Hillary Named After U.S. President, Not Everest Climber

by Scott Ott · 20 Comments

(2006-10-18) — Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, this week acknowledged that she was not named after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first to conquer Mount Everest, but insisted that she did get her last name from a former U.S. president.

The senator’s campaign spokesman explained that the Edmund Hillary legend was simply “a sweet family story” that her mother, Dorothy Rodham, would tell to inspire greatness in her daughter, and to teach the future senator “the value of a flexible, results-oriented approach to truth.”

The New York Times printed a correction yesterday, noting that the mountain climber was an unknown beekeeper when Mrs. Clinton was born, six years before he climbed Everest.

“It’s fair to say that Sen. Clinton might not have become what she is today without the false but meaningful inspiration she drew from her mother’s loving deception,” said campaign spokesman Jennifer Hanley. “In many ways, bearing the Clinton name has provided similar inspiration to her.”

I’m still confused. This explains the “Hillary” name that the media uses, but where does the female canine name, which I hear her referred to so often, come from?

Seadog #2: She got that from Sen. Bayh, an old family friend.

Can all the polls be wrong? It’s possible. Here’s another excellent analysis of how media polls have been and may be wrong. Interesting stuff.

Scott, shouldn’t “sweet family a story” read a “sweet family story”?

I always assumed Hillary Clinton was named after J. Edgar Hoover’s transvestite alter-ego.

My understanding is he still looked better in a skirt than she does, which may explain why Hillary always wears pants.

Silly me. I always thought Hildebeest was named after the wildebeest — that Noble Gnu of the Serengeti.

Umm… so let me get this straight, Hillary’s Mom telling her daughter a LIE to ‘inspire greatness.’ Now I see that ‘triangulation’ theory of future greatness and instilling a Deep regard for the truth. Hillary’s Mom would’ve been better off just saying, “Hmm… because I felt like it.” But, NO the general public is left with an amusing untruth(harbinger of future plans of untruths).

Waah! The co-Presidency was a bust. Thank you for setting the conditions for the attacks of 9/11/2001.

And all of this time, I was deluded into thinking she was named after Dennis Rodham…
