High Court to Rule on Gore Presidential Library
by Scott Ott

(2004-11-18) -- On the day when friends and devotees of former President Bill Clinton gathered in the rain for the opening of The Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Supreme Court agreed to decide whether fans of former Vice President Al Gore can erect a presidential library to commemorate the man who won the popular vote in 2000.

The Albert Gore Jr. Presidential Library is nearly complete--awaiting only the funding, the architectural plans, certain legal permissions and a location.

In an amicus brief to the court, an unnamed historian wrote, "During the last four years Mr. Gore has accumulated documents, recordings of speeches and impressive before-and-after photos which constitute a national treasure and deserve to be treated as such."
