(2002-10-01) — Ted Turner, a retired businessman who runs a bison ranch in Montana, has cancelled his AOL Time Warner Cable subscription.
“It’s nothing like they promised,” said Turner. “The telemarketer guy told me there would be blockbuster movies every day, and with 225 channels, I’d always have something to watch. But in reality there’s about one good movie a month and it runs 300 times. And who in ‘tarnation needs six HBOs?”
Turner will also cancel his cable internet service, another AOL Time Warner product.
“This whole information and entertainment conglomerate ain’t worth nowhere near what I pay,” he said. “I think I got snookered by a slick salesman. This is way overvalued, and I want my money back. If I were running that company, I’d only promise what I could really deliver.”
