(2005-04-29) — America’s premier talk radio host, Rush Limbaugh, may face new legal troubles today after the Florida Supreme Court voted 4-3 to reject an appeal to keep his personal medical records private.
An assistant state attorney announced that in addition to an ongoing investigation into accusations of so-called ‘doctor shopping’, Mr. Limbaugh now faces a probe into possible charges of “justice shopping” because he took his case to more than one Florida court.
“The state supreme court’s refusal to hear Limbaugh’s appeal is a triumph of American civil rights,” said the unnamed assistant state attorney. “The government has a basic right to pry into your personal life in hopes of finding evidence to back unsubstantiated charges against you. And just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you automatically get so-called Fourth Amendment protections.”
