(2003-07-02) — A day after announcing a new policy to prevent discrimination against its homosexual employees, the Wal-Mart home office has received a complaint from an associate who “feels excluded” due to his bad breath, and unkempt appearance.
“Being a video gamer gives me little time to attend to personal hygiene,” wrote the 19-year-old associate from store #1165. “Other associates avoid me in the break room, make disparaging remarks about my wrinkled vest, and leave bottles of Listerine at my register.”
A spokesman for Wal-Mart said the company is developing anti-discrimination training to encourage its associates to “embrace the disheveled and aromatic among us.”
