Obama Apologizes to Hillary for 'Monster' Remark

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 80 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-03-07) — Hours after senior adviser Samantha Powers quit his presidential campaign, Sen. Barack Obama today apologized to rival Hillary Clinton for his former aide’s remarks describing Sen. Clinton as a “monster.”

Sen. Obama, who has been criticized for his toothless approach to fighting for the Democrat nomination, said, “I categorically reject Ms. Powers’ use of the term ‘monster’ to describe my opponent.”

Holding aloft a dictionary, the presidential front runner said, “A monster is an imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly and frightening. But I assure you that Sen. Clinton is no imaginary creature.”

“The word ‘monster’ can also refer to an inhumanly cruel or wicked person,” he said. “However, we have ample evidence that Hillary Clinton is, in fact, exceedingly human. I apologize to Sen. Clinton for my adviser’s careless use of the language.”

The hilarious prospect of a Hill & Bill & BO Show stretches the limits of laughability to ludicrous levels and would hand John Sidney McCain III the Greatest Landslide Victory in the History of the Universe.

So, I say, do it. Please.

Funny how the past sneaks up on us. Most people thought Samantha’s Powers involved wrinkling her nose.

Yes, BO has probably lost the Monster Vote and, without that strategically Vital Demographic, Consensus (my alter-ego) says he is now relegated to has-been-wannabe and laughing-stock/object-of-scorn—as it should be, of course. But don’t look for any Mortification—look for the NYT Bestseller, coming soon to your Local Retailer’s Whine Section.

And just how do trolls fit into this mess?

Etymology: Norwegian troll & Danish trold, from Old Norse troll giant, demon; probably akin to Middle High German trolle lout

: a dwarf or giant in Scandinavian folklore inhabiting caves or hills

Seems to me that our resident trolls should feel comfortable living in a cave with Hillary

Now a word from our sponsor; Pixars 2001 release of Monsters, Inc (not to be confused with Ms RightWing, Ink )

    “We scare because we care”

“Since the very first bedtime, all around the world, children have known that once their mothers and fathers tuck them in, and shut off the light, that there are MONSTERS hiding in their closets, waiting to emerge! What they don’t know is: it’s nothing personal. It’s just their job.”

You know, I like that slogan

    “We scare because we care”

This is an obvious example of a misunderstanding based on cultural differences in the meaning of words. Not only is Samantha Power relatively young (age 37); as a Harvard professor, she doubtless spends a considerable amount of her time around students who are in their 20’s or even younger. As an adjective, “Monster” is routinely used in the Youth Culture as a synonym for “Huge”, or “Awesome” ( overwhelmingly impressive) ; as a noun it can imply the same type of quality (”Man, that song is a monster!”), for example, to describe a hugely successful &/or artistically significant work of art.

In addition, there are a number of alternate slang uses that are explicitly sexual, but we needn’t go there in this context, barring some evidence that Ms. Power intended that sort of personal insult … a representative selection of these uses, and others, can be found at the Urban Dictionary website (y’all can Google it … ).

What is curious here is Mr. Obama’s failure to understand the situation. I mean, whazzup! The man’s supposed to be hip !

  • 15 Beerme // Mar 8, 2008 at 2:58 pm

OK, in keeping with the Monster Mash theme, I heard today that Bill Clinton thinks that a team of Hill and BO would be unstoppable. Well that idea is scary (think Count Scary!). Anyway this parody is what that plan does for me:

I was working the primaries late one night
when my eyes beheld a fearful sight
when gorge in my throat began to rise
    and suddenly to my surprise…

    they picked Hillbama
    (they picked a double dud)
    Dude and Yo mama!
    (the impossible, bud!)
    It’s Futurama
    (chew that socialist cud)
    Way too much drama
    (What DailyKos crud!)

Now Hillary and Obama are the hits of the land
And everyone pines for the hope that they’ve planned
For you the working, these plans were meant, too
When they get to your door, give to each their due

    Then they’ll Hillbama
(they’ll give you all for free)
    They’ll just Hillbama
(No need to work for me)
    Come on Hillbama
    (Watch Oprah for a fee)
    Get with Hillbama!
    (Hey, don’t tread on me!)

I remember how it hit me when Bill Clinton was elected the first time, I couldn’t believe my ears, what a sorry excuse for a candidate I thought he was. But I tell you guys, if there is an Obama/Clinton ticket in the future, I cannot fathom them as being our elected leaders, I may even donate to McLame if it comes down to that scenario. It would really hit me hard to see them in the White House, if the world didn’t end before the following election I think every true conservative would get elected after two years of insanity.I really think if it happens it will be a big step in setting the stage for the end of the world. Too many people looking for a system that eliminates any need or mention of God, gonna get themselves free from judgementalist folks that talk of God’s laws, and says gay ain’t OK. Inroads are being made at an alarming pace, are we ready for this? 1 Cor. 10:11-12

These Israeli folks take their “Own and Carry” rights real serious.

    Excerpt from Drudge, today:

Police have named the gunman as Ala Hashem Abu Dhaim, 25, a resident of the east Jerusalem district of Jabel Mukaber. He was shot and killed by Yitzhak Dadon, an off-duty army officer, who occasionally studied at the seminary. “He came out of the library spraying automatic fire … the terrorist came to the entrance and I shot him twice in the head,” said Mr Dadon, who, like many Israeli men, carries a weapon at all times.

Makes me wonder how many students might be alive today, if it weren’t for liberals, who should be held accountable for aiding and abetting bwo their anti-gun stance, thereby assuring the gunman of non-interference.

I heard on a talk show , some are saying McCain may ask Romney to be his VP. Now, I think I could handle that. If we could get McCain in and “coattail “a few Congresspeople with him ,maybe we could just sort of “maintain “for 4 years ,then Romney would be all set to run. I don’t think McCain intends to run for a second term ,and the way he looks ,I don’t think he would last that long, anyway.
If McCain picks one of his RINO buddies, then it will be more of a problem .

Don’t we pretty well all agree,if Hillary and/or Obama are elected and do the things they have promised ,this country will be destroyed?
Well, why would they want to do that?
To get to be the President of the richest ,strongest Country in the world and deliberately put into action, taxes and laws that would bring America to an end ,just doesn’t make any sense to me.
That would be their legacy, they would have to live with it ,if they survived the chaos and riots . For what ,so the Europeons and Muslims would like us? So the MSM ,from their bunkers ,would praise them when there was any electricity to tune in?

A snippet from a DRUDGE article:

WHY JESUS WOULDN’T VOTE FOR OBAMA, NOW OR IN THE HEREAFTER
Obama stated pro-life proposals must be “amenable to reason.”
OK, Sen. Obama, let’s reason. Explain why you support abortion for whatever rationale, at whatever gestation, by whatever means. Explain why you support infanticide, if banning it might interfere with abortion.
Then, since you brought it up, explain how, despite all that, you think Jesus should vote for you, either now or in the hereafter, particularly given His statement, “It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck than to face the punishment in store for harming one of these little ones.”

I saw in our loco paper this morning that there were 200 people that showed up to vote here in our county. The population of the city is around 28K or so, 200 is all that turned out for the dems? The headline was “Campbell County Dems pick Obama -Tnousands turn out to vote statewide” so few that choose for so many . . . .

Fred - They actually believe that God approves of abortion, offending one of those “little ones” absolutely excludes the murdered babies because they were not yet born -Yes, abortion to them is a compasionate act for the child. Unbelievable? It is how they attempt to clear their consciences, they have to convince themselves of that or else they have to eliminate all thoughts of morally altogether, and that is a tough sell, a tough pill, an almost impossible position to live with.

  • 28 mindknumbed kid // Mar 9, 2008 at 10:09 am

Many of the young women of today, I believe, think it is a moral choice just because of all of the feminists that have sacrificed to have “legal” abortions available to them. There are probably some that feel duty-bound to have an abortion to pay homage to the abortion rights movement.
Sort of a shallow excuse for human beings when you look at them in the light of civilized, thinking , citizens.

12 So when He had finished washing their feet and had put on His garments and had sat down again, He said to them, Do you understand what I have done to you?

13 You call Me the Teacher (Master) and the Lord, and you are right in doing so, for that is what I am.

14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher (Master), have washed your feet, you ought [it is your duty, you are under obligation, you owe it] to wash one another’s feet.

15 For I have given you this as an example, so that you should do [in your turn] what I have done to you.

16 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, A servant is not greater than his master, and no one who is sent is superior to the one who sent him.

17 If you know these things, blessed and happy and to be envied are you if you practice them [if you act accordingly and really do them].

God only holds one (1) sin as being “Unforgivable” that being the sin of dying, having rejected the nudging of His Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) to accept the sacrifice of His Son as payment for sin.

Since I’m obviously neither God nor Mrs. William Jefferson Clinton, not to omit the mention of Senator Barack Hussein Obama; the latter two of which hold the only unforgivable is failure to vote for them.

So I, personally hold only one (1) matter as being unforgivable, that being stupid. Stupid can get you dead. Stupid can sometimes get you real dead, real quick. Stupid causes you to drink and drive. Stupid can cause you to get STD’s.

Stupid, however, will never cause you to vote liberal. (that action is due to a genetic defect causing mental derangement). No, Reagan said rightly “Liberals aren’t stupid, it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”

Abortion and homosexuality are contra-survival and therefore stupid. Raising taxes is stupid with a 100% failure rate. It’s the death knell to any economy. Not having hard, enforceable borders is stupid, it’s how a non-country is created. Entitlement programs are stupid, being financed with other people’s money. A small, weak military is stupid and anyone who has to ask why? is stupid.

I can forgive anything except stupid.

Voting for liberals, socialists, communists or fascists is stupid, even though they mostly aren’t stupid.

From Wiki- “Yahweh is an English rendition of יהוה, the name of the God of Israel, as preserved in the Masoretic Text. These four Hebrew letters ( יהוה ) are often collectively called the Tetragrammaton (from the Greek τετραγράμματον / (to) tetragrammaton, tetra “four” + gramma (gen. grammatos) “letter”, “(the word) of four letters”) [1] and are usually transliterated JHWH in German, and either YHWH, YHVH, JHWH or JHVH in English.
Traditionally, observant Jews do not say this name aloud, as it is believed to be too sacred to be uttered, but often use euphemisms when referring to the name of the deity, e.g., HaShem (”The Name”) or Shem HaMeforash (“the ineffable Name.”)”

Finally, the liberal media tells the truth about messiah Obama’s lies.

Even then, the Chicago Tribune tries to put a positive spin on Obama’s lies about his life. Other lies these two journalists adroitly avoided was Obama’s attempts to whitewash who his parents were. He claims his mother was a “Christian” when she was a rebellious white atheist from Kansas and he had claimed in subsequent interviews that both his father and step-father were “non-practicing Muslims.” Now what are the odds of the latter?

It’s sickening how the liberal media, even in a purportedly hard-hitting discovery piece like this continue white-washing liberal Democrats like messiah Obama. I don’t know, maybe its normal for liberals to lie about their families and their upbringing to paint themselves as victims.

Prettyold Re#23: “If McCain picks one of his RINO buddies …
I know it’s not a popular concept, but Romney’s just about as RINO as they get. Remember that as Governor he rammed both unlimited tax-funded abortion and homosexual marriage into law, not because he “had” to (neither the Courts nor the Legislature demanded or even specifically requested either) but because he wanted to. Although he says he’s changed his mind now, I’ve never heard convincing signs of regret for either action. Of course, no level of regret would undo the damage. Does Romney weep for the babies his actions have killed?

Frankly, even if he found a true conservative willing to run with him, McCain’s long and consistent history indicates such a VP would be window dressing with no influence whatsoever.

Barring a virtual miracle, Conservatism has lost this election no matter who takes the White House. My faith reminds me that good will come of this, but not when, and maybe not soon.

As I sit here and wait for springs early glimpse of green
I pause to think about this monster thing
If truth sends one packing then it is lies that reward the evil unseen

Hillary, Obama now has spread both far and wide
that truth, honest and justice gives her pride
and behind lies, deceit and blood shed no longer will she hide

Oh how clean she now can be for Obama has declared his help to leave
no longer will words of bitterness in their party be heaved
justice for all, even the monsters of hell, can you believe

Oh the months and weeks to come and go as we watch the NitWit show
how long can they hold their breath and not let the truth show that Hillary truly believes that Barack must go.

They say out side the Clinton library in Arkansas
is a little statue of a stable boy behind some straw with a ring in his hand saying c’mon y’all I’ll take your pony into the stall

The little statue looks like a presidential runner from Illinois
for Pete’s sake what can be funner than an ex-redneck governor’s wife looking like one of the boys
no monster can she be-could she be that coy?

FROM A GOOD OLD COUNTRY BOY

Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight And bull-strong.

Keep skunks And bankers And lawyers at a distance.

Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

A bumble bee is considerably faster than A John Deere tractor.

Words that soak into your ears are whispered… Not yelled

    Meanness Don’t jes’ Happen Overnight.

Forgive your enemies. It messes up Their heads.

Do not corner something That you know is Meaner than you.

It don’t take A very big person To carry a grudge.

You cannot unsay a cruel, or unkind word.

Every path has A few puddles.

When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

The best sermons Are lived, Not preached.

Most of the stuff people worry about ain’t never gonna happen anyway.

Don’t judge folks by their relatives.

Remember that silence Is sometimes The best answer.

Live a good, Honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, You’ll enjoy it a second time.

Don’t interfere with somethin’ That ain’t botherin’ You none.

Timing has A lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.

Sometimes you get, And sometimes You get got.

The biggest troublemaker you’ll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin’.

Always drink upstream From the herd.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from Bad judgment.

Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier Than puttin’ it back in.

If you get to thinkin’ You’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s Dog around.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest Up to God.

gafisher #46 - I’ll pray that the “how long” won’t be equal to the Hebrews sojourn of 400 years in Egypt.

They had Democrats even back then, after Egypt, when spies were sent to scout out the promised land - even with God’s miracles they had witnessed, except for the two Republicans, Caleb and Joshua who said “We can take the land” they were outnumbered by the ‘crats proclaiming their defeatist opinion of the conquest of Canaan, “we’ll lose, this is the wrong war, at the wrong time in the wrong place.” and the liberals in their midst grumbled and protested against their God fearing President (leader) Moses and formed their own factions (Moveon.org; Code Pink, etc.) and wanted to cut and run, tails between their legs, back to Egypt and slavery.

Then when they did want to take the land, they had to do it their way, and got the snot beat out of them.

It seems that today, the slavery of liberalism is so attractive that it’s preferable to independence and personal responsibility.

Fred, “we” didn’t want to cut and run. “We” didn’t want to attack a random country for nothing then remain there for 50 years at a cost of just under 3 trillion $s for the first 6 of those years. “We” thought there were real enemies to be fought and felt better served by going after the man that dreamed up the 9/11 attack, paid for it and laughed about it afterwards.

  • 68 prettyold // Mar 10, 2008 at 3:01 pm

Oh Up Nort’lurkin’,I had forgotten all that . That’s right the Iraqi citizens loved Saddam and Hoosy and Uday, and all those spades. And even though Saddam had all those factories to make WMD ,he didn’t really make them , he was just having fun with the UN.
Not only is Osama still alive Saddam is alive ,too. They hung one of his doubles.
A lot of liberals say one of Bush’s worst mistakes was destroying Saddam’s police force and Army. Yep just like Harry Truman was so stupid for getting rid of Hitlers Army and the Gestapo. With their help we wouldn’t still have to have Troops in Germany.
    Oh, that wonderful 20-20 hindsight.

Yes, I know you were mocking me but I see your list as quite accurate and, yes indeed, something to be remembered each and every day. It’s laughable that those things are now irrelavent to some (most here). Just laughable
When you and yours stop defending the war and admit that both the war itself and the way it was fought for 4 years was a poorly conceived, completely indefensible thing, then “we” will stop “whining”. You have my word on it.
Silly “us” feeling we should have persued Osama, a man that caused real harm/real heartache.
If we had, perhaps he wouldn’t be running for president now eh?

several golfing…better that than governing for most politicians. Good for OJ too

  • 70 Fred Sinclair // Mar 10, 2008 at 3:37 pm

Over here in my Alternate Universe everything is going just swimmingly. Other than the obvious, I’m in better health, (physically, mentally and Spiritually***I figure that’s a pretty firm tripod to use as my base) than most people I know. I don’t owe a dime to anyone. Rom. 13:8 “Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” (KJV) a somewhat clearer modern language translation reads Rom. 13:8 “Don’t run up debts, except for the huge debt of love you owe each other.

I read and speak a little Greek but it’s of the Modern Greek not the Ancient Greek of the New Testament but I believe a more careful transliteration of Rom. 13:8 would convey better the idea of Paul’s intent and should read “…..except for the huge debt of love you owe each other of the same kind.” or in other words The generic love I feel for everybody isn’t like the type of brotherly love I have for a fellow brother or sister Christian.)

Freedom from debt with the accompanying absence of stress, is a serious factor in contributing toward good mental health. I have since learned, thanks to John MacArthur, that the “owe no man anything” had to do with not incurring debts you know you have no intention of paying. Which was a common practice of the Romans toward their debts owing to Jews. so Paul was saying, “Don’t be like them.”

But the “Cash and carry” or “Pay cash or do without” lifestyle became such a friendly and familiar habit, that today I have only a bank “Debit” card. Even though I no longer hold my negative attitude toward “Credit” cards. If a credit card is paid in full by a same day return check, it would be good for motel, hotel and car rentals for some people. (Just not me)

Speaking of monsters (well, loosely speaking …) here’s an anti-Hillary video some Obamistas put together based on the old Apple 1984 Mac ad.

A little clever, maybe, and sort of fun, but it strikes me the Barackis just might have released that preemptively — watch the original (here) and see if you don’t find “Fearless Leader’s” big-screen speech both familiar and disturbing … clue: listen for “We are one …”

The Constitutionalist Party is a grand name, however it’s somewhat of a tongue twister so I’m proposing a name change so far I have two proposals. (1). The Panocratic Party or (2). The Panublican Party.

The positive part is that The Constitutionalist Party base will be the same + our belief that everything is going to Pan out the way God wants it.

The possible drawback is that sure as shootin the Dems and Reps will tag us as the “PP” Party, but even that can work in our favor, since most everything they do has a way of coming back to bite them in the backside.

As we begin whipping them at the polls they will start whining that we’re “PP” - ing on them.

With the elections in November and considering that Global Cooling will be upon us, all of the big delegate states will be under heavy snow and they’ll all know we’ve been there ahead of them by our tracks in the snow.

If Barack’s pappy and step-pappy were non-practicing muslims, the jihadists would not look favorably upon any of them. They think you gotta be like them, or else you ought to die. So if these things are true I reckon things would not be too productive when and if President Obamanable was to go sit down and chat about whatever he thinks he can pacify them with. They would be a wonderful day . . .right. That sure would make everything all better over in the middle east, once he sits ‘em down and teaches ‘em how to be nice the world will be at peace, not war, war is bad and must be stopped at all cost. Maybe BHO could ship over some Barney and friends videos, to help soften ‘em up a bit.Maybe make Rodney King ambassador to the region too. Beats all of this war and stuff, that’ll never teach ‘em to make nice. It’s all about hope, some give it, some take it away. Now c’mon and feel the love people.
