Pelosi to Dems: Jack Murtha is Jane Roe Jr.

by Scott Ott · 24 Comments

(2006-11-15) — In a last ditch effort to save Rep. Jack Murtha’s floundering candidacy for House Majority Leader, future House Speaker Nancy Pelosi today said Democrats “owe Jack Murtha big time for becoming the embodiment of our progressive defense policy the way Jane Roe became the pro-choice icon in the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade.”

“Jack Murtha is Jane Roe Jr.,” said Rep. Pelosi. “Just like we recruited that pathetic young woman for a Supreme Court test on abortion, we found Murtha — a former Marine war hero mind you — and positioned him as the poster boy for the Democrat policy of strength through redeployment. The least we can do is let him have the title of House Majority Leader for a while.”

Rep. Pelosi comforted mainstream Democrats concerned about the Pennsylvania lawmaker’s conservative positions on gun-control and abortion, by saying, “Don’t worry, just like Jane Roe never actually had an abortion, Jack Murtha won’t really be in charge of House Democrats.”

  • 4 gafisher // Nov 15, 2006 at 1:40 pm

Roe, wade, swim, run, just get out however you can.

  • 5 conserve-a-tips // Nov 15, 2006 at 1:57 pm

Tee hee. Oh, and God bless America?

    And Dag-nab-it. Darthmeister,
I had to leave for a bit but
had your song floating through my head,
but when I returned Ol’ Scott had started a new thread!

And so I place it here
    for your perusal dear:

    Chorus:
Strumming your guilt with our grumbling,
    Making our lifestyle ok.
Killing you softly with our song.
Killing you softly with our song,
    Nary a shotgun
    Nor rifle
Killing you softly, with our song.

    Verse 1:
We heard a navy ship was
    docking soon at our town.
We were successful keeping that from going down.
And then we saw our young boys,
    trained like those navy men
    Annnddd sssooooo weeee -
Strummed your guilt with our grumbling,
    Demonized ROTC,
Killing you softly with our song
Killing you softly with our song,
    Nary a shotgun
    Nor rifle
Killing you softly, with our song.

    Verse 2:
We felt all flushed - excited.
    Nothing embarrasses us.
We knew you’d cave-in to our
    Monumental fuss.
We know there are no limits
So we just keep right on…
Strumming your guilt with our grumbling,
    Demonizing ROTC,
Killing you softly with our song
Killing you softly with our song,
    Nary a shotgun
    Nor rifle
Killing you softly, with our song.

    Verse 3:
We sang because we know you,
Your weakness and your guilt -
Inspired an army - new - called
    Gay “Rot-C” be built.
    With Love that coincides with
    Our powder-puffy tilt -
Strumming your guilt with our grumbling,
    Demonizing ROTC,
Killing you softly with our song
Killing you softly with our song,
    Nary a shotgun
    Nor rifle
Killing you softly, with our song.

    Ohhhhhhhh oohhhhh…lalala….ohhh laalaaaaaaa

    Final chorus:
Now wars can be fought as love fests.
Boys can be trained to be gay
Killing you softly with their songs,
    Treating the whole town
    With Gay Pride
Killing you softly with their songs.
    With their sooonnnnggggs.

c.a.t, bravo! Now can I throw up?

Jack Abramoff had implicated the crook Senator Harry Reid? Say it ain’t so!

  • 7 conserve-a-tips // Nov 15, 2006 at 2:04 pm

Darthmeister, thenk yoo. Thenk yoo vury muuch.

Abromoff is just talking to prosecutors to save his skin? That means that Reid is lily white? Seems to me, the guy is going to prison and really doesn’t have much to lose.

Hey, Darthmeister! I was not aware that the strike tag worked here!

Count that day lost you don’t learn something new!

    Thank you!

    How the Democrats “clean house”…

(See previous: Murtha Accuses Dems of Swift Boating Him)…

  • 10 upnorthlurkin // Nov 15, 2006 at 3:43 pm

You hafta share….how do you do a strike?!!

  • 11 Darthmeister // Nov 15, 2006 at 4:29 pm

    upnorthlurkin,

You struck … strike by typing “” then type the word(s) you want struck, followed by ““.

  • 12 Darthmeister // Nov 15, 2006 at 4:32 pm

Geepers, let me explain it this way. Do you know how to bold using left arrow followed by “b” closed with right arrow? And then you follow the word or phrase you want bolded with left arrow followed by the slash then the letter “b” closed with a right arrow?

Instead of using the letter “b” between the arrows type the word “strike”.

  • 13 upnorthlurkin // Nov 15, 2006 at 5:36 pm

So, kind of like this? Test, test.

  • 14 upnorthlurkin // Nov 15, 2006 at 5:39 pm

    Cool! Thanks!

  • 15 conserve-a-tips // Nov 15, 2006 at 7:55 pm

OK, I’m trying it. Like striking this word?

    Hm-m-m-m…Lemme see if dis woiks

  • 17 The Great Santini // Nov 15, 2006 at 8:33 pm

Yes-s-s-s-s! That’s just what Marv Albert, er, all the Dems will say to Lugosi, er, Pelosi when she twists their arms to vote for Traitor/Trader Jack.

  • 18 The Great Santini // Nov 15, 2006 at 8:34 pm

Better quit while I’m still behind.

Michael Schwartz, chief of staff to Sen. Tom Coburn, stressed that the “election was not Democrats vs. Republicans but Republican promises vs. Republican performance, and corruption and the failure to deal with critical issues — immigration, Iraq, energy — led voters to lose confidence in the Republican Party.”

  • 20 mig // Nov 15, 2006 at 9:05 pm

“You cannot make the promises the Republican Party made in 2004 to conservatives then take no real action on them and expect conservatives to continue to vote you back into office,” he said. Ryun, whose father, Congressman Jim Ryun (KS), lost his election,

  • 21 mig // Nov 15, 2006 at 9:06 pm

    And Lastly-

The good news is that Republicans are well positioned to take back the House in 2008. Several seats were gifts to the Democrats (DeLay, Foley, and Sherwood), and it will be exceedingly difficult for Democrats to get re-elected to these seats in two years. If new House Speaker Nancy Pelosi faces a dilemma such as letting the Democrats go wild, they will alienate the general public; if she holds them in check, they have a problem with their base. As one commentator put it, “She will retain the majority only if she is smart and the Republicans are stupid.”

  • 22 mig // Nov 15, 2006 at 9:08 pm

    Okay one more-

Religious conservatives have supported the GOP steadily since Ronald Reagan was first elected in 1980. But neither Evangelical nor conservative Catholics have ever become anything like a reliable voting block comparable to African-American support for the Democratic Party. The reason is obvious: The religiously active voter has to be won over with each election, by each candidate and each party platform. From a religious perspective, that is as it should be, since a person’s faith should dictate political choices rather than vice versa.

This is a perfect description of the Murtha debacle! He is Pelosi’s poster child for the anti-war effort. Foe v. Raid…
