for The New York Times.

In other nations, a man with no rationality, no moral perspective, no sense of justice nor fairness, would find it nigh on impossible to rise through the ranks to such a lofty perch. He might be able secure work as a mid-level propagandist for a communist regime or fascist dictatorship, but to parade in public as a man of thought and reason — one of a handful of opinion-shapers for “the paper of record” — would have to remain a dream if he didn’t possess the great gift of U.S. citizenship.

His Sunday, May 4, “Op-Ed” column in the Times (The All-White Elephant in the Room), for example, attempts to liken Sen. John McCain’s endorsement by a couple of TV preachers, with Sen. Barack Obama’s 20-year relationship with his pastor, the race-bating Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

I find the references to Wright as BO’s “former” mentor ridiculous.
BO is actually trying to give the impression (since he has yet to repudiate hatred of White people and America and Israel—allowing the story to be distracted by AIDS or 9/11) that he has tossed 20 years of “mentoring” and is no longer influenced by anything whatsoever that Wright has ever said.
As to the ludicrous Hagee/Wright comparison, I’m not going to defend Hagee, I don’t watch him because of the incessant pauses to pan the audience who is applauding on cue. But I’ll say this: Hagee’s arguments regarding Catholicism (which is apparently what makes his endorsement “evil”) are Biblically based, whereas, Wright is totally making stuff up.

Brilliantly written, Scott! :-) Your work is so good it’s unfit to print in the liberal mediocrity known as the NYT, which continues to “lower the bar” by printing nonsense from morons like Rich and that imbecile, Paul Krugman.

There you go again da Bunny….saying what I want to, before I am able! (Cue the Twilight Zone music!)

IIRC, didn’t Senator Obama used to claim that his “right from the beginning” opposition to the Iraq war was evidence of his “good judgement” ?

What, pray tell, does Barak’s 20-year sojourn at Trinity United tell America about his “judgement” ?

    Just askin’ …

I found Howard Dean’s explanation as to why the Democrat party has been boycotting FOX for years just a bit comical.
    FOX News is biased. heh

What does it say about judgment, remaining a faithful member of the democratic party? Their whole objective these days is to “change” America into a nation that the founders would absolutely abhor, even one that is inferior to the one they fled in order to establish the great nation which we were given, yet I regret to say we are failing to preserve. How much do we credit to ignorance and how much is due to pure evil? God help us.

    Another great one, Scott!

“America’s status as “the land of opportunity” can be proved by this single fact: Frank Rich gets paid to write columns for The New York Times.”

It also proves that a person is free to exhibit his stupidity for all the world to see…and laugh at!

Ouch Scott! Remind me never to get you annoyed at me… Very well written, indeed! And I think you're right. It's about time we enter the race discussion. (But can the Dems handle it?)

    Follow-up from a previous thread:
    It was Nixon.
It took me a while, but it was driving me nuts and I just HAD to know.
I have never had such a hard time finding a piece of information (and it makes no difference which search engine I used).
So, here on the USGS website I found this reference, “…..After the United States deregulated gold in 1971…..” which isn’t really specific enough for my tastes, but I’m going to drop it for now.
So, obviously, I was wrong about it having been JFK who deregulated the price of gold (heck, I was only 11-12 at the time). I guess I just remember gold being in the news at the time.
    Thank you

The land of opportunity…it’s a beautiful thing!

While countless Mexicans dance in the streets of the USA celebrating the 5th of May, we Americans have something of real significance to remember:
Forty-seven years ago today, astronaut Alan Shepard became the first American in space. He launched aboard his Mercury-Redstone 3, named Freedom 7, to make an historic 15-minute suborbital flight.

I think I have deciphered BO—he’s an imbecile.
Here’s some proof and here, too.

And I, for one, feel much safer as a result. Thanks!

JL3: That first picture that the Alan Shepard link takes you to is quite impressive. I came along about 17 years after Shepard’s flight, but that pic almost makes you feel like you were there.

Scott: I co-sign da Bunny’s post at #2. I think I’m going to post that opening line on my Facebook :)

    Thank you, Scott.
I know you have better things to do than moderate links and such—I appreciate your efforts, I know it can get time-consuming—I do try to keep them to one per because I think it’s kind of rude to overdo it (not in the original post, of course, but in the comments).
