NYC Murders Drop, Democrats Call for Cop Pull Out

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 40 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2007-11-24) — As the number of murders in New York City reached a 40-year low, Democrats in Congress introduced a measure calling for an immediate and total pull-out of law enforcement personnel citing the high cost of fighting crime, the risk to those in uniform and “lack of political progress” in the city.

In a typical Congressional maneuver, Democrats attached the redeployment measure as an amendment to an unrelated bill, sponsored by Republicans, which would provide senior citizens with a taxpayer-funded MediCare prescription golf benefit.

Official statistics show the Big Apple’s murder rate is now less than a quarter of what it was in 1990, but Democrats in Congress say the reduction has nothing to do with the actions of the New York City Police Department or the policies of the last two Republican mayors.

“The dip in the murder rate is certainly temporary,” said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, “and it presents us with a window of opportunity to safely extract our brave men and women in uniform before the slaughter returns to normal levels.”

New Amsterdam scion Johann Murthaasma said in 1776, “The war is lost.” Theo “Ted” VanKennedy blasted “General Whitewashington for overstating the success of our troops. “Europe hates us,” we were told just before Lafayette landed. Clearly the Democrats are on (to?) something. The Libertarians want to legalize it, whatever it is.

Wasn’t there a movie with Kurt Russell, about a future time ,when they turned all of New York City into a big prison?
If they withdrew all the Police from NY, would it take a whole week for it to really happen?

Everyone knows Yankees and Mets followers have hated each other since the beginning of time. There’s no point in even trying to help these barbarians.

… and we need to pull the cops out as fast as possible because having armed police in NYC has only stirred up the hornet’s nest. Gang bangers and organized crime will behave themselves once the pressure of law enforcement is removed.

On another front, another take on the news:

    Mankind ’shortening the universe’s life’
It’s America’s fault since we have the most astronomers looking at the universe.

Celebrities Flee Homes Threatened by Malibu Hell Fires
Where’s the government? Where’s FEMA? Where’s equal protection under the law? It’s all Bush’s fault!

Hugo Chavez: Only a ‘Traitor’ Will Vote No…
I bet if American leftists (liberals) lived in Venezuela they’d be voting “yes”. “We’re patriotic, we support Commie Dictators!”

BTW, how many liberals did you know that railed against Soviet Communists right before the Berlin wall fell in 1989? I don’t remember one. I do remember liberal Democrats saying how we should learn to co-exist with the Sov-Coms (which are making a comeback under Putin) , that we need to “understand” communists, that we were unfairly demonizing them, therefore if there was a nuclear war it was America’s fault.

Remember all those stories after the Berlin Wall fell about the Soviets dumping used up nuclear fuel in their lakes and building second-class nuclear generating plants? This is how secretive left-wing collectivist governments work when it’s in their national interest to do so. The American left may not dump low-grade nuclear waste in our rivers and lake but they think nothing of dumping their radioactive lies and bankrupt social programs on the American people thus making us all pay for their altruistic idiocies.

    Prescription golf benefit-

You can only play on gov. designated courses with rented balls since you can’t have any of your own. It wouldn’t be fair.

“The dip in the murder rate is certainly temporary,” said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY, “and it presents us with a window of opportunity to safely extract our brave men and women in uniform before the slaughter returns to normal levels.”

He meant to say “to insure that the slaughter returns to normal levels. Where’s the camera?”

Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, leader of the world’s Anglicans, has taken the Art of Apple/Orange Comparisonism to a New Level:

Drawing comparisons between British imperialism and the 21st Century United States, Williams said: “It is one thing to take over a territory and then pour energy and resources into administering and normalizing it.

“Rigthly [sic] or wrongly, that is what the British Empire did — in India for example.”

“It is another thing to go in on the assumption that a quick burst of violent action will somehow clear the decks and that you can move on and other people will put things back together again — Iraq for example.”

    As the caveman said: “Uh…..what!?!

Imagine how much mileage the libs could milk this for if they told every kid who sees a falling star that it was his fault.

Back on(off) topic — the news today included a piece on how an unexpectedly successful “Black Friday” this year proves the economy is failing and consumer confidence is shot.

Did you hear about the british lady that taunted Iraqi vets right out of a public pool citing they didn’t pay enough to be there and they were scaring the children because they had lost limbs.
EVACUATE the libs to another freaking planet! Or maybe they should join thier enviro freakish friends and sterilize themselves to save the earth another carbon footprint.

Maybe Da Palma can make a REAL movie and this could be his theme: a Young beautiful Saudi girl is gang raped by 7 civilians. She is charged with being alone with men and committing adultry sentenced to 6 months in jail and 200 or more lashes.
Wow. I know. I know. It sounds really far fetched but it would make an amazing movie.

Robert’s Rule of Order: “Don’t shoot at the Army, and don’t wave at the cops.”

I figure everyone must be back home from the [hopefully] exhilarating experience of close proximity to their immediate families. I hope everyone’s Thanksgiving was better than my frozen, processed turkey dinner.

I learned one thing while saying a blessing over my meager meal. Great Scott, and those who post here, are a blessing to be thankful for. I learned this while composing a prayer, and y’all jumped to the top of the list.

Go with God, and we’re live from Scorpion Hill.

Murder will be dealt with this coming Tuesday on 11 Alive, one of the Big Three networks that interviewed me for over an hour to boil it down to a two-minute sound bite. It’ll be available outside the region for a while at 11Alive.com. as streaming video.

Perhaps they are being a bit too hasty, if they would take the cops and give them a more useful role. They could take these terrorists out of the neighborhoods and turn them into good productive agents of social change, just take away their guns and give them free condoms, needles, etc.
    These cops can be rehabilitated!

“The dip in the murder rate is certainly temporary,” said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-NY

You forgot to quote him as saying the low number is due to all inhabitants fleeing to the nearby regions. In fact, “No one left (to be murdered).”
