Obama Could Raise More If Married to Bill Clinton

by Scott Ott · 36 Comments

(2007-04-05) — Sen. Barack Obama, D-IL, whose presidential campaign raised $25 million in the first quarter from 100,000 contributors today said that he could have raised even more money if he were married to former President Bill Clinton, whose fundraising prowess is legendary.

“Even though I’m handicapped by not being married to former President Clinton,” Sen. Obama said, “I’m still in, and I’m in to win.”

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, who raised $26 million from only 50,000 donors, today tried to put the best face on her rival’s surprising success, noting that “money doesn’t matter. Votes matter. And when the primary comes, I’ll beat Obama even if I get only half as many votes.”

Size (of your campaign funding) matters…

That would pretty well lock up the gay vote too!

  • 3 Ms RightWing, Ink // Apr 5, 2007 at 8:24 am

Is this one of those “gay marriage,” thingy type article?

Just saw your bunny pic from yesterday. Now, instead of lamb, we will have rabbit for Easter. sigh

  • 4 Darthmeister // Apr 5, 2007 at 8:29 am

… and he would raise even more if he also married sHrillary. As any true, enlightened progressive knows, bi-sexual marriages are just as legitimate as homosexual marriages. I mean, who are we to deny such passionate “love”, right?

But what a cabal that would be! And in this light maybe the Donks can put a real twist on presidential politics by running on the centrist ticket of Clinton/Obama/O’Donnell

Good morning, all! I can’t decide which would be worse…to be married to Obama (yuk) or to be married to Hillary (yeewww) or to be married to Bill (double yeewwww)

MsRightwing, Ink: I take it that you are serving Welsh Rabbit Rarebit for Easter?

Here in Oklahoma we have jackrabbits the size of coyotes. Don’t know if they are good to eat, but they have a lot of meat on their bones!

C-A-T #9: Stinging indeed, but probably temporary. I’m betting on Pelosi’s office claiming a diplomatic victory in the Brit hostage situation, and blaming Bush if anything she did causes problems.

Pelosi’s managed to navigate the Damascus road without seeing the light.

I don’t know any Welsh people. I hear there is a clan West of Cleveland, but whether they would give up there rabbits or not, I know not.

Smooshed Peter Cottontail would work. We raised rabbits for consumption back in the 70’s, but I don’t think there are any left in the freezer

  • 16 upnorthlurkin // Apr 5, 2007 at 10:21 am

Well, pecan crusted chicken is pretty good….don’t they always say rabbit tastes like chicken?! Nah! Ick! Besides, how do you get a pretty presentation with tire tracks on the main course?!

On topic, I heard this contest was skewed anyway since Mrs Bill Clinton has been raising money for 6 years….not really apples vs apples.

  • 17 Darthmeister // Apr 5, 2007 at 11:00 am

Actually, upnorthlurkin, chicken tastes like rattlesnake.

    Ms RightWing,

We’re suffering a terrible bout of global warming in the central region of the Mid-West. Temperatures never got above freezing yesterday and last night it was 21 degrees Fahrenheit. Global Warming cold snap to last until next Tuesday.

    More Whitewashing of Democrats

BTW, where’s all the news stories about Diane Feinstein’s political corruption? Remember, Senator Dianne Feinstein resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee as chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years. During this time she had a clear conflict of interest because of her husband Richard C. Blum’s ownership of two major defense contractors that were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Diane Feinstein!

As MILCON leader, Feinstein even micromanaged one project. She regularly visited military bases around the world to inspect construction projects, some of which were contracted to her husband’s companies - Perini Corp. and URS Corp! Isn’t it interesting how the liberal Democrats can loathe the eeeeevil military industrial complex but have no problems with enrichening themselves or family members with military contracts?

Where’s the media outrage at this corrupt conflict of interest of a Senator who guided contracts her husband’s way? One can only imagine the endless firestorm if this had been a Republican.

Now the liar Nancy Pelosi (D-Moon) has made a horse’s arse of herself by putting words in the mouth of Israeli’s Prime Minister Olmert while attempting to appease Syria’s top dog thugocrat, Bashar Assad.

antodav: I’m not sure if you’re here at the moment, but I wanted to let you know that, contrary to your expectations, someone (well, me at least …) did read your last comment on the “Spirit of Easter” thread.

I have a couple of other articles I’d like to add to the discussion …

First one is titled The straightforward arithmetic of jihad . Here’s a sample :

It’s time we open our eyes and confront reality. Ever since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the media has sought to reassure us that only a tiny minority of Muslims actually support the use of violence against Israel and the West.
It’s just a small fringe, a marginal few at best, they tell us …
But a look at the numbers tells a very different story. The extent of support for global jihad is frightening in its proportions, and the numbers are anything but insignificant.

The second is a rather long piece (worth the time tho …) which includes an excellent discussion of the “cartoon jihad”. It’s called Hurray! We’re Capitulating! ; it’s actually an excerpt from a book of the same title which was published in Germany. Again, a sample:

At issue is freedom of opinion, one of the central tenets of the Enlightenment and democracy. And whether respect, consideration and tolerance are the right approach to dealing with cultures that, for their part, behave without respect, consideration or tolerance when it comes to anything they view as decadent, provocative and unworthy — from women in short skirts to cartoons they deem provocative without even having seen them.

BTW, no one ought to assume, as boberin seems to, that I’m advocating a “Kill ‘em all and let God sort ‘em out!” approach.

I would urge, however, that we at least not deceive ourselves about the seriousness of the situation.

    Happy reading, everyone …

Darth #20: The media outrage is not toward the crime; those are only excuses for attacking the real object of that outrage: disagreement.

I can’t help it, I have to post this, our Military Code of Conduct:

    I
I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

    II
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.

    III
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

    IV
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.

    V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.

    VI
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

Red, what is it that you suggest then? What are the choices, exactly?
It seems to me that, as a nation, we are fairly well armed and keep a pretty sharp eye on our borders. Yes, individuals can come across/into the country by a variety of means with evil intent.
Some came, more are here now. The ones that acted armed themselves with box cutters and did a great deal of damage. We cannot stop that sort of attack and are, for all intents and purposes immune to any other sort (from folks that live in tents/caves/etc…)
So, again I ask, other than cowering in the basement or declaring all out war on Muslim nations/people, what do you suggest?
Fear mongering is what the Republicans do best, I would expect a great answer. George doesn’t want Nancy (or anyone else) to talk to them, you claim not to want to kill them. What options am I missing here?
    Enlighten me!

    Beware the boogieman….NOT

That was some great satire. Thanks for the laugh. That’s why I come to this site… To laugh out load at the absurd world we live in. A world turned upside down.

Mr. Ott is the Master, and Liberal Larry runs a close second. But if you can keep putting out content like your comment #26……. You’ll give them a run for the money.

    A priceless comment.

I have the same problem, too, a comment won’t post when I submit it. And if I wait more than five or ten minutes and then post another comment, the first one has completely vanished … okay, Scott’s dog ate it. But when I post immediately after the disappearance, it comes up. Must be the NSA.

Boberin, Boberin…think boy, think! Why would you think that killing them and letting God hash it out is RedPepper’s only option? Were you ever in a class with a few hooligans who loved to cause trouble and the teacher held everyone accountable because she didn’t know who the culprits were? Somebody would invariably rat out the jerks and things would go back to normal for the rest.

Well, apply that principle to the Muslims. It is time to hold ALL of them accountable, whether at the border or in the country. All should have to register their whereabouts and be easliy accessible, with the knowledge that if the community starts ratting out the bad guys, the restrictions will be lifted for the rest. I would advocate the same thing for Christians or Jews if there were large numbers pulling the same stunts as the fundamentalist Muslims. If the Muslim community decides to clean out the riff-raff, then life can go back to normal. Pure and simple.
