NY Times to Break Non-Racial Story about Obama

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 25 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-03-21) — Unnamed sources at The New York Times said today that the paper is about to break what could be its first major story about Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama that has nothing to do with race or racism.

If true, an expert at the Columbia School of Journalism said, the Times would be “breaking new ground in the mainstream media coverage of the campaign, and demonstrating that ‘The Gray Lady’ still sets the agenda for other journalists to follow.”

The revelation of the potential non-racial story comes on the heels of…
> Mr. Obama’s endorsement by the nation’s only Latino governor, Bill Richardson, of New Mexico, and after
> more than a week of headlines about racially-charged remarks by Sen. Obama’s pastor, followed by
> the candidate’s Martin Luther King-like speech which faced American racism head on, and after
> former President Bill Clinton’s suggestion that Sen. Obama won South Carolina because he’s black like Jesse Jackson, and after
> innumerable stories which mentioned Sen. Obama’s efforts to become the “first black president”, and after
> extensive coverage of remarks by Clinton supporter Geraldine Ferraro suggesting that Sen. Obama had reached this pinnacle of success because he’s black, and after
> controversy sparked by the Clinton campaign’s distribution of a photo of her rival dressed in traditional Somali garb, and after
> another Clinton supporter’s repeated use of Sen. Obama’s middle name, Hussein, and after
> countless stories about Sen. Obama’s black Kenyan father and white Kansan mother.

Times executive editor Bill Keller could not be reached for comment, but unnamed newsroom sources said the upcoming non-racial story would likely deal with “feminism, sexual orientation or one of the other top issues about which Americans look to their president for leadership.”

Poor old Hillary…..she’s gonna have to come up with some other ailment……maybe she could play the lesbo card to switch the focus back to her…..nah! I bet she’s enjoying watching the melt-down of the O-bomb-a. It’s probably been part of her plan all along.

Sorry if I seem a bit cynical but we actually had grass visible yesterday….there was still 6 or so inches of snow left to melt, but you could see grass in spots!! We awoke to 4 inches of new global warming with the liklihood of 1 to 4 more by days end. Second day of spring my sorry rear-end! I hate winter coats on Easter Sunday!
Okay, rant mode off…..lurk mode back on…

    Good Morning Scrapplers,
    Off topic:?
As part of my morning ‘oblations’ , I tune in to Fox and Friends and saw something quite odd. Mike Wallace(jr) was hawking his Sunday morning program on Fox network and he litterally chastised the hosts for spending 2 hours discussing Obama and the “typical white person statement”. He actually scolded them publically and I believe Steve Ducy took offence. I felt embarrsed for them.I guess that is what one might call Fair and Balanced.Turn off all the fans for the next few days. I can’t wait to see what might hit them.

Bravo! This is why Scott is America’s premier political satirist. Maybe other people could make the idea work, but who else could come up with the idea.

Richardson comes on board at a crucial time for Obama. I’m a little surprised that he went that way. Now we wait for Edwards. On a lighter (I hope) note:

    Dem Strategery

DEAN: With Richardson on Board, Edwards will follow. You’ve got the nomination sewn up, Barack, Now you have to think long term, and Orwellian: “Winning is Losing.”

    OBAMA: I don’t ….

REID: He’s right, Barack. You win in November and their base puts grievances aside, unites, and becomes energized. We’ll have two years of gridlock in Congress. In disgust, the voters sweep us away in 2010, and then you in 2012.

PELOSI: But if you lose to McCain, we can resurrect the “stolen election” charge for another five or six years to keep our base pumped. Meanwhile, their bosses’ll spend all their time trying to keep peace between the Maverick and his party. Eventually, centrifugal forces thin out and fracture the repugs, maybe for decades. We’re sitting pretty, and you too, for the next few go rounds.

OBAMA: But how do I ….

SCHUMER: Counterintuition, Barack. Pick Senator Byrd as your running mate. Say lofty things about forgiveness and tolerance and opportunity for the aged and mentally infirm. Voters will turn away while admiring your inclusiveness.

DURBIN: Start championing regressive taxation. Rail about tax breaks for the poor. That’ll take your numbers down with our people, but only in the short term, and at the same time plant a positive seed in the minds of moderates and independents for 2012.

OBAMA: I’m not sure. Let me ask Reverend Wright what he thinks.

Buwahahahahaha! Well yeeeaaaah! You liberal pawns in the media refuse to lay a glove on the guy, what do you freakin’ expect? In the liberal’s world perception is everything and it’s the lamestream media which shapes perception. Shades of Pravda!

Messiah Obama pointedly refuses to wear a flag pin (I couldn’t care less one way or the other) and gleefully tells the rest of us peons why he’s taking the high road by not wearing one. At the same time the hypocrite practically wraps himself in the American flag when giving speeches. Also, the liberal media is giving him a pass on his use of racially-tinged terms like “the typical white person.” Can you imagine if a white candidate were to use the term, “the typical black person?” I guess the lamestream media can justify their Obama rope-a-dope by saying he isn’t capable of making racial comments since he is, after all, half white and half black (African). Doh!

It’s also interesting to read how the black community has been successful in hiding its propensity to believe in the most outrageously prejudiced conspiracy theories to explain away their own culpability in out-of-wedlock births, the spread of AIDS and rampant drug use. IT’S A CIA PLOT, I TELL YA!

Blame the white man and feel better about yourself, I guess. One day the black community will wake up to the fact they’ve been living on the liberal reservation being force-fed their plantation of lies. White liberals have convinced many Afro/black/African Americans they are indeed a hyphenated people and that envy is a virtue that will lead one to the liberal utopia. White liberals are been little more than enablers in fanning the flames of hate, envy, violence, and hopelessness by floating the lie “the black man can’t get a fair shake in a white man’s world.” A rather clever and insidious lie to keep the white liberal in the rather heady position of being the savior of black Americans. I’m sure some naive liberals are well-intentioned, but surely the more informed liberals have to know their social prescriptions are destroying the black family and breeding hate and envy in a people who deserve far better than that.

Moses told Pharoah, “LET MY PEOPLE GO” … He didn’t say, where’s our welfare check, where’s the reparations, you owe us for four hundred years of slavery. In a land of such great opportunity, class envy has no place and neither does the spirit of entitlement.

The race discussion in the MSM is a smokescreen plus mirrors as Rush has consistently pointed out, it’s the libbers who are the racists.

It’s the libbers who tread the old well worn path of racial inferiority how minorities are so mentally retarded that they are incapable of competing on a level playing field. The only chance they can possibly have is if the libbers can force affirmative action programs for them and scholastically they have to have gratuitous points added to their test scores.

I think the liberal elite are born and bred to the manor. From childhood they have special schools, prep schools, etc. where they are brainwashed with the liberal agenda.

From the big bang, evolution brought about only a very few certain intelligent humans (1%) and the rest of the crud evolved from the scraps and trimmings to become “everybody else (99%) who cannot think or fend for themselves without the control of the superior brains of the one per cent. (this is also known as lunacy but that reality is omitted from their education.)

In America they cannot falter or fail to work toward regaining full control of all three branches of government. It’s their birthright.

The blogger at Powerline has looked at Wright’s replacement, who refuses to disagree with any of his wacky comments, and offers the following:

“Barack Obama says that he wants to bring Americans together and get beyond the divisions of the past. So why does he continue to associate himself with those who seem to think it’s a trick question if you ask them whether the federal government created the AIDS virus?”

On another topic, did you all see the article about Sadaam’s numerous connections with terrorist groups? Powerline handles that really well too.

Speaking of satire, have you seen bin Laden’s attempt at it?

“To begin, I tell you: hostility between human beings is very old, but the intelligent ones among the nations in all eras have been keen to observe the etiquettes of dispute and the morals of fighting.

Although our tragedy in your killing of our women and children is a very great one, it paled when you went overboard in your unbelief and freed yourselves of the etiquettes of dispute and fighting and went to the extent of publishing these insulting drawings.

This is the greater and more serious tragedy, and reckoning for it will be more severe.”

He’s referring to the Danish cartoons.

    Hank,
Here’s a heartwarming story about a “conservative” country. Perhaps you’d be very content there?

KABUL (Reuters) - Some 5,000 Afghans chanted “death to Denmark” and “death to the Netherlands” in Kabul on Friday, protesting against the reprinting of a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad in Danish newspapers and a Dutch film on the Koran.

Sporadic demonstrations have sprung up across the deeply conservative country in recent weeks against the cartoons and the film with protesters demanding Danish and Dutch troops be withdrawn from Afghanistan and their embassies shut down.

One good thing about “Manmade” Global Warming is that it serves as a tool, when you meet someone, ask what they think of “Manmade” Global Warming, their answer will let you know immediately whether or not you’re dealing with an idiot.

In all my life of watching the love-fest of the mainstream media for all that is Liberal, I have never seen such fawning over anyone as what I’m seeing with Obama!

MSNBC alone is a 24 hour gagfest!I believe Chris Matthews wants to have Obama’s baby.

The one good thing about it is that it is all at the expense of…the Clintons!

You have a point, but some folks who aren’t idiots don’t take the time to look into such things; lots of ‘em still rely on the “mainstream” media. I think maybe they’re just intellectually lazy sometimes. YMMV…
