by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 17 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

President Obama on Tuesday inadvertently blamed George W. Bush for a startling drop in U.S. crime in the first half of 2009.

According to the FBI, murder and manslaughter fell by 10 percent, all violent crimes were off 4.4 percent, rape was down 3.3 percent and property crimes declined 6.1 percent, continuing trends begun in 2008.

A commenter over at The Washington Examiner said something with which I fully concur:

Gibbs' response, of course, is the same response he always gives using random word variations.

Meanwhile, BHO empathizes with despondent criminals because he is pathologically clueless to the fact that they are bummed out because of him.

Note the dexterity with which BHO juggles the myriad "Job One"s. This is one of the many techniques he uses to mesmerize the willing.

Be of good cheer, gentlemen !

If some crimes are falling, others are flourishing in the Age of Obama … among them fraud, bribery, mulcting the public finances [mulct: vt, to deprive of through deceit], and Ponzi schemes of a size and complexity to make Bernard Madoff green with envy !

All Hail the Great and Powerful Oz !

I think you are on to something Chili. Maybe crime is not really down, just the reporting of AND enforcement of it when it is committed, as with the crimes that are rampant in the Barry administration that go unnoticed/ignored by the "LameStream"?

Perhaps crime isn't really down. The Associated Press has reported three months in a row that the economy is on its way to recovering and then had to change their story a few weeks later. Maybe they forgot to add a couple of acorn statistics or perhaps the blizzard in DC is responsible.

Sometime in the last 11 hours it occurred to me that "inadvertent" is an excellent word with which to associate BHO. Therefore, I hereby dub the years 2010-2019 "The Inadvertent Decade" [insert laugh track].

This year, Italian nativity scenes have been featuring likenesses of celebrities, such as George Clooney and Michael Jackson, among the holy family. The most disturbing is the one featuring Joe Biden as the donkey.

It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?

Doesn't anyone else wonder why Obama doesn't give our military fighting a war WE MUST WIN, the same urgency that he is giving his Socialist policies like health care and cap and trade?

Even more important, why do we Americans not hold his feet to the fire for leaving our troops out to dry?????

If it didn't seem so bizarre, you might begin to think Obama WANTS America to lose this war! Maybe it is NOT that bizarre?

This is worrisome, no doubt—White House: Failed Airline Bombing Was Attempted Act of Terrorism

But this makes me feel so much better:

President Barack Obama was notified of the incident and discussed it with security officials, the White House said. Officials said he is monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates from his vacation spot in Hawaii.
