FEC Disqualifies Hillary Due to Presidential Term Limit

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 139 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2007-12-22) — The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is expected to rule this week that Sen. Hillary Clinton can no longer receive public funding for a presidential campaign which increasingly touts her experience in the White House with former President Bill Clinton, because the Constitution limits a president to two terms in office.

“When Bill Clinton ran for president, he promised that voters would get ‘two for the price of one’,” said an unnamed FEC spokesman, “so Americans have already elected Hillary Clinton to the office twice. Furthermore, since both the former president and his wife claim her First Lady experience as tantamount to a co-presidency, she has already served two terms and is therefore disqualified by the 22nd amendment from re-election to the office, and so cannot receive public funding for her campaign.”

When news of the FEC ruling reached Sen. Clinton, she was about to enjoy dessert at a diner in Altoona, Iowa. The unflappable candidate quickly ate her cake slice, and then asked the waitress for a ‘to go’ box so that she could take it with her.

Jolly Old Saint Hill (picture her in a Santa Suit, throwing her head back and, yes, cackling-no, on second thought, don’t) as depicted in her utterly psychotic election ad is a most concise example of why I say that voting Democrat is tantamount to…..the schizophrenic display is unquestionably vile, yes, but the diabolical promo is quite disgusting and/or despicable on so many levels as to leave me at a loss for…..

I wish that “Co-Presidency” nonsense would backfire on her, but it’s highly doubtful…much like her claim that there was a “Co-Presidency”.

Though this message is satire (and a pretty good bit of it at that!), there are plenty of things the FEC should be investigating about sHrillary’s campaign that are quite honestly problematic…

  • 8 JamesonLewis3rd // Dec 22, 2007 at 12:51 pm

Actually, there is a pseudo-homonym used by Anthony Burgess in his homage to psychopathy, A Clockwork Orange (1962)…..

[If I may, I recommend against seeing the excruciatingly explicit Stanley Kubrick film (1971, with Malcolm McDowell)--the book is vivid enough]

…..which comes close to describing The Hill & Bill Show with all of its eerie, fog-enshrouded, Oz-like nuances.

And that particular word is “horrorshow” which—because I grokked the context of its Russian origin on some primal level—made my head spin when I first read the book. I was a young teenager at the time in a household where Russian was spoken most of the time (but not by me).

    It’s all horrorshow.

I hear that the real reason she is itchin’ to get back in there is all of the free china they have to fling at Bill. She has to buy her own now and that gets to be quite expensive.

It’s 24°F (-4°C) here this morning, so I guess it’s true what they said about the arrival of Winter a couple of days ago.
The Moon is like an Arc Lamp on God’s Creation, stretching long shadows across a monochromatic Earthscape (our miniscule portion of which is littered with Oak (Quercus) and Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica) Leaves of varying shades of an interesting gray).

    Merry Christmas

Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was Life, and that Life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.~~John 1:1-5

Global warming is destroying the only vestige of Christmas-though Christmas really is not here yet so I can’t really talk vestiges yet.

Anyhow, it is now 54 degrees here in the waste lands of NE Ohio and rain is permeating our soil to the degree that my highly visible, brightly lit plastic Grinch is slowly submersing into the mud leaving behind an eerie strange greenish, brown hole where once stood my decoration. Sparks can be seen from time to time.

High wind warnings are also being issued to compliment the warm weather, so what is left of my Grinch and other assorted lights will likely soon take flight to parts unknown.

Next year I will erect a statue of a green Algore made of indeginous material (clay, gravel and rusted car parts). Not only will the locals come adore the statue, since our community is full of lobotomized Democrats, but the green color will bring out the true qualities of our Nobel prize hero.

Of course a carbon hat and cane will be added, along with the new energy saving Christmas lights wound all about his hefty frame. Oh what a Grinch he will make and even a hot wind from the east will not destroy it.

Peace on earth (as we smolder in global warming)

Mig #37 - I agree. Except for a brief stint as a phony Senator from New York (my opinion - she didn’t live with a former Senator to acquire Senatorial experience.)

Laura Bush is more qualified than Mrs. Bill Clinton, since her living with a President is more recent, more up to date and more relevant to the Presidential Office; not old, stale and soooo ’90’s.

For a first female President - my choice would be Judge Janice Rogers Brown, who imo is vastly more qualified than an upstart newbie Senator from New York.

And, sad to say I am still working on the annual Cafe Christmas story.

  • 41 MargeinMI // Dec 24, 2007 at 9:40 am

Well, I’ve been here, but lurkin’.

All’s wrapped and under the tree. Finally caved to let Boy unwrap one thing-a Lego kit for a monster truck (being built as I type). Weather permitting, we’ll be headed across town to sister’s tonight to partake of good eats, singing carols, a little handbell ringing (as Director, mom gets to borrow them from church), and the exchange of small gifts.

Saturday was spent at Grandma’s with all the kids decorating sugar cookies. We started a new tradition this year of gingerbread houses, too. As far as completed houses, it was a total disaster! We ended up creating the Dresden Gingerbread Village-roofs and walls imploding at will. Thank goodness we had graham crackers as backup building materials to make some nice little houses. Good fun was had by all, definitely a gathering we’ll all remember fondly through the years. I’m sure everyone will be excited to do it again next year so we can apply what we learned from this time. All that fun AND listening to Amahl and the Night Visitors finally pushed me over the edge to being in the Christmas spirit.

I have been stressing over finances a lot this season and it’s a real downer. So you can only imagine my joy when arriving home Saturday to find a check for $335.00 in my mailbox. Seems the escrow has been overpaid this year! What timing! Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Clause!

May the Blessings of the Season be upon ALL my Scrapplin’ friends.

    Merry Christmas ALL!

    Isaiah 53

1)Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2)For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3)He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
4)Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5)But He was wounded for our transgressions, was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
6)All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7)He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not his mouth.
8)He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9)And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was deceit in His mouth.
10)Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief: when thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
11)He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by His knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.
12)Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He hath poured out His soul unto death: and He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many and made intercession for the transgressors.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS … AND PEACE ON EARTH TO PEOPLE OF GOODWILL!

  • 51 Ms RightWing, Ink // Dec 25, 2007 at 12:39 pm

I have no idea what Charles Dickens knew when he wrote The Christmas Carol. Though times were different in 1843 when he scribed the story and social injustice may have been his underlying thought-yet a sparkle of truth carried itself through the years and that is Christmas still brings hope to the hearts of many.

I will confess, this was the year for me to be Scrooge. I hated the thought of Christmas, but I still put on the facade we Grinches often do-Peace on Earth, yada, yada. But somewhere, somehow, God managed to thaw out my heart today. Normally the day after Christmas I arise with gusto knowing the whole mess has once again passed.

But here it is Christmas and I feel great. There is no reason why, but I do. The sun is shining. There is no snow, but this is Ohio.

I read the post by Marge and it moved me. Truly there is a God. Not everybody got blessed that way. God offers no cookie cutter package. He didn’t bless my account with with a single dime, but better yet, he healed my heart for the one day that it was needed most.

Merry Christmas one and all, and have a blessed time with family and friends. For me, I am going to take a stroll in my power chair and go enjoy the chilly winter sun.

P.S. My Christmas story at the Cafe is still on the way. My heart was not in it and the only copy I had was a tear sheet from the magazine. They printed in .888 Times New Roman and I am going blind trying to copy it. Zeech, I wish I could have found the newer version.

For me, the Christmas season and the focus on Jesus Christ adds a peculiar static charge to Scripture-it’s a time during which I can literally feel the Joyous Praises of all God’s Children rushing, faster than light, upward and outward toward Heaven.

Blessed [is] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of the mercies, and God of all comfort, who is comforting us in all our tribulation, for our being able to comfort those in any tribulation through the comfort with which we are comforted ourselves by God; because, as the sufferings of the Christ do abound to us, so through the Christ doth abound also our comfort; ~~2Corinthians 1:3-5

  • 55 Fred Sinclair // Dec 25, 2007 at 5:05 pm

off topic (of course) I took a ‘poll’ by USA Today sort of slanted I thought:

Very interesting, incorrectly phrased question. “Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?” The answer is “No.”

For most of my life I thought the right to own and bear arms was given by the Constitution. I was wrong, having heard other people say that so often that I believed it. Then, one day, I actually read it for myself.

“That they are endowed by their creator with the right to life, liberty and …….. the Constitution did not “give” people any of those rights but simply acknowledged that the people already had those rights endowed (given) them by God.

Then later in the 2nd Amendment “The right of the people” simply acknowledges a pre-existing right and goes on to guarantee that their existing right to own and bear arms shall not have strings attached to it. (infringed).

The right to own and bear arms is a Creator endowed right, not endowed by man or government. In addition to which, You cannot enforce your right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, without the ‘right’ to self defense. (be it rock, club, knife, bow and arrow, firearm, bomb or nuclear bomb) the atom bomb on Hiroshima and the fire-bombing of Dresden and Berlin, were part of guaranteeing the free world’s rights.

The people of E. Germany, (recalling 1956), Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Lativia, etc. had few if any guns - ergo, all freedoms were nullified bwo other nation’s guns.

The firearm in the hands of a homeowner is all that can guarantee his rights within his household. “The policeman is a few minutes away, when seconds mean the difference between life and death, you shoot first and then call 911″. Fundamental fact - “It’s better to be tried by twelve than carried by six”.

PS - I’d like to get this printed - I’ve tried unsuccessfully to write this before, this is the first time I’ve gotten it right.

Kwanzaa, the African-American “cultural festival” , founded by a Christian-hating, vicious criminal, is held from December 26 to January 1.

The proper Kwanzaa greeting goes something like this:

“Yo!” At which time the pants of the male celebrant are pulled down to his knees where he must keep them for life.

    Jack,
I am reading your site in Japanese so I am having a little trouble posting. This should show up in English…I hope. It is 0135 here-thirteen hours ahead of you. Belated Merry Christmas and hopes for Happy New Year to you and yours.

I have actually been to that church you have posted but there are two others in Bethelehem that make the same claim. It was a rather unimpressive hole in the rock and somewhat claustrophobia inducing. If you wanted to make all of those animals in the nativity scene actually fit you would have to puree them first then pour them in.

Let the Scrapplers know that I am thinking of them and wish them the best for the holidays from me.

Another holiday greeting from SGT USMC:

Merry (belated) Christmas and Happy New Year from Nippon

I am just starting to settle in at my new job after three months. It is scary at times yet boring at others…sort of like being in the Marines. I get to argue with Sergeants, educate lieutenants, beat down Captains, Mollify Colonels, and kowtow to Generals. My bosses deal with the politicians. When it is night here it is daylight in the states (14 hours time difference from here to the eastern US) and I am currently working the night shift so I get all the calls. The function I was interviewed and hired for is as advertised an engineering position on a super high tech, cutting edge 300+ million dollar nuclear missile defense RADAR. They failed to mention some of the extra duties that come with working at a remote site 3 hours away from the nearest American facility, over the snow covered mountains, near a tiny Japanese fishing village in Aomori province.

10 things I did not expect to do in Japan:
    1. Hang netting on generator intakes AT 3AM during a blizzard to keep them from sucking in snow and shorting out.
    2. Shovel snow off the top of buildings to keep them from collapsing
    3. Drive a massive 18 foot tall front end loader in white out conditions
    4. Eat a salmon center seaweed covered rice ball while getting chewed out by a colonel.
    5. Escort a roundeye (milspeak for occidental female) to repair an A/C unit when the temp is already -5°C (~23°F)
    6. Spend 15 minutes putting on a scarf, vest, coat, ECW trousers w/suspenders (over pants and long u/w I am already wearing), ECW Jacket(ECW=Extreme Cold Weather Gore-Tex), face mask, ski goggles, hat, glove liners, gloves, and ear muff hearing protection just so I can crawl inside a generator intake for 5 minutes and endure the wind tunnel effect while staring at a fuel gauge using a surefire flashlight.
    7. Sing three verses of the Marine Corps hymn at the top of my lungs in a Japanese restaurant/bar.
    8. Spend an hour with an old Japanese couple in their Mom and Pop store teaching them how to say the date in English- Japanese months are easy: number-gatsu. Ichi-gatsu = first month (January). They had trouble grasping the need for a separate word for each month.
    9. Escort the kid who comes every week to suck out the accumulated matter in the port-a-potty style bathrooms we have on site. I stand about 10 meters away on the ankle-breaker security rocks while doing this. (looking back over the e-mail I should be thankful for the extra 10 meters the kid did not get)
    10. Take a training course at Raytheon Learning Institute online and wait 10 minutes for each question of the 30 question test to load after being answered. Internet over satellite really stinks here. (looking back over the e-mail I guess, as frustrating as it was, I should be thankful that I was getting paid for the whole time)

Not that I am complaining…much…Okay I’m lying, I complain all the time, but to no avail and it really is not all that bad considering the pay and how wonderful Japan really is in a physical and social sense. I am also getting to work with some true geniuses most of which are retired military. A 20 year Navy Chief who worked Arleigh Burke & Aegis class destroyer RADAR and is outstandingly knowlegeable. A couple of 20 year army guys, one from Patriot & the other worked power generation who have amazing world traveler backgrounds. A younger software engineer from Korea who is an absolute whiz with operations, and an even younger software engineer with a Masters from MIT who just happens to be one of the Vietnamese boat people you heard about in the 70’s/80’s.. He was 4 years old when he and his parents escaped Vietnam and wound up at a refugee camp in the Philippines. One of his first memories was somewhat later when they flew through Tokyo on the way to Texas and He was determined to come back to the amazing Japan he witnessed as a youth. This crew is definitely a group of type “A” personalities and have a lot of great experience and stories to tell. People do not take this type of job unless they are inclined to be adventurous, adaptable, and generally intelligent. I have truly found my coworkers to be so and found a home among them!

Life is grand in Nippon, as evidenced by the wonderful cuisine. We ate out at a curious Korean style place the other day. It had a hibachi grill on the low table where you sat on the floor. We had soba (noodles) gahan (rice) and bowls of raw beef that we used chopsticks (hashi) to place on the grill and cook to our preferred done-ness. It was one of the best meals I have had since my wife made pinto beans with cornbread (please make that my first meal home!), or the time I had goat fried rice with flatbread in Dubai UAE.

I pray that the season treats you well and that you remember that Jesus is the reason for the seasons…All of them!(I think this is an original Me quote) Enjoying Christmas far from my family is hard, yet not the worst of things. Be thankful for what you have, appreciative of what you might get, and do not envy what is beyond your reach. Yes, as far as I know, I did just make that up- for what it is worth.

My Uncle Mark Rowe passed away this last week after a long bout with cancer and I ask that you pray for my Aunt Phyllis who is a recent cancer survivor herself. I also ask that you pray for my Mother who is still living with Aunt Phyllis and was there for the worst taking care of her brother. I wish I could be there for them. Mark was an honored and highly decorated retired veteran of the US Army and worthy of our posthumous salutes. God bless his memory and his soul! On this sad note I will leave off and wish all a Merry Christmas in spite of your circumstances and a happy New Year wherein you might change them for the better.

I wonder how long it will take the moonbats on the left to blame President Bush and America for the death of Bhutto by an al Qaeda nutbag? I’m sure we’ll be treated to some tripe about how peace, love and mutual respect would have already broken out among the Islamists in Afghanistan and Pakistan if America hadn’t gotten “distracted” by a war in Iraq.

    Waiting for bober’s two cents.

Instead of a wake up call to the Bush-hating, America-blaming kooks on the left concerning the universal hatred being so publicly displayed by Islamofascists, Dhimmies will simply use Bhutto’s death as another justification for their anti-Bush Derangement Syndrome.

  • 88 Fred Sinclair // Dec 27, 2007 at 9:24 pm

#86 I think perhaps bya has spent his two cents already and is getting ready for his holiday.

I read that one of them actually sued for a holiday. “The Christians have their day, The Jews have their day, The Muslims have their day, even the Voodoo freaks have their day so we want our day!”

The judge replied, “How can I rule to give you what you already have. It is written, “The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.” April 1st is Atheist Day aka April Fool’s Day.

    Case dismissed.

Darth Re#86, I’m sure NPR will have much to say about this, including plenty of reasons Pakistan would be a paradise today had a Clinton been in the White House.

However, referring to “the death of Bhutto by an al Qaeda nutbag” is a little misleading. Uncivilized though they may be, al Qaeda is highly organized and very efficient, not a mere collection of nutbags stumbling from outrage to outrage but a formidable military force which must be defeated. The left finds it useful to portray Islamofascists as “misguided” or in other ways members of a broad and undefined victim class deserving of our sympathy, but in fact these people know precisely what they want, have been completely open in describing it, and relentless in pursuing it. Bhutto’s assasination was not “part of the random pattern of violence” the MSM likes to dismiss such acts as being. Benazir Bhutto was an important and deliberate target, a beachhead in the current World War.

I pray that the choicest blessing of Almighty God may rest upon you—upon your families—your friends—your homes—your occupations—your duties. May you receive grace according to your need! Grace for doing—and for suffering; grace for health—and for sickness; grace for prosperity—and for adversity; grace for life—and for death! Grace for time—and glory in eternity! May you enjoy, in every step of life’s pilgrimage, the cheering, sustaining, and animating presence of your God and Savior! And, may that presence be, to you—so precious, so needful, so gladdening—that it shall prove the pledge of heaven, the foretaste of celestial bliss, and the first-fruits of the golden harvest of eternity!

“Barack — may I call you Barack? — this is not going to help. Apart from the absurdity of claiming that the housing conditions of one’s grandmother amount to foreign policy experience, no Iowan who has been as successful as Barack Obama would let his grandmother live in a ‘tiny hut.’ Somebody ought to take up a collection for the poor woman.”

What is it with these freakin’ Donks? They are obviously very, very well off but they seem more than willing to let their mothers or grandmothers “live in a tiny hut” … or would have them choosing between food and scrambling for health care benefits as in the case of Al Goracle in the 2000 elections. THIS IS PATHETIC! Why won’t these Donks take care of their families? They have the money. And then these morons go public using their families as examples of what a bunch of tightwads Donk leaders are! Buwahahahahahahaha!

Just one more example of how the DemDonk “progressives” would rather the State take care of their own blood instead of them providing for their own family members when they’re freakin’ rich! Disgusting slackers and whiners.

Hmmmm, I see neverthink escaped the sanitarium again. Still stuck on his “chickenhawk” rant, like a dog returning to its own vomit.

I guess he’s reduced to his chickenhawk song-and-dance routine since there never was a “civil war in Iraq” and it was never the case “we’ve lost in Iraq”, particularly since its pretty clear the surge is working and al Qaeda (yes, al Qaeda was indeed in Iraq posing as Iraqi “insurgents”) is getting its backside handed to them.

As rational, informed Americans have understood these last four years, Iraq was and will continue to be the other front on the War on Islamism whether barking moonbats like neverthink want to recognize that reality or not. Pakistan may be the next front of that war if so-called “moderate” Muslims there don’t step up to the plate and nip the rising Islamic extremism in the bud.

The Bush-hating left still doesn’t have a clue as to the true nature of radical Islam and the war on terror itself, so they are reduced to ad hominem attacks against those of us who know who the real enemies of this country are and lying their way back to power if they can.

These deranged kooks are little more than ignorant, irrelevant hacks … ah, but don’t ever question their patriotism. I still can’t see the real difference between the hate-Bush/blame-America rhetoric of liberals and the Islamofascists who are out to destroy western civilization and America. Useful idiots like neverthink will always be the last hope of radical Islamists.

  • 98 everthink // Dec 30, 2007 at 2:30 am

Still stuck on his “chickenhawk” rant, like a dog returning to its own vomit.”

There are so many things you don’t understand, but let me help with this one; the phase “like a dog returning to its own vomit” refers to the ”dogs” act of returning to the very thing the made it sick in the first place.

Calling you Chickenhawk does not make me sick; but, having once been a soldier, and as the father of a soldier, reading your tripe about the military does make me sick.

I would prefer never to be reminded of you eagerness to have others engage in combat and personal sacrifices that you, or your offspring, would never consider.

“As rational, informed Americans have understood these last four years, Iraq was and will continue to be the other front on the War on Islamism whether barking moonbats like neverthink want to recognize that reality or not.”

If that is true about 80% of Americans must be irrational!

“The Bush-hating left still doesn’t have a clue as to the true nature of radical Islam and the war on terror itself, so they are reduced to ad hominem attacks against those of us who know who the real enemies of this country are and lying their way back to power if they can.”

Is “barking moonbats” an ad hominem attack? How about “deranged kooks”?

Once again, about 80% of Americans eagerly look forward to Dumbyah’s departure. “The real enemies of this country” are those who have allowed the corruption of our Constitution and the destruction of our freedoms.

“Pakistan may be the next front of that war if so-called “moderate” Muslims there don’t step up to the plate and nip the rising Islamic extremism in the bud.”

Can I assume Iran has now been moved off the front burner?

One thing is sure; you will never risk anything in America’s defense.

What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.~~Philippians 3:8-9

My #1 resolution for 2008 is to make an effort to be less judgmental when dealing with other people.

To keep in mind that the man who penned the words to “Amazing Grace” (John Newton) was the captain of a slave ship. It was a book he found on board-Thomas à Kempis’ Imitation of Christ-which sowed the seeds of his conversion.

When praying for the liberal, left Socialists I must always be aware that even the worst of them, like Newton, have the potential of accepting Christ into their lives. However, in not being judgmental, it is necessary to recall that we are at the same time enjoined to be fruit inspectors. (Matt. 7: 16, 20)

  • 105 JamesonLewis3rd // Dec 30, 2007 at 11:45 am

The word “judgmental” is often abused by the Obsequious Narcissistâ„¢ to deride an alien (to them) analytical paradigm better known as Discernment which, I believe, requires the utilization of an Objective Perspective skill which, for judgmental persons, is utterly impossible to attain-which is, of course, quite Logical-I’ll make no assumptions as to the causality of this phenomenon; however, I do know the Cure.

  • 106 Fred Sinclair // Dec 30, 2007 at 12:03 pm

    off topic -

The President of a furniture manufacturing company, based in Holland, MI learned of a newly emerging 3rd world nation. He was excited at the prospect of a new market for his company. He sent his # 1 Sales Representative over to the newly emerging nation.

Upon arrival, the Sales Rep saw a rare opportunity. The Capitol City was a small collection of straw huts. The new President’s residence was a two story straw hut! Upon entering the straw hut he was confronted with a dirt floor, chickens, goats, cows, etc., that were wandering in and out. Sanitation was non-existent.

During his interview with the new President, he explained that as a new member of the United Nations, he would be hosting Diplomats from many other nations. Using his catalogue, he helped select chairs, coffee tables, sofas, a tile flooring, etc., however he insisted that with all of the modernization the big chair had to be replaced. The new President insisted that could not be done. The chair had been carved out of a single rock by his family, over 400 years ago, as an heirloom it must stay. It was explained that a new one would be custom molded from clear, bullet proof Lexan. It would have controls built into the armrest for heating, cooling, TV remote, etc.

So the order was faxed back to Michigan and the company CEO was happy. Livestock was rounded up and put in pens - outside. A few months later everything arrived by ship and was trucked into the Capitol. Workmen laid the tile, put everything in place and it was grand. They could not dispose of the stone chair but did use block and tackle to hoist it up into the 2nd floor, making room for the new custom fitted Lexan chair. Being very large and weighing over 2000 pounds the workmen lashed it to support braces of bamboo and all was well.

All was well for a couple of years, that is….. with heavy rains every day, the bamboo struts finally rotted through. The 2000 pound stone chair crashed through the ceiling, landing below on the President as he sat in his custom molded, bullet proof Lexan chair, killing him instantly!

The motto of this sad tale? - “People who live in grass houses, shouldn’t stow thrones.”

“When praying for the liberal, left Socialists I must always be aware that even the worst of them, like Newton …”

JOHN NEWTON WAS A LIBERAL? Why, I didn’t know that!

I always thought of him as a free enterprise sort of fellow, a kind of “conservative” entrepreneur; a man who just wanted to do business without government interference.

So then, as a liberal left Socialist he was operating a business under complete government control, was he? That is just amazing!

You say: “My #1 resolution for 2008 is to make an effort to be less judgmental when dealing with other people.”

In case you haven’t viewed Fred08’s message to Iowa caucus goers and to all Americans for that matter, he has a solid message to share.

As a video, it is weak on visual values; it is, however quite effective in its content.

(To our dear Fred at Scrappleface: Any more of those bad pun tales like last night’s, and you will be voted off the island. Just kidding.)

et #108 - As a “fruit inspector”, I can state with no fear of refutation that so far you have evidenced no fruit other than that of the twisted, gnarly, unattractive, unpleasant variety that is certainly not worthy of harvest.

Not being judgmental, mind you, but I can recognize bad fruit when I encounter it. To date, I have yet to find a troll that is worth the pearls cast before it.

I’ve heard that Bloomberg might run as a third party Independent - However God has the final word. With Bloomberg as an independent it could swing the other way - I’ve also heard that there is a tremendous number of very dissatisfied old-line Harry Truman/Jack Kennedy, Democrats. If he was alive to day, Jack would be a Republican. Bloomberg could easily pull away the Democrat vote for a quid pro quo of both parties.

I don’t see God as a sadist. He wouldn’t put Billary back in the White House (at least I hope He won’t). A really fun, interesting third (or fourth) party - as a last minute entry would be Laura Bush with Judge Janice Rogers Brown as her running mate!!!!! And then there is Jeb Bush w/Laura? There’s still almost a year to go - 2008 could be a real fun year? Laura Ingram/ Ann Coulter? Laura Ingram/Laura Bush? It would drive the liberal left insane.

    Fred:

You say in part; “… certainly not worthy of harvest.”

While you are correct about my unworthiness, therein is your error; IT IS NOT YOUR HARVEST!

You were never appointed an inspector for the Lord of the Harvest! Nor, were you ever instructed to make pronouncements about the worthiness of others.

You seem to claim “Grace” as though you have earned it! Are you no longer a sinner?

I’m going to be praying for your success in your effort to be less judgmental, please try not to cheat by just giving it another name.

et #124 You obviously have read into what I wrote what you expected or wanted to find.

Nowhere did I say it was my harvest.

I certainly did not claim grace as though I had earned it.

It was written that Jesus said: “Matt. 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Matt. 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them”. This was directed to those who were followers of Himself.

Of course I never laid claim to not being a sinner - I am saved by grace (unmerited favor) and were it not for 1st John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I and a whole lot of others would be in big trouble.

Now I’ve met some who trot out and quote the list of the fruits of the Spirit and even the gifts of the Spirit; they attempt to represent and misapply them as being the fruit of a Christian. That is a satanic lie. As the fruit of an apple, pear or orange tree is more apples, pears and oranges - so the fruit of a Christian is more Christians.

I may be wrong and if indeed you have been used by the Lord to sit down with a non-Christian and opening God’s Word and the plan of Salvation, led that person to a saving knowledge of Christ, then I humbly apologize and ask your forgiveness. However over a prolonged period of reading what you write I have never been given any reason to believe that you have done that.. Which, if true, would render you fruitless.

The primary duty of a Pastor or Elder is the “Equipping of the Saints” (Christians) so that they can go into all the world and make disciples. Otherwise known as “The Great Commission”.

    Fred,

I know what has been called “The Great Commission”; but can you cite for me the scriptural authority for this statement: “The primary duty of a Pastor or Elder is the “Equipping of the Saints (Christians)”?

et # 129 - I was remembering what I heard John MacArthur say in one of his sermons about personal evangelism, that it was not the preachers duty to “win souls for Christ” his duty was to equip the saints in the congregation to go out and having been equipped for the work, it was their responsibility fulfill the great commission.

Unfortunately he winds up doing the work, due to the failure of individual Christians to do so.

The closest I could find to what he said is found in Paul’s letter to the church at Ephesus.

    Eph. 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
Eph. 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Eph. 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

I added the parentheses because there are many who have been taught that saints have to be certified by some higher earthly authority in spite of the innumerable references in Scripture to Christians as saints.

Yes, “saint” == a person who has been “sanctified” .

I don’t need a human to “decide” I am a saint, I’ve been washed in the Blood-I’m sanctified.

I get derision from the Biblically Challenged when I say such things as, “I am not a sinner, I am a saint,” but that’s okay.

I already know all of the Obsequious Narcissistic responses so, rather than make assumptions about me and regurgitate 2,000 years of worn-out ad hominem, just prove me wrong-I dare ya.

Amen, JL3 (re#133)! As a joint-heir with Christ, I’d rather have that Glory-home than any dingy niche in Rome. :-)

It seems odd that Biblical Epistles would be addressed specifically to saints in various cities when the practice of idolization canonization was still centuries away; the only reasonable answer is that those in the intended audience were all being sanctified [Hebrews 10:14].

Back to Hillary’s qualifications, it appears from this that Mrs. Clinton was frequently sent to do the jobs Delta Force wouldn’t do. ”The dictum around the Oval Office in the ’90s, she added, was: “If a place was too dangerous, too poor or too small, send the first lady.””

Now, as to why the President would repeatedly send his wife in harm’s way we can only speculate, but it does seem odd the Oval Office flag went to half-mast whenever Hillary returned unharmed …

  • 136 JamesonLewis3rd // Jan 1, 2008 at 8:25 am

Yep. Every time Clinton opens her delusional mouth the more she demonstrates her ineptitude. She becomes less of a viable candidate every day-I think she is going to be devastated by this week’s caucus results, by the way-her entertainment value (the wave crest she has been riding) will decrease considerably-I predict her Obsequious Narcissistic Persona will surface with a vicious fury and scuttle her entire campaign (it will be the VRWC’s fault, of course) in fairly short order.

Just too Hillarious - For those wannabee Muslims anxiously awaiting an opportunity to be offended - it’s a joke, O.K.? Now you can tell one about Billy Graham or Oral Roberts - I already know several.

Subject: The Pope and Hillary Clinton

The Pope and Hillary Clinton are on the same stage in front of a huge
    crowd.

‘Her Majesty’ and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before, so to
make it a little more interesting, the senator says to the Pope, “Did you
know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every Democrat in
    the crowd go wild?”

He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture
and cheering from every democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering
    subsides.

The Pope, not wanting to be out done by such a level of arrogance,
considers what he could do. “That was impressive. But did you know that
with just one little wave of MY hand I can make EVERY person in the crowd
go crazy with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that of
you but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this
    day and rejoice.”

The senator seriously doubts this, and says so. “One little wave of your
hand and all people will rejoice forever? Show me.”

    So the Pope slapped her.

Curiously enough, I have noticed that some prayers go unanswered. The cop-out of course is, “Sometimes God says “Yes”, sometimes God says”No”, and then there are times when God says “Wait”, or “Maybe”.

I did not find that to be true - especially in the “Old Testament” but I think I’ve found a clue? Some (a lot in fact) step over the edge to the point where they are downright rude. People with a lot of gall. David did a lot of praying boldly! In a word study I wondered that God did not strike him down on the spot. Listen to me quickly. - Give me your ear - Listen to me. - Don’t turn your face away.

Psa. 69:17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
Psa. 86:1 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

Psa. 143:7 Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

Is. 59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

Sometimes God chooses not to hear because the petitioner has some unconfessed sin, or sins causing the prayers to bounce off of the ceiling. Psa. 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: Is. 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

I thought I would try and see what happened. I am a sinner, saved by God’s grace, through faith. (Eph. 2:8,9) So, before praying, I now follow 1st Jn: 1:9 and although I can mess up a few minutes later. For that slice of time I have been cleansed of all unrighteousness, so it seemed then is the time to bring my petitions to God, being careful to not “ask amiss” (James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.) So, it could be that the reason I had unanswered prayers was that God never heard them.

The results have been phenomenal! I wish someone had pointed this out to me long ago.
