‘24′ Inks Comic Garofalo, Still in Talks with Michael Moore

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 25 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2007-08-21) — Self-described “right-wing nut job” Joel Surnow announced today that leftist comic and former Air America host, Janeane Garofalo, would have a role in the upcoming season of the Fox action drama ‘24′.

Mr. Surnow, the show’s executive producer, said negotiations continue to sign Oscar-winning documentarist Michael Moore as a “terror-fighting buddy” for the hero, Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland.

The season premier script currently calls for Ms. Garofalo’s character to engage in a running gun battle with Mr. Bauer and his buddy, during which all three of them will leap over the body of professional golfer Greg Norman.

    How very odd!

Thanks OLA, I’ll watch for updates for the “fest”

Ah, I have to click the links to “get it”. Not normally, but this time it’s critical.

    Funny Scott!

Sounds like a winner! Unquestionably, Jack shooting his former “terror-fighting buddy” Curtis would be eclipsed by having him take out both “baddie” Garofolo and “buddy” Moore. I just hope it happens in the first five minutes. Better yet, before.

Whoops. I meant Garofoulo er, Garofalo.

  • 7 da Bunny // Aug 21, 2007 at 10:43 am

I can’t even comment on the article, yet. I’m still stuck on the title, which refers to Garofalo as a “Comic.” I guess if one finds strident stupidity and incoherent, raging liberalism funny, then she could be described as a “comic.”

Considering that 24’s seventh season will feature a Hillary character who is openly, um, immune to Jack’s romantic qualities, the “jump” has already failed and there’s blood in the water. It’s a good thing Keefer got that contract signed early.

    Yawn

Being that I never saw an episode of 24 and I have no clue about the mental stability of anyone from Air America, including Janeane Garofalo, plus I don’t think I know who Joel Surnow is, I will hold my comments until my senility calms down.

Why do I not not know who these players are??

… or fat body appliances required, bober.

Is this the “24″ where Al Franken is president and America is going to hades in a handbasket?

I think that 24 has “jumped the shark.”

RedPepper, Hillary and Obama can reprise the role of the Ferengi in a remake of Deep Space Nine. But then Ferengi females run around naked … NEVER MIND!

Barack Hussein Obama as a Ferengi. A clear family resemblance!

MsRightWing, I’ve never watched “24,” either, so don’t feel too left out by not knowing the “players.” I do know who Garofalo is, however, and she is a flaming liberal. My favorite “rip” on her comes from Mancow Mueller, who refers to her as “Gawdawfulho’.” :-)

  • 16 Darthmeister // Aug 21, 2007 at 12:12 pm

Oh, I get the Greg “the shark” Norman reference now, Scott. I didn’t follow the link the first time around. Great minds and all that but you added an extra layer of satire. Touché!

It took me longer than normal too Hank. Scott’s getting crafty and prolific at the same time, scary!

Not as scary as Hillary but then nothing is…

No fat suit, again, good one Hank

We’re sorry to interrupt the regularly scheduled program, but here is further information re Scrappleface Rally/ Scrapplefest ‘07.

After some reconnaissance today at the Kooser State Park campsite and environs, I picked up a number of brochures to share with our happy gatherers about activities and sight-seeing opportunities in the area, as well as recreational activities in the park and elsewhere. All are within a ten-fifteen-minute drive up to a forty-forty-five minute drive away.

The best meeting place for Scrappleface Rally gatherers will be at the park office near the entrance. Either someone (moi, probably) will be there to greet and offer guidance, or you will be directed to the cabin (or picnic pavillion) where most of the group activity will take place.

Because all of the rustic cabins at Kooser are already booked, the park personnel suggested that those who do not wish to tent or use RV’s may wish to book at the “sister” park four miles away, Laurel Hill State Park. These are more “modern” facilities, although there are no cooking or refrigeration elements in these cottages. All cooking must be done on grills on the screened-in porches or in fire rings. (Not to worry, though, I think that most of our group cooking and meals will be at the Kooser facility, where there are stoves and refrigerators.)

Here is a specific site for Kooser, including a map-quest link to the site: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/kooser.aspx

    Laurel Hill State Park: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/laurelhill.aspx

Some may be joining us for a day or two; some the entire Labor Day weekend: others may wish to explore the area for a whole-week vacation since cabin rentals are charged on a weekly basis.

I plan on bringing a raft of food since I have become the host for the area, but all contributions are welcome. Snacks, soft drinks, bottled water, paper plates and plastic forks are needed, too. Farmers’ market stands dot the area. If you get tired of “camp food”, there are lots of local restaurants from inexpensive home-cooking style to upper crust.

I am going to bring along some board games for our chill-out time. Bring along whatever you think might amuse us, including karaoke if you have it. (At heart, I think that we are frustrated entertainers.)

Back to your regularly scheduled program…

Eliza Gauger was inspired when she (at 17!) drew that symbol of the essential pairing of vigilence and Liberty. Sadly, she’s since withdrawn the artwork because, she says, she “no longer can support the current American political climate.”
