Hollywood Stars: MLB Doping Sends 'Terrible Message' by Scott Ott (2005-03-17) -- Major League Baseball's steroid scandal sends "a terrible message to kids," according to an unnamed spokesman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "It gives all entertainers a bad name when baseball players use performance enhancing drugs," the Academy source said. "All Hollywood stars are encouraged that Congress is holding hearings on this threat to our nation's precious children." In an effort to stem the surge of teen drug abuse, the Academy next year will award a special Oscar for Best Film by a Drug-Free Studio. "We think this will generate incredible buzz for our family-friendly, substance-free film studios," said the source. "Today we're launching our year-long search for nominees."
