Army Offers Gitmo Package to Boost Recruiting
by Scott Ott

(2005-06-15) -- Faced with the challenge of meeting new, higher recruiting goals, the Army today announced it would offer qualifying candidates an opportunity to be housed at the Guantanamo Bay military detention center during boot camp.

The offer comes a day after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told Pentagon reporters that terrorist detainees at 'Gitmo' receive more expensive meals than U.S. troops, free copies of the Koran and time to pray five times daily.

"Our only concern about the Gitmo offer," said the unnamed Pentagon spokesman, "is that it will spark complaints from our existing forces who didn't get 'the gulag treatment' when they were in training."
