A Job Saved: Obama Economic Adviser Back at Berkeley

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 13 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2010-06-08) — Christina Romer, head of President Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers, has spent months helping the president to recover the nation from the Bush economic crisis, but today she announced that she’s making the transition from being “an agent of recovery, to a beneficiary of the president’s popular policies.”

Ms. Romer said that in September, she’ll return to her job as economics professor at the University of California, Berkeley — a job saved by Mr. Obama himself.

“My saved job represents another ray of hope in this summer of recovery,” said Ms. Romer, “and it’s frankly a more compelling narrative than the cold statistics about unemployment at 9.5 percent, or the data that shows we overestimated payrolls by 97,000 workers in May and June.”

In the coming days and weeks, a spokesman said, the White House expects to save or create more jobs with this technique.

Sorry to see her go. The stimulus package she pushed for was working so well too. Now it will probably fail without her expert leadership.

And in 2012, Obama can return to his community organizer job in Chicago, so that is two jobs he saved!

I love it when the subject line of an email makes me laugh, as this one did. Thanks, Scott.

    Berkeley eh? Gosh. Whodathunkit?

She has a kid starting high school this year, this was cited to suggest it as a factor motivating her covert dash for the Left Coast. Perhaps she simply wants to be motherly and, therefore, absolutely certain that her little boy is being properly indoctrinated [inundated] with the social progressive ideology of revolution for its own sake wherein the end justifies the means. She wants her spawn to be the last man standing, of course. (She's sure he would release her from the gulag in the end and They would rule the world forever.)

mmm, did Romer wake up and realize oh-my-god-what-have-I-done?
Or, did she realize, "wow, this water is up to my ankles, time to abandon ship"?

A story today…and you can't make this stuff up…I'd have never thought of it but once you see it… it's sooo obvious…

Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) — Christina Romer, who chairs the White House’s Council of Economic Advisers, said the U.S. needs stronger job growth to lower the nation’s unemployment rate.

We are truly doomed without such clear thinking…she will be missed.

The turning point came when Christina saw the film They and deciphered its metaphorical content.

    Progress!

A mere 8,499,999,999 to go (give or take a few, depending on who's counting … ) and we'll be back to where we started!

(Leaving out net population growth, of course — )

The ONLY good thing to ever come out of Berkeley was John C. Fogerty. And even though he is a great singer, song writer, and composer, he has some odd political views!
