(2002-10-09) — The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency released a previously-classified memo today which included this chilling sentence: “Saddam has Amanpour technology.”
A CIA spokesman refused to comment on the memo, except to say, “Think about it. Saddam won’t let CNN international correspondent Christiane Amanpour into Iraq. Therefore, Iraq must have Amanpour technology of its own.
The specter of deployment of an Iraqi Amanpour sent Pentagon planners scrambling to develop response scenarios.
