(2006-05-30) — Experts at the World Health Organization raised concerns of a possible pandemic as news broke this week of the first known case of ‘the culture of corruption’ afflicting a Democrat.
The first apparent Republican-to-Democrat transmission was announced as Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, showed symptoms of having received expensive boxing tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission while it was trying to influence legislation in the Senate.
In an emotional news conference this morning, Sen. Reid announced he would admit himself to a 30-day program to receive treatment after apparently contracting the debilitating culture, which spreads by casual contact.
When fellow Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, who paid for his boxing ticket, first confronted Sen. Reid at an Oscar De La Hoya championship bout in Las Vegas, the Minority Leader seemed disoriented and said he was on his way to the Senate for a vote.
Sen. Reid this morning said he would immediately submit to a blood test to see if the prescription sleep aid Ambien may have caused him to succumb to the culture of corruption.
