Kerry Lauded for Iraq Sovereignty, Praises Bush
(2004-06-29) — Democrat presidential hopeful John Forbes Kerry today received praise from party insiders for his leadership which resulted in the transfer of sovereignty to the Iraqi people from the U.S.-led Coalition Provisional Authority two days ahead of schedule.
“As everyone recalls, Senator Kerry voted in favor of invading Iraq and unseating its despotic dictator,” said one official at the Democrat National Committee (DNC), who wished to remain anonymous. “Man of vision that he is, Senator Kerry foresaw this day when the people of Iraq would start living under their own laws for the first time in decades.”
Senator Kerry characteristically downplayed his own role in granting freedom to Iraq.
“As one of the senators who served in Vietnam, I know firsthand the price of freedom,” said Mr. Kerry. “Every Iraqi deserves a chance to live free as I do. The credit goes to President Bush who remained steadfast in his commitment to Iraqis and Americans despite the barrage of naysayers who claimed that the transfer would never happen by June 30.”
Echoing his mentor, John F. Kennedy, Mr. Kerry expressed the unity of all free people with the people of Iraq, saying, “Ich bin ein Iraker, or as my people say, ‘Je suis un Irakien’.”
Scott Nails it again
…as my people say, ‘Je suis un Irakien’. Freakin’ brilliant….
