State of the Union Speech Pivots to Employment Reform

With his health care agenda on the back burner in the wake of Republican Sen.-elect Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts, President Obama plans to use Wednesday night’s State of the Union address to unveil sweeping employment-reform legislation that would provide a good job to every American regardless of his ability to work, and would prevent companies from declining to employ applicants who suffer pre-existing conditions like laziness, incompetence, or kleptomania.

    Sounds like a brilliant, ideed revolutionary program! This will enable private-sector organizations to bend the employment cost-curve down, by discontinuing unneccessary procedures such as employment interviews and background checks.

    Judging from recent appointees, President Obama is already taken the lead in implementing this innovative approach for appointments to positions in the Executive Branch …

    The numbers I've heard are bleaker than that…closer to 10 people per job…and in construction the number is closer to 20 people per job

    I'm not sure that the rich getting richer (and they are, by leaps and bounds) amounts to "getting even" with them but I agree that this is on purpose…I've told you for years that we are not (nor will we ever be) the "players" in any scenario…we are the "played"…and played we are, now more than ever.

    Wait until big business is unrestricted in getting the "message" out…which they just became thanks to the Supremes. You'll soon know exactly what's good for you. It'll be drummed in like never before

    I love how liberals are so hopping mad that American businesses are covered by the First Amendment, but think it's only right that terrorists get constitutional protections, not to mention a tax-payer funded show trial to spew their hate, with the help of the tax-payer funded team of attorneys at their sides.     The SOTU address has the Blogosphere abuzz and my assessment is that the consensus overwhelmingly agrees that it was a huge, unspinnable FAIL on every level.

    Mrs. 3rd and I were minimally hopeful enough to watch/listen, start to finish. We were insulted, mostly; horrified a few times.

    Obama will divert the money into the study of climate change…NASA will now be taking on a larger role in this nonsense.     Plus a premium for services rendered during such unusually stressful circumstances (ie, earthquakes etc).
