Bush: GOP Will Stand Down as Democrats Stand Up

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 22 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2006-10-26) — President George Bush, at a White House news conference yesterday, assured Americans that “Republicans will pull out of Congress as soon as Democrats are ready to govern and protect our nation, and not one day sooner.”

“We’ll stand down as Democrats stand up,” the president said, “We’ve been doing all we can to train them, teach them the value of liberty, and show them the importance of fighting the enemy before he shows up in your neighborhood.”

However, Mr. Bush acknowledged disappointment with the pace of that training.

“By this time, we had hoped they would be self-governing and ready to defend the nation,” he said, “but we’re committed to the goal, and we won’t pull out of Congress until we know they can handle it.”

While rejecting calls for a timeline, such as a November 7 redeployment, Mr. Bush talked about establishing “benchmarks of progress” for Democrats.

“Republicans will pull out of Congress allowing the Democrats to govern,” he said, “when the following benchmarks are met:
- when Democrats value life and liberty for our citizens more than they prize civil rights for our enemies,
- when Democrats understand that the answer to people who blow up and behead civilians can’t be found in the court room,
- when Democrats stop their abuse of women, millions of whom are mercilessly tortured and killed every year before they emerge from the womb,
- when Democrats see the harm to society in same-sex marriage and the benefit in same-sex education,
- when Democrats realize what the “il” in illegal alien stands for,
- when Democrats figure out that a “government of the people” must include people who don’t wear black robes at work, and
- when Democrats finally see a tax increase they don’t like, and a tax cut they do.”

    One word: Quagmire.

  • 3 onlineanalyst // Oct 26, 2006 at 7:18 am

How is it possible for the Dhimmis to “stand up” when they haven’t a leg to stand on?

(BTW: I added a few amusing Obama Rama links at the end of that earlier thread.)

I was originally gonna say something about a quagmire as I read the story, but gafisher got there first…and second, too.

As ’tis, I’ll ask: does jumping up (and down) count?

At first I thought this was funny and then I realized how unfunny it really is and the danger the DemoCraps would put us in if they take the House. But will take the second benchmark listed, I just love it, and spread it around today. It will be fun to watch the faces of Dems when these words are spoken!

Using a smiling face and speaking softly these words wounds them every time.

    … or Tahiti.

Naw, the libs will follow us there and ruin that place, too. Kind of like when liberal Californians flee their utopian state to go to places like Idaho and Montana and then screw those places up with their progressyve taxes and I-need-all-the-services-I-can-get attitude.

    “…allowing the Democrats to govern…”

“Allowing?” Pshaw! Conservatives and many Republicans have been encouraging, nay *begging* Democrats to govern for years, but most Dems prefer to play politics.

Darthmeister: Or Oklahoma…big influx of Californians here because of our cheap land prices.

Scott, this is awesome. I want to send this to my liberal father, but I don’t dare. I want to stay in the will.

Camojack, I’m thinking that if we divided the country into two parts, the North and the South, that might solve the civil war that is obviously going on. Although, that would not give voice to those on the east and left coasts. Perhaps it should be divided into three sections - Red, Blue and Purple. Muqtada al-Dean could head the Blue section and Ayman al-Murtha could rule the Purple one. The largest area - red - already has a governing body in place. The question would be, who gets the oil money? Oh? Right. Halliburton.

Darthmeister, thank you so much for that link. What an awesome article. I do hope that American voters are brighter then the Dems give them credit.

Excellent, Mister Ott. When Democrats see a tax cut they like. When pigs fly! They voted against tax cuts for the poorest cities.

Darth, thanks for the link to my favorite diva. It’s amazing how quickly the Dems scream quagmire when they don’t even know the difference between a mission and a war.

Ultimately, that is my plan. Actually, I was just looking at a job posting for a 737 Field Rep job based in Hawaii this very morning.

From BlameBush (I had to clean it up a little):

    THE PASSION OF NANCY PELOSI

As opposed to one’s sexuality, one’s religious faith is a private and personal matter, never to be imposed on anyone or displayed in public, but rather kept to oneself and concealed like an embarrassing skin condition. So it was with great reluctance that saucy sexpot and future Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, admitted that she is a devout Catholic – perhaps even more devout than John Kerry was during the 2004 elections. Every Sunday morning, the stridently pro-life Pelosies would gather around the family Bible, clutching their rosaries and wailing, “SWEET MERCIFUL JEEZUS, DON’T LET ONE MORE WOMAN EXERCISE HER CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO TEMINATE THE LIFELESS LUMP OF GOO FESTERING INSIDE THE WOMB YOU CURSED HER WITH!!!!”

Yet while her religious upbringing has gifted her with a deep sense of moral clarity and a strong grasp of the difference between right and wrong, she doesn’t allow it to interfere with her decision-making. Morals and values are peachy-keen when she’s in the big pointy building with the pretty windows; but when Congress is in session and she’s doing The People’s Work, she leaves all that “sanctity of human life” bilge at home.

That’s the fundamental difference between progressives and conservatives. Pelosi can be staunchly pro-life, yet still fight tooth and nail to insure that abortion is legal, affordable, and guilt-free fun for all ages. Conservatives, on the other hand, are incapable of turning their hoity-toity moral code off long enough to vote on a gay rights initiative, or legalize marijuana, or fund embryonic stem cell research so the rest of us can enjoy another Back to the Future flick.
