Reid: Democrats Redeploy from Fox News Debate

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 33 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2007-03-10) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, said today that the Nevada State Democrat Party’s decision to pull out of a scheduled presidential debate co-hosted by Fox News is “actually a strategic redeployment, not a cut-and-run retreat.”

“There’s no reason to put our brave Democrat presidential candidates in harm’s way,” Sen. Reid said. “We were lured into this debate due to faulty intelligence, and the prudent thing to do is redeploy.”

The majority leader who initially backed the Fox News debate, said he began to question the intelligence that drew him to support the contest when he read the following joke made by Fox News Channel Chairman Roger Ailes at an industry awards ceremony:

And it is true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don’t know if it’s true that President Bush called Musharraf and said, ‘Why can’t we catch this guy?’

Sen. Reid said, “I cannot condone mocking the intelligence of a sitting president in time of war.”

The Democrat presidential hopefuls will redeploy to a casino on the Las Vegas strip for a non-partisan debate co-hosted by MoveOn.org and The New York Times.

Good Riddance~ They should redploy to Nicaragua. Hold the debate in France. Actually they could get a lot of support from VT and let Al Jazzera be their host.

  • 4 mig // Mar 10, 2007 at 7:48 am

Redploy is coded foxtalk for redeploy.

Well it looks like the three on a match theory will soon start to work.

Someone, sooner or later is going to get hot lead (that means hot type so let us not get crazy here) from some media’s gun.

I say let us clean out the insurgents who invaded DC, but then, since when have we had so much fun with the Democrats.

When the DailyKos first declared war on Fox News, Michelle Malkin referred to it as “Fox News Derangement Syndrome“.

Back in the day, back where I come from, Edward’s cowardly action would be called “cutting off his nose to spite his face.”

Imagine where we’d be if President Bush took orders from the Loony Leftist Liberals.

It’s almost funny how the LLL denies any bias in the rest of the MSM (those who just happen to pander to, and agree with, them).

What a joke. The mere existence of Fox News represents life in a police state to the Left.

We’re all for tolerance… except when it comes to opposing opinions.

  • 9 gafisher // Mar 10, 2007 at 9:16 am

Too bad the analogy breaks down. If this “redeployment” were another thinly veiled effort to surrender I’d be the first to help the Dems send their pathetic little snobs back to their families. Have you seen the John Edwards Motto? “Simper Fi”

  • 10 Darthmeister // Mar 10, 2007 at 9:24 am

And there’s a Democratic quagmire in Congress, too. What have the Dhimmiecritters done in Pelosi’s much vaunted “first 100 hours” … zilch, zero, nada!

And imagine the cat calls from liberals if conservatives were to boycott the lefty mouthpieces of CBS/NBC/ABC/NPR/CNN/MSNBC.

The UCLA media bias study I linked to above concluded:

The fourth most centrist outlet was “Special Report With Brit Hume” on Fox News, which often is cited by liberals as an egregious example of a right-wing outlet. While this news program proved to be right of center, the study found ABC’s “World News Tonight” and NBC’s “Nightly News” to be left of center. All three outlets were approximately equidistant from the center, the report found.

“If viewers spent an equal amount of time watching Fox’s ‘Special Report’ as ABC’s ‘World News’ and NBC’s ‘Nightly News,’ then they would receive a nearly perfectly balanced version of the news,” said Milyo, an associate professor of economics and public affairs at the University of Missouri at Columbia.

The study goes on to objectively demonstrate that virtually all news outlets are to the left of center, some very, very far left, like Ted Kennedy left. That’s why liberals often see centrists as being “right-wing” since they themselves are so far left. And this isn’t the only independent study to come to this conclusion.

So those on the left are invariably a lot further left than they think themselves to be … QUIT LYING TO YOURSELVES YA’ MOONBATS!

Pelosis’ clock only runs when they are working on specific items. That 100 hrs. could take awhile. I believe this is the list.
Real Security - At Home and Overseas
Energy Independence - Lower Gas Prices
    College Access for All
Better American Jobs. Better Pay. Prosperity for All.
    Retirement Security and Dignity
    Affordable Health Care

  • 12 Darthmeister // Mar 10, 2007 at 10:19 am

mig, you mean like a chess match? You know, after every move you get to turn your clock off? Buwahahahaha … I hadn’t thought of that. So that must mean they have something like 99 hours left since they haven’t accomplished a single move except make seventeen different proposals which engaged in seventeen different ways of saying “cut-and-run from Iraq”!

And how many of those items you listed have the DemDonks accomplish in their first one hundred hours of a Democratic-controlled Congress? (crickets chirping) … lying liberals.

  • 13 Darthmeister // Mar 10, 2007 at 10:25 am

… oh, I think you forgot the minimum wage law. Crickets still chirping on that one, too! What a bunch of incompetent bumpkins. And they only won the last election because they promised they would be different and actually get things done in Congress, including cutting-and-running redeploying from Iraq. Liars.

BTW, the extremely intelligent Howard Scream, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi apparently didn’t see the problem that would occur when they were only able to gain control of both houses of Congress by getting Blue Dog Democrats elected. The best laid plans of mice and Democrats …

Scott, the Dems might be able to get Marcos Moulitsas from the Daily Kos to moderate the “debate”. That would really make it fair and balanced.

  • 16 Possumtrot // Mar 10, 2007 at 12:28 pm

Harry Reid can talk the talk, but he can’t walk the walk. Front him or any other Democritter with a meaningful question, and they run for “no comment” territory.

Here’s something totally kinky and off-the-wall:

Yet another DC madam is threatening to expose her clientele. She insists that she was operating a strictly [no pun intended] “fanstasy/role playing” enterprise.

Sophisticated adults will recognize these code words for what they are. For the less informed, we are talking B&D/S&M, and we don’t mean “Spanish & Mexican” people here.

Availing myself of the wide social spectrum online, I asked a professional “mistress” what she made of this. Her answer: Harry Reid needs spanking, and Madame Pelosi is “a switch”.

I’m trying to keep this “air conditioned” for publication, so you grownups will have to undertake the definitions of these terms.

If that crazed madam sell her client list online, it will be fascinating. The “redeployment” will be a lot more significant than a cut-and-run to Okinawa.

    As I was saying…
Reading a few of these Right Wing sorrows is like listening to the Sadie Yoakum laments of Lil’ Abner.
It may be heartfelt and just as sincere as clean overalls, but the corn is as high, let’s see…as high as what?…I’ve got it…as high as an elephant’s eye.

I should know by now though that around here, when the Bush idolatry gets really going and the Red State true believers treat logic as a scarecrow, sophistication hasn’t a chance.

[...] Imagine if the Republicans refused to have a debate on CBS or CNN? What would be the reaction? Justified derision, no? Well, the Nevada Democrats have just pulled out of a debate hosted by Fox, which they lamely justify by pointing to Roger Ailes’ (Ailes runs Fox News) lame pun about Osama sounding like Obama, a pun that was just fine with them when made by one Senator Kennedy. Well, Scott Ott, pulls the requisite derision off, and Chuck, over at Redneckin’ piles on with a suggestion. Still, one wonders how people’s whose mindset seems to square with that of the more paranoid of the old John Bircher types can hope to hold onto a majority. Hat tip, Basil. [...]

Geeze I sure hope they are guilty of all of the accusations. Guys and gals over at LGF mst be some pretty sane folks.

REID: DEMOCRATS CUT AND RUN FROM FOX NEWS DEBATE

That sounds more like what is really happening.

Waldo Lydecker, how did you manage to find the time to get away from your sandbox and all your Tonkaâ„¢ toys? Did the Daily Kos give you the night off, too?

  • 26 Darthmeister // Mar 10, 2007 at 3:23 pm

I guess the Dhimmiecrats thought FOX News might ask them too hard of questions instead of throwing them softballs like the lamestream media.

Did you hear about the sequel they are making to “Harold and Kumar go to White Castle”?

It’s called “Barack and Kumar go to the White House”, but it is a documentary set in early 2009. Get that Academy Award ready.

The movie starts out with them buying a used Delorian. Then Barack goes back in time with Cindy Sheehan to strangle Hillary Clinton as a baby. Barack then kills Sheehan because she keeps harping about what he will owe her when he becomes President. This is actually the best part of the movie, followed closely by the Hillary “offing”!

Along the way, Barack stops off in Vietnam and befriends a young John Kerry who shows him how to “win” a Purple Heart. Barack keeps his instead of throwing them over a wall though.

The rest is just “fluff”, but an interesting ending with Barack having the White House painted black and moving into the playboy mansion after having Hugh Hefner arrested and beheaded. This was my third favorite part with “Hef” screaming like a 12 year old girl.

My advice is wait for it to come out on video.

  • 30 INJUSTICE PREVAILS // Mar 11, 2007 at 5:00 pm

If you and I have the courage to tell our elected officials that we want our national policy based upon what we know in our hearts is morally right. We cannot buy our security, our freedom from the threat of the bomb by committing an immorality so great as saying to a billion now in slavery behind the Iron Curtain,

“Give up your dreams of freedom because to save our own skin, we are willing to make a deal with your slave masters.”

    Alexander Hamilton said,

“A nation which can prefer disgrace to danger is prepared for a master, and deserves one.”

    Let’s set the record straight.

There is no argument over the choice between peace and war, but there is only one guaranteed way you can have peace-and you can have it in the next second-surrender.

Admittedly there is a risk in any course we follow other than this, but every lesson in history tells us that the greater risk lies in appeasement, and this is the specter our well-meaning liberal friends refuse to face-that their policy of accommodation is appeasement, and it gives no choice between peace and war, only between fight and surrender.

If we continue to accommodate, continue to back and retreat, eventually we have to face the final demand-the ultimatum. And what then? When Nikita Khrushchev has told his people he knows what our answer will be? He has told them that we are retreating under the pressure of the Cold War, and someday when the time comes to deliver the ultimatum, our surrender will be voluntary because by that time we will have weakened from within spiritually, morally, and economically.

He believes this because from our side he has heard voices pleading for “peace at any price” or “better Red than dead,” or as one commentator put it, he would rather “live on his knees than die on his feet.” And therein lies the road to war, because those voices don’t speak for the rest of us. You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery.

If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin-just in the face of this enemy?
Should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs?
Should Christ have refused the cross?
Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard ’round the world?

The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn’t die in vain.

Where, then, is the road to peace? Well, it’s a simple answer after all.You and I have the courage to say to our enemies,

“There is a price we will not pay.” There is a point beyond which they must not advance.

This is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater’s “peace through strength.” Winston Churchill said that “the destiny of man is not measured by material computation. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we are spirits-not animals.” And he said, “There is something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty.”You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on Earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness. We will keep in mind and remember that he has faith in us. He has faith that you and I have the ability and the dignity and the right to make our own decisions and determine our own destiny.

    Thank you very much.
