Obama to Disown Pastor If Hillary Dumps Bill

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 107 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-03-27) — Sen. Barack Obama, the Democrat presidential front runner, today reiterated his intention to stand by his controversial pastor despite his presidential rival’s remarks that she would have left the church where the Rev. Jeremiah Wright preached racially-charged, anti-American messages.

“I could no more disown my hateful, racist, self-aggrandizing, crazy uncle of a pastor,” said Sen. Obama, “than Hillary Clinton could quit her deceitful, adulterous, self-aggrandizing husband. But if a purging must happen to unite this divided party, I say to my esteemed opponent, ‘You first, Hillary. You first.’”

Sen. Clinton said this week that she would have quit Trinity United Church of Christ, noting that “you don’t choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend.”

“Apparently, Sen. Clinton was not only victim of an unfaithful husband,” said Sen. Obama, “but also the victim of an arranged marriage — stuck with a husband she did not choose.”

Obama: “I could no more disown my hateful, racist, pastor, than I could disown my typical white grandmother… but as for throwing them both under the bus? Well, that’s OK by me. And as long as we’re at it, why not throw Hillary under the bus too?”

“Apparently, Sen. Clinton was not only victim of an unfaithful husband,” said Sen. Obama, “but also the victim of…..”

Both she and her husband are victims of a severe case of Liberalism. Currently the survival rate of this disease is zero.

The fact is that nobody gets out of this life alive. So it stands to reason that every liberal shooting their mouths off today is going to wind up dead.

Of course the same can be said of us Christians with the exception that when we die, we do so with God’s promise of Heaven. With Obama’s “Hope” sermons, that’s the one thing he doesn’t have.

One does not have to be a Christian to be a Conservative but Scripturally, it is impossible to be a Christian and not be a Conservative. Since a Christian would not favor, promote or condone abortion nor favor, promote or condone homosexuality (which God says is an abomination)

Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

Lev. 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
Lev. 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Repentance (as in BO renouncing his Allegiance to Bigotry) is not in the Uber-Liberal/Leftist/Socialist repertoire.

For the sake of comparison I would like to draw attention to the interesting remarks of John Sydney McCain III, regarding a variety of topics, yesterday.

  • 8 Possumtrot // Mar 27, 2008 at 2:13 pm

I used to manage a pool guessing when Hillary might divorce Bill, based upon his infidelites.

It’ll never happen. I know a bit about marital discord, but despite her hurling of White House ashtrays and other flatware, Hilly ain’t leaving Bill. He is her stairway to the stars.

McCain is looking better all the time. I see two rabid wolverines tearing at each other on one side, and a tired old man on the other.

I am a tired old man. I may have to re-think my decision to vote against McCain, based entirely on the look upon Hillary and Obama’s face when America stands for something they don’t understand.

Live above the flood waters from Scorpion Hill…

    Brilliant, as usual, Scott! :-)

When referring to Rev. “J Wright” or Slick Willie, “self-aggrandizing” just scratches the surface. And, since I’m married to a man of 100% Italian heritage, I can assure the racist bigot “J Wright” that his “garlic-noses” comment didn’t sit well with my husband. I guess Obama thinks that such terms are OK…or maybe he “wasn’t there” for that sermon, either. [yeah...right!!]

And then, I hear John McCain making some “interesting remarks”, and I conclude that what I really need to do is find a rock to hide under for the next 4½ years or so …

Off Topic, I am really perplexed about the banks that are having trouble with a lot of their loans, I hear talk of people “biting off more than they can chew” and we all know it to be a fact. But I myself am in the market for some extra funds at this time, so I first tried clicking some online ads and putting in the amount I desired to borrow. I was not allowed to ask for the amount that I needed for a home equity loan because “my first mortgage balance was too low” what? Too low? Yes, owning your home free and clear is a bad thing I guess. So I lied and said I owed $5000.00, not enough either. I tried clicking on a mortgage instead and asked for an amount about 15% of the homes’ value, not enough to interest them. So for fun I went up to about half of it’s value, finally that was “enough” to interest them. So I went to my local banker and ran things by her, yes I am getting about 33% more than I want or need, and so long as there is no penalties for early or extra payments, my first payment will be about a week after I get it so I can “return” the amount I don’t need. But I will get 1.5% lower interest rate on the loan….still makes me think their game is to try to saddle a person with more than they can handle. Doesn’t make a lick of sense to me.

I’ll have to include a large pot ( 55-gallon drum will do nicely) of boiled Alaskan Jumbo shrimp and an unending parade of large platters (or salvers - if you prefer) of Fried Green Tomatoes.

As an add-on I’d like to tack on as appetizers, bowls of boiled African Jumbo peanuts (believe me - they’re grrreat! - as Tony would say)

Think SCOTUS, McShame really “needs” to be the next president. Can’t even imagine what kind of nominees the two nitwit demonrat so-called candidates would come up with, if either of them wins the big ticket it is not going to be good. It isn’t something that you can undo by getting it right next time. It will be lasting damage, I am asking everybody that is having a hard time voting for John to go out and vote against the harm a couple of leftwing liberal nutcases on the court will mean to America.
And I really hate having to write such a piece, but it is too important to leave it unsaid.

  • 25 Fred Sinclair // Mar 27, 2008 at 8:13 pm

mkk #17 - Doesn’t make sense to me either or any other conservative. No more than the absence in banks today of the Simple Interest loans I remember as a kid. There are no monthly payments and you have the entire amount for the full year. Since for a farmer, there is no monthly income. There’s only the payoff when the crops are harvested and sold.

For the benefit of the younger Scrapplers, who have never even heard of such a loan. My father made several Simple Interest loans: Example: You borrow $1,000.00 on March 27th, 1944 at 3.2% annual interest. You leave the bank with the One thousand and go about your business. Exactly one year later, you go back into the bank and lay down $1,032.00 and walk away.

    $32.00 = 3.2% x $1,000.00 x 1 year

Of course I imagine the interest rate is probably higher today. When the farmers began leaving the farms for factory jobs in the city, these type of loans became outmoded.

mkk, I sincerely doubt the premise of #23. Those who see through the Clinton smokescreen can’t stomach the Slick One, but he still draws a crowd. I think dumping Bill would cost Hillary more votes among the Bill groupies than it would win her among her political fellow travelers.

  • 27 mindknumbed kid // Mar 27, 2008 at 8:26 pm

gafisher - you could be right about Bill, but I am thinking people are tired of the Clinton’s, and that many think she should have dumped him over the Monica thing, and that it would show some “new” independent kind of a cHillary. After all, voters are hungry for “change”. I know the whole thing could go either way, and nobody can say for sure.

The point has always been, Madame, you say you believed him for what, a year, and then you were shocked, shocked, when he told you the truth as the blue dress proof was forthcoming. And how could anybody with half a brain, knowing the big He’s history, having been the bimbo eruption manager, how could anybody not suspect he was guilty as sin?

If she knew early on, then she’s a liar; if she found out when she said she did, she’s a dangerously obtuse person to elevate to the Oval Office.

  • 29 mindknumbed kid // Mar 27, 2008 at 8:36 pm

Fred - My old bank in West Virginia would do 30 to 90 day notes, maybe longer ones. I used to go in for 1000 or 1500 dollars for 30 days, was all on a signature. If you ended up needing it longer (I never did) you could just do it over again (probably had to pay the interest amount) and there wasn’t a problem. When I moved back to South Dakota my credit rating plunged, for no reason other than the move, but I found out also that none of my borrowing was recorded on my credit score, I hag had and paid off four loans in five years, all under 10K, but there was no record of it.

mkk-a few years ago, the bank which held our mortgage called and asked us to come in and sign some papers. I said, what sort of papers. The guy said, it’s a procedural thing. I said, please explain in detail.

Reluctantly, he told me that he wanted us to come in and resign our loan document from five years earlier. Why, I asked. I finally got him to admit that the bank had somehow lost or shredded our original loan document.

So, he said, can you and your wife come in to sign a new mortgage. I said, what mortgage are you talking about. Dead silence. I thought the guy was goiing to have a heart attack, so I said, sure, we’ll come in, but what are you going to do to compensate us for the hour or two all this takes-studying the documents, etc.?

So we signed, and now we have a free home equity credit line for life. I probably could have gotten a toaster, too, but I didn’t want to push it.

I just saw the headline on yahoo, “Obama would have left if Wright had stayed”, right. Just how stupid are we supposed to be here? How pathetic! I guess he is trying to tell as big of whoppers as cHillary. Yet, there are American voters out there reading that headline and all you will hear are big ole slurping sounds all across the country. 60 or so years ago even backwoods people with little or no education wouldn’t buy anything so rediculous. But oh my, we are such an enlightened people now that blatant lies are swallowed and no one thinks twice about it.

Meanwhile, Obama will try to hide the racist he is, but can he shut his wife down for the duration? The media is killing Hillary’s chances with death by a thousand video/sound bites and after that it will be Obama and McCain getting all the media scrutiny. We can wish that the Democrat party is irreparably torn asunder by Hillary and Barak, but it looks like both the House and Senate will go left so McCain is the least of the three evils we face although it still isn’t all that palatable.

prettyold #31 - 90% taxes? I heard a talk by Bob McEwen, he was on the subject and noted that by law, in India, a person who makes $5,000.00 in one year, is legally “wealthy” and any earnings over $5000.00 is taxed at 95%.

Naturally the government is at a loss to understand why persons working with modern stuff will work on the internet, etc. make $5,000.00 in the first month or two and then spend the rest of the year playing Mah Jong under the local Banyan tree. To be honest, I find it disgusting that no one dares call him on it. I daresay the reason for avoidance of this issue is a lack of understanding by the media of Spiritual Matters. BO tap-dances, the MSM tip-toes.
Forget BO’s former pastor, that church’s mission statement is nothing but Blatant, Hysterical, Hate-Driven Racism.

There is nothing “Christian” about that place.

Surrender? That’s not possible, the “mission” was “accomplished” years ago. Would have been better to leave then but better late than never.

How many soldiers dies in Germany/Japan/Korea after those “missions” were “accomplished”?

Korea’s ongoing, but all three of those were wars, not missions. Wars are typically comprised of many missions.

We have a military because there are some people that are not interested in civility, decency, peace, and a list of other things that make life good for living. If you think for one minute that the folks behind 9/11, people like S. Hussein, Yukkidinnerslob, and such are going to simply go away and let freedom, peace, civility, justice and the other good things we have enjoyed here in America, you are also a danger to our way of life. For to long we sat back acting as though we could talk some sense into wicked evil Godles tyrants that do not respect life. OUr nation could get more things accomplished if there was a lot more fear of us in the hearts and minds of hateful, Godless, power-crazed, thug “leaders” all around the globe. Diplomacy may have helped resolve a few maters in the past, but for the most part it just ended up showing our willingness to tolerate things that ought not be tolerated. You don’t have to be a bully, but when you are weilding a big stick and show a genuine willingness to use it, people respect the stick and conform to your standards of civility. You can’t go back and fix past errors, but it was high time that we put our foot down on the radical jihad loving murderers and their brutal sub-human tactics. The libs say we are alienating the rest of the world, they don’t like us….well, if they were shown some goodreasons to respect us it would help their attitudes immensely. This war may look better to you quit and go home folks after you are bowing to Allah - with a knife to your throat.

I think Tom Petty’s song, I Won’t Back Down ought to be President Bush’s theme song. I think it ought be America’s at war or “conflict” song. I think too many Americans are too cowardly or maybe “guilt-ridden” to stand up and draw a line in the sand. I think most Americans don’t even understand what the result of doing that would be. I think America is in grave danger, not from the liberal politicians, but from our unwilingnes to stand for our historical principles and strength of character.

Ok, I just watched the interview of Obama on the view and I must say Ms. Hassleback (SP?) is a brave young conservative woman alone in a very liberal stage (although I must admit I have been very surprised at some of the conservative things that Whoopi has said) She is the only one that actually asked hard questions to Obama, and I think Obama actually answered her fairly well. It is the first time I heard Obama say that had Rev. Wright still been the pastor of his church he would remove himself from that church.
The hard questions I want someone to confront him with is:
    1. Do you agree with, sympathize and support the Liberation Theology that Rev. Wright preaches, written book about and speaks of? (Please google Liberation Theology, that’s where the hate comes form towards our country)
    2. How come you have meetings, business dealings, financial dealings and have as part of your campaign know and avowed terrorists that are part of the Weather Underground. Same that said after 9/11 that they didn’t go far enough themselves in bombing buildings. Same that should be in federal prison for life if it weren’t for a technicality with a proper wiretapping subpeona by the FBI.
Some one in our media that is widely watched needs to ask these hard questions and the answers need to be answered directly without fancy speeches. One thing we all know about Obama is he is very smooth, very articulate, speeks well and of course is very intelligent. Nobody can really tell us, what has he accomplished in the past?
What we do know, he is rated as the most liberal senator. As much as I always say anybody but Hillary, we can’t afford Obama either.
One of the first things he said he would do if elected President is (paraphrasing) gather the Joint Chiefs of Staff and pull out. In otherwords cut and run.
We need to get out of Iraq, but we must do so in victory, if no other reason than to give honor to thoses that served, bled and died for this war. This would be a wound that would be far worse than the Viet Nam debacle of which wounds from that still have not healed.

    Peace,

That way they can take our 5% and divide it with the 95%, in short time they will die of starvation, 9th century inter-tribal feuds, disease, wars with China, etc., etc. The cockroaches and rats bwo evolution, will duplicate everything we have today in only a few hundred billion more years.

Christians in China and the USSR being treated better than Marxists here in America? What a load of garbage! There isn’t a lick of salt in such religion, therefore it is worthless. It is blatant lies and distortions, it has drank the koolaid in excess and is now drunken and incapable of discerning God from Satan. I suppose that if you take God out of religion, then it is no doubt true that you would have mo trouble practicing you “religion” anywhere in the world. Their religion is an abomination to Christ, to defend the Monica Lewinski ordeal is illustrative of how perverse they are, and it is this perverseness is precisely what will lead to a nation losing God’s blessings. Even the United States of America.

bubba - re #80 we wouldn’t need to use the big stick much if at all, provided that we kept it in our hands, ready for use. Being a powerful Christian nation does carry with it an awesome responsibility, which we have failed to live up to, it may sound a bit arrogant, but there are things that we as good citizens should not tolerate, we were wrong to support Sadam in the early years and turn a blind eye to his brutality, murdering, and evil governance. That is just one example of how and where we have been wrong. Tolerating such evil governing only leads to larger problems down the road, it may be hard to comprehend, but we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. I don’t have time right now to post Philippians 6: 13-18, you might want to find a bible (God’s written word) and read through it. It is applicable to both individuals and nations.

bober, you continue your enforced ignorance of the “mission accomplished” statement. Officially, it was a banner merely making a very true statement that the mission of the aircraft carrier in question was indeed accomplished.

Second, Saddam’s regime was defeated in less than six weeks from the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom (please note, it was Operation Iraqi Freedom and not simply Operation Iraqi WMD) … mission accomplished.

Now it may have been unanticipated by some in the Pentagon or the Defense Department, but victory in Iraq against Saddam’s regime (and honest historians in the future will document it was indeed a spectacular victory) did not mean final victory regarding the overall War on Islamic Terrorism (or War Against Islamofascism or War Against Terror or War Against Terrorism, or as John “Breck Girl” Edwards opined … The Bumpersticker War) was accomplished. Keep in mind, President Bush himself warned that as long as we encountered Islamic radicalism, there indeed could be a generation of war.

Now here’s the headsup about what has really been happening in Iraq. Here is a general listing of the different phases and outcomes of the very complex battlefield in Iraq:

    1) Quick and spectacular victory in ousting Saddam’s regime.

    2) Al Qaeda decides to take a stand in Iraqi resulting in our troops expanding the larger war against al Qaeda and Muslim terrorism. Presently al Qaeda in Iraq is little more than an historical footnote though that conflict eventually led to …

    3) … the war against Islamic sectarianism. Both the war against al Qaeda and Islamic sectarianism ran somewhat concurrently for about two years. The Petraeus surge pretty much destroyed both forms of Islamic radicalism in Iraq. As it turned out, after the fall of Fallujah, many foreign fighters carried faked Iraqi ID and were being reported by the liberal global media as being “insurgents” when they were indeed foreign members of al Qaeda, Chechnyan militias, Saudi jihadists, et al.

    4) Now our troops are supporting Iraq’s nation army against Shia militias, more specifically, Mookie al-Sadr’s nutbag militia groups. But apparently Mookie and his boys have now had their fill of getting their arses handed to them and al-Sadr is now asking that his supporters confine themselves (and their AKs, RPGs, etc) to their mud huts. Another conflict in a very complex military and political war that U.S. forces have or are winning.

Now contrast that with the mayhem that’s presently going on the Democratic Party itself. Hmmmmm. The Democratic Party can’t even declare peace among themselves much less come up with a plan to effectively deal with all the various radical Islamic components in Afghanistan and Iraq.

What this demonstrates is not the incompetence or so-called miscalculation of President Bush or the ineffectiveness of American troops fighting radical nutbags, but rather just how radical Muslim societies truly are. It’s better we find this out now than later when Islamic radicalism would have been much stronger and pervasive if it had gone unopposed for the next decade or two.

People on your side of the aisle have impotently whined that “Bush has made it safe for Islamic radicalism by bringing democracy to Iraq”. Well, what would you people have in Iraq instead of democracy, a benign dictatorship, Islamic totalitarianism, a parliamentary theocracy, or possibly you actually believe things in Iraq were and would have been much better under Sodamn Insane, eh?

If the Iraq people prove to be unworthy of real democracy, then its far better we find that out now than later. At least they were given a chance. It may be entirely possible that like the Palestinian people who elected Islamic thugs to be their guiding light the Iraqi people may end up doing the same thing. If so, then we’ll know that Muslim societies are so inherently violent and depraved that the next time one acts up we simply drop a nuke on them and be done with the Islamic riff-raff. Otherwise it was incumbent upon the free world (though the Euroweenies -exclusive of the more principled Brits - essentially abdicated their responsibility) to give the people of Iraq as well as Afghanistan the opportunity to see if they can handle the responsibilities of democratic and free society. If not, then it will be the free world’s duty to see that their Islamic fascism, their desire for a global Islamic caliphate, and their 12th Imam are thrown on the ashheap of history.

Here’s some Context for BO, his Anti-American Ilk and the rest of the Obsequious Narcissists:

“Wo to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye are like to whitewashed sepulchres, which outwardly indeed do appear beautiful, and within are full of bones of dead men, and of all uncleanness; so also ye outwardly indeed do appear to men righteous, and within ye are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”
    ~~Matthew 23:27-28

I remember a saying of golden-mouthed Chrysostom, “If I were,” said he, “the fittest man in the world to preach a sermon to the whole world, gathered together in one congregation, and had some high mountain for my pulpit, from whence I might have a prospect of all the world in my view, and were furnished with a voice of brass, a voice as loud as the trumpet of the archangel, that all the world might hear me; I would choose to preach on no other text than that in Psalm 4:2, O mortal men, how long will you love vanity, and pursue a lie?” So I say, had I Chrysostom’s tongue, head, and heart, and were I every way advantaged to preach a sermon to the whole world, I would choose to preach on this text before any other in the Bible, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” [Hebrews 12:14]
    ~~Thomas Brooks, 1662

    Thank you

  • 106 Hawkeye // Mar 31, 2008 at 7:20 am

    OLA #97,
People make mistakes all the time, for which they are “punished”. If you stick your fingers into an open light bulb socket you are liable to get “punished” with 115 volts. If you put your hand on a hot griddle, you are liable to be “punished” with a blister or two. Hopefully, we learn from our mistakes and teach our children to avoid them because they can be painful.

The problem with Obama’s statement IMO, is that he wants to eliminate the consequences of making a mistake. He advocates making mistakes “painless”. He’s abdicating his role as a parental teacher. Instead of teaching his children discipline and mistake avoidance, he’s advocating the “Get Out of Jail Free” card.

But then, most libs do that, don’t they?

  • 107 Hawkeye // Apr 1, 2008 at 11:52 am

I should probably clarify my last statement. I do not believe that “children” are a punishment for the mistake of teenage sex. If a teenager has a child, the “punishment” lies in the loss of freedom, the burden of responsibility, and the need to grow up a lot faster than might otherwise be required.

antidrug hymn — singing hymns can do that sometimes.
