Bush Offers to Jail Terror Suspects on Capitol Hill

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 48 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2006-09-07) — President George Bush, faced with concerns for the civil rights of 14 suspected high-level Islamic terrorists [PDF] who had been held secretly by the CIA, today altered his plan to house them at Guantanamo Bay pending military tribunals, and said instead they would be jailed in several cloak rooms on Capitol Hill.

“Our friends in Congress want to assure that these men get fair treatment like any U.S. citizen,” said Mr. Bush, “so we’re going to detain them where every member of Congress can easily observe their detention conditions and treatment.”

The President said his new proposal represents “a reasonable compromise with those who think the objective of the war on terror is to provide American rights and freedoms to the people who worked and planned to destroy America, along with our rights and freedoms.”

Democrats in the Senate immediately introduced a bill to provide funding for the ACLU to get the terror suspects released on bond.

    BUT BUT BUT, I, I, I……….
Isn’t being exposed to Sen. Hillarys thighs in a cloak room CRUEL AND UNUSAL punishment. Heck look at what it did to Bill.

  • 3 MargeinMI // Sep 7, 2006 at 7:59 am

Seems like it would just contribute to the ‘cloak’ and dagger mentality of the average jihadist.

    Morning Libby!

With the Likes of Cynthia “Give me oil” McKinny and Maxipad Waters, we have our fill of terrorist sympathizers on Capitol Hill. I’m afraid that the addition of the Al Quida crew from Guantanamo will lead to over-crowding, and te early release of some terrorists.

  • 5 gpohara // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:17 am

Just wait until a prisoner throws [deleted] at McKinney. She’d be in a dillemma over whether to play the race card or complain that if the conditions were “humane” they wouldn’t be psychologically inclined to throw feces.

  • 6 Darthmeister // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:21 am

Well, that’s special. I bet the Islamofascists will feel right home with the DemDonk representatives.

This will bring a little reality to the moonbat Dems who have been saying, “War? What war?”

  • 7 Hawkeye // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:27 am

Funny stuff Scott, as usual. Too bad that your last line is probably true!

  • 8 camojack // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:28 am

“It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress.”
    -Mark Twain

So, Capitol Hill is an appropriate venue for those other criminals, too…

  • 9 JamesonLewis3rd // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:39 am

As far as I’m concerned, their trials should already have taken place, judgements passed and sentences carried out.

  • 10 Shelly // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:49 am

If only the left in this country wanted to extend these same rights to Republicans. Sigh.

  • 11 JamesonLewis3rd // Sep 7, 2006 at 8:55 am

I simply cannot believe that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be permitted to attend this month’s U.N. General Assembly session, let alone to enter the USA. I don’t care what the rules say…..and neither does he.

In 1988 the Reagan administration refused to issue a visa to PLO chairman Yasser Arafat to attend a General Assembly session because of his “associations with terrorism.”

    Let’s not be gutless. Please.

  • 12 upnorthlurkin // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:08 am

The second to last paragraph is so true it’s depressing! Like we’ve detained these guys for jaywalking or running a stop sign…it’s always been my understanding they’re real dangerous guys!

  • 13 Ms RightWing, Ink // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:12 am

Well, if we are going to bring red blooded murderers over to this side of the world, then we must have televised suspense.

How about a slow speed escape in a white Bronco???!!??

  • 14 JamesonLewis3rd // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:14 am

    From NRO:

“The Geneva Conventions are by no means anachronistic; they remain the proper legal framework for waging a conventional war against a regularly constituted army. But applying the strict letter of the Geneva Conventions to Islamist militants is like applying the Queensbury Rules to a donnybrook. When terrorists have shown no interest in abiding by the Geneva Conventions, it is naïve to think that we can shame them into doing so by treating them as though they have. The best way for the United States to honor the Geneva Conventions is to enforce the principle of reciprocity and deny Geneva protections to those who scorn them.”

  • 15 Maggie // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:22 am

Scott…..great idea! Have you considered the use of FEMA(Foreign Evil Murderers Accomidations) trailors for housing these terrorists?

  • 16 Darthmeister // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:31 am

    JL3,

Maybe some Islamofascist will blow Ahmadaboutjihad’s plane out of the sky out of sheer ignorance. Now wouldn’t that be poetic justice?

  • 17 Maggie // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:32 am

    BTW….Good Morning all,
It seems to me that I did not spell “accommodation” correctly in my previous comment.

    Ms Right Wing,Ink
Leave it to you to come up with the ideal remedy to this problem.LOL

  • 18 Just Ranting // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:36 am

There must be an island near Nantucket where we can house these thugs. As part of their prisoner work program they could help build a wind farm to provide energy to Massachusetts. It would make such a lovely view for the Kennedy compound. And Ol’ Teddy could provide some of the wind.

  • 19 boberinagain // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:36 am

    Good stuff Scott.
Maggie, a lot of those trailers will be opening up shortly when the government kicks those lazy southerners out of them, good idea!

  • 20 onlineanalyst // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:37 am

You’re too quick for me, Atilla. I was thinking along the same lines. Let’s not forget Teddy “Slam-Dunk” Kennedy and William “Kool Kash” Jefferson. Oh, the possibilities of the terrorists learning further dirty tricks in the closeted areas of Capitol Hill are endless.

Since the new venue being proposed is the cloak room, the choice is apt for the cloak-and-dagger shenanigans of the Dhimmicrats, who never saw a back that they couldn’t stab.

It’s so odd that the DUmb party is in high dudgeon about SecDef Rumsfeld and the “rights” of terror suspects when the Armitage-Powell-Fitz mess has “Plamed out”. In fact, the media have barely registered a blip over that malfeasance of justice. Then, too, they haven’t covered the current trial of Saddam re his atrocities against the Kurds, either. Ah, the list could go on…

  • 21 onlineanalyst // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:43 am

Just Ranting: Excellent idea re the wind farms. We could strap the terrorists to the blades and let them twist in the wind, so to speak. This is much more humane than the jihadist method of hanging charred bodies from bridges.

  • 22 onlineanalyst // Sep 7, 2006 at 9:50 am

Here’s the deal: We get to mete justice to the terror suspects. In exchange, we send to the terrorist network Conyers, Schumer, Pelosi, Murtha, Reid, Feingold, Kerry, Kennedy… (Feel free to add your own to the list.) It’s the least we can do to help Ahmadaboutjihad in Iran to make room for mahdi. Incarcerated terrorists will be fed some Lebanon baloney.

  • 23 Ms RightWing, Ink // Sep 7, 2006 at 10:00 am

Everyone knows over-crowded prison cells foment terrorism and prison riots. So I truly believe my idea for keeping the 14 suspected high-level Islamic terrorists happy and allow them to feel a life has meaning then use my one step plan.

    1) Send these and other terrorist to inner city-over crowded day care centers and allow them to change papmpers after a night of rug rat intensive chocolate pudding and pork chop consumption.

Then and then only will they feel connected to the circle of life. P.S.-no nose plugs allowed

  • 24 Maggie // Sep 7, 2006 at 10:06 am

    Onlineanalyst,

As usual, you nailed it.Great list and I would also add the entire ‘Black Caucus and ACLU.I believe those you listed are already active members in the terrorist network.

  • 26 TouchyFeely // Sep 7, 2006 at 10:19 am

Like tomatoes that hear the creaking of the garden gate, congressmen get a little nervous around jails.

  • 27 GrimmerReaper // Sep 7, 2006 at 10:28 am

Good one, Scott. One thing about this…Rush mentioned yesterday on his show that just because they are going to Gitmo doesn’t mean we have to have trials anytime soon. Even the hallowed Geneva Convention states we can hold them for the duration of the war, as we did Nazi prisoners until after the the Second World War and then tried them at Nuremburg.

And onlineanalyst, I would add Joe “I never had an original idea in my life” Biden and a future third round draft pick to the trade.

    Off Topic…

If you notice sheep in your neighborhood quivering, it is because Former Iranian President Mohammed Khatomi is coming. He’ll be in Washington DC and then on to Harvard University to speak on TOLERANCE! Grab your burkha and head on down for a great time ladies. That’s like having Bill Clinton lecture on celibacy or Jeffrey Dahmer speak on vegetarianism.

Just Ranting: Great idea about Nantucket, but I think that the punishment should be carrying water in a bucket and well…you know the rest of that limerick.

And Scott, it might work, but I doubt it, as the linguini spined liberals would just accept Islam, throw in with the gang of 14…well…the gang of 28 if you add in the OTHER gang of 14… and the rest of Congress would be checking to see if their heads were still intact.

I honestly did not see your post when I posted, I guess we must think alike.

I was in too big a hurry to post before reading the comments.

I still like the idea of putting a few with “Stretch” Pelosi.

    Question.
Does lil Ahmed really understand the USA enough to come here? Is he fully aware of our customs? Has he taken the DNC sensitivity course? Would he TOLERATE someone saying IRAN should be wiped off the map? Does he know that I am a cook at the UN (and per Emeril) include pork fat in every entree’? BAM!

Maggie, speaking of Burka clad women, did you see that a hospital in Great Britain has designed Burka hospital gowns for Muslim patients? It seems to be all the rage and other hospitals are looking into joining the gang. I am wondering why they can’t design a gown that is not slit down the back for those of us modest enough to hate flashing our tushes.

Raymond Luxury Yacht: That’s not my name!
Interviewer: [tries literal pronunciation] I’m sorry; Raymond Luxury Yatscht.
Raymond Luxury Yacht: No no no, it’s spelled, “Raymond Luxury Yacht,” but it’s pronounced, “Throat Warbler Mangrove”.
Interviewer: You are a very silly man, and I’m not going to interview you.

As many face-lifts as”Stretch ” Pelosi has had ,if the Islamofascists cut her throat they would find:

    1. Her appendix
    2. Her kneecap
    3. Her big toe
    4. All of the above

You are such a smart bunch!!

  • 48 Darthmeister // Sep 8, 2006 at 4:50 am

That one fo these religions’ believers points out the contradicitons in a competing faith while ignoring or explaining aways the contradictions in his own should come as no surpirse. That’s simply how the religious mind operates.

And your religious mind also seems to be operating quite well, too, Godfrey.

And what, praytell, are we to make of a person who continues lying to themselves about the true nature of their own belief? Not even a Supreme Court decision about the religious nature of atheist thought seems to phase your denial that atheism isn’t a religion with its own doctrines of faith which do make certain dogmatic, unproveable statements about the existence or non-existence of God. Good one, sir.

BTW, your non sequitor about how incorporating individual’s eyewitness truthful perspectives somehow undermines the concept of the infallibility of Holy Writ and its core teachings about the existence of a Creator is rather flabbergasting, if I’m understanding you correctly. And why would I want to read another author’s fanciful account about how the Bible supposedly came into existence (as if I haven’t been bored to tears with the other fifteen or so I’ve read on this topic the last thirty years) when all I have to do is Google the issue and find any number of atheist/skeptic sites that regurgitate pretty much the same ol’ same ol’ atheist screeds?

Your statement is actually hypocritical, Hank, and here’s why: despite his lambasting of Christianity Adam Gadahn is more like you then he is like me.

Guilty conscience, Godfrey? Where did I include you in my statement about that Islamofascist nutbag? I posted that in reference to some vitriolic conversations I’ve had with liberal atheists who were villifying conservative Christians just as this yahoo was doing. Thank you for your overt slander toward me and your overwrought emotional presumptiousness. And you are suppose to represent the epitome of logical thought and analysis? If you can’t even control yourself with respect to some five sentence post I made, then how in the world do you set yourself up as judge of something far more complex and nuanced as the Bible? Physician, heal thyself.
