Obama Says Jobs Summit Won’t Hike Deficit

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 41 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

As he left for a weeklong trip to Asia, President Obama announced he would hold a U.S. “jobs summit” in December, and promised that the convention of experts in government, business and academia would figure out how to get tens of millions of Americans employed and “won’t add a dime to the deficit.”

Obama said funding for the summit would come from millions of dollars worth of savings squeezed from existing government employment programs.

    Skiing…he didn't mention skiing in….
Fine or jail time?! Don't you get three squares in jail?! Is it warm there?!

What the problem? Here's my three-point plan :

    1) Re-institute the draft.
    2) Draft everybody !
    3) Set the hourly wage for the enlisted @ 5¢ per hour.
    4) Bonus! Free health program for ALL ! Including psychiatric services …

    5) Additional,/i> bonus: deficit is not merely unchanged, it shrinks!
    6) And, with sufficient impementation of Advanced Mental Health Services, U.S. military also shrinks …

  • 4 boberinyetagain // Nov 13, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Red, an awful lot of "shrink" references there…easy now…

  • 5 CallMeShelly // Nov 13, 2009 at 3:37 pm

Just like the gross advertising on the Examiner page, there is a lot of jawing going on here (there). No offense to you Scott-those tooth ads are theirs.

Anyhow, what was I saying? Oh yes, job summits, guilty terrorists coming to the Big App, so forth and so on. Democrats love to dump this stuff out on Fridays so Rush, Mark Levin and the likes can't rip it to shreds by exposing the light.

To much crap coming down the pipeline these days.

  • 6 Upnorthlurkin // Nov 13, 2009 at 3:52 pm

Funny isn't it how the revenue going into the government coffers has shrunk with the rise of the unemployment rate?! And Owe-bambam just keeps on spending…..what's going to happen when they put all the Health Insurance workers out on the street?! Can the misery index be far behind?! Welcome to Carter Redux.

  • 7 Upnorthlurkin // Nov 13, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Personally, I like the joke circulating that goes something like this…
Each geezer is given a gun and three bullets with the order to shoot one congressman and two senators. Of course, the geezer will then go to prison where he/she will get shelter, three square meals a day and free, healthcare….

  • 8 RAM1 // Nov 13, 2009 at 5:45 pm

    "Won't add a dime", "won't cost a dime"—SHEEEEESH!!!!

Can I use that on my ebay page Barry?

Here is my new sales pitch: I have a Dell Laptop for sale BRAND NEW and it won't cost you a dime! (The price is $449.95)

Odd how Obama can tell lies daily yet the top story this morning on AOL was/is how Sean Hannity LIED on one story on one show!!! (It was that someione in editing combined two different videos from two different days and said it was from the same day, meaning there was an ERROR if a lib had done it)

I'm not sticking up for Hannity, because I think he is as phony anymore as the politicians, only pointing to the EXTREME hyprocracy of the MSM, (as if we didn't already know).

  • 9 RAM1 // Nov 13, 2009 at 5:47 pm

I NEVER thought I would say this BUT, I would rather have Carter for the next 3 years!!!

Of course, I ONLY mean, in place of the TERRORIST PRESIDENT we have now!!!

  • 10 camojack // Nov 14, 2009 at 2:38 am

You saved the best for last:

"Don't worry. We've faced challenges before," Obama said. "If a man with no executive or military experience can get hired for the most important executive job in the world, commanding the world's most powerful military, then certainly we can figure out how to get ordinary folks back in the fields, the mines, the factories … or whatever it is that they do out there."

    The people are revolting, huh?

JL3 had this link on the last thread: http://www.thepeoplescube.com/red/viewtopic.php?t...

I reposted it because I want everyone to see it, and fear they won't because of this new thread.

I DARE anyone to defend Obama for this latest slap in the face of every Veteran and/or Patriotic American! How can even a Democrat Veteran defend this????? Heck, ANY Democrat that actually loves their Country?????

As I responded to JL3, if Obama feels comfortable disrespecting our pledge to our flag/Country when the lights are on, doesn't it tell you what he says/does against our Country in private?

    I just can't help myself…

In case anyone thinks that BHO shouldn't place his right hand over his heart during the National Anthem, here's the <a href="http://uscode.house.gov/uscode-cgi/fastweb.exe?getdoc+uscview+t33t36+1677+47++%2836%20USC%20Sec.%20301%29">U.S. Code on the subject.

  • 16 onlineanalyst // Nov 14, 2009 at 11:29 pm

While ObaMaosan is bowing to royalty in Japan, he feels obliged to send a video message telling Congress to back off any probes of the Hasan massacre: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/14/obama-to-co...

Apparently, our dictator wannabe does not believe in government oversight.

  • 17 RAM1 // Nov 15, 2009 at 12:08 am

The U.S. Code actually gives Obama an excuse. That being, NONE of the people in the picture are facing the flag.

I am NOT excusing him. only guessing what "spin" he or his minions would/will put on it!

  • 18 RAM1 // Nov 15, 2009 at 12:13 am

I bet it has more to do with the fact that Barry wants to remove any traces of "KNOWING" Hasan personally and why Hasan was a member of the Homeland Security transition team!

  • 19 JamesonLewis3rd // Nov 15, 2009 at 12:45 am

    FWIW:
I could be wrong, but I don't think that flag behind them is the only flag there. I suspect, as is often the case, that there is a Color Guard standing at attention in front of the podium or, maybe, a flag pole they are facing.

I just don't think those officers would turn their backs on the only available flag during the anthem.

The above link has been around for a while, and many people have "poo-pooed"it BUT, just watch a bit of it, (in Hussein's own words), in light of how he has acted since the Fort Hood incident INCLUDING today's announcement from him telling Congress to NOT do any investigation!

Why not Hussein? Afraid there may be some "loose thread" links that lead back to you or your administration???

How sickening it is to hear him say, "Holy Koran" over and over when we know how he didn't even acknowledge the Nation Day of Prayer for the TRUE Holy One-GOD/Jesus!!!

Pretty odd for a "Christian", don't you think?

More news on ObaMao's domestic policies and how to both increase employment, as well as reduce the deficit: http://azconserv1.wordpress.com/2009/11/14/presid...

Hey, everybody is a winnah with these scenarios.

  • 22 JamesonLewis3rd // Nov 15, 2009 at 1:10 am

Sharia—that's where BHO's allegiances lie. He's setting us up.

This is the WORST worse case scenario come alive. Remember how we used to talk about The Manchurian Candidate?

How are we ever going to undo this?

  • 26 boberinyetagain // Nov 16, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Wouldn't increasing employment always reduce the deficit? We'd stop paying unemployment and start collecting taxes from any individual that moved from one scenario to the other…unless the gummint payed to create the job and pay the salary (not that this couldn't happen but…I hope that isn't the plan for jobs)

  • 27 onlineanalyst // Nov 16, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Boberin: That link is a satire piece. The point of ObaMao's "jobs plan" is really growing government jobs, not those in the private sector. Unfortunately, those jobs increase taxation in order to pay the new government workers. Besides, government workers do not create products.

Government cannot grow jobs until it lessens the tax burden on businesses and corporations. They are reluctant to hire new employees until they know what their tax burden will be.

Throwing ObamaCare into the mix puts an added burden on businesses that already pay their employees' health insurance because ObamaCare in its assorted incarnations has a lot of mandated coverage that will probably escalate the cost of covering employees' health insurance. Either businesses will shunt their employees off their package to the gummint plan, or they will be forced to lay off employees in order to stay profitable. If employees are shunted to the gummint plan, they may find that they are really not covered as well or that they are wrapped in a muddle or rationing or bureaucracy.

  • 28 onlineanalyst // Nov 16, 2009 at 3:03 pm

A person can fight private insurance companies if there is a dispute. That is what state regulatory agencies can do for clients of private insurance.

With federal government health insurance, there will be no recourse.

Trust me. I have had go-rounds with Medicare over claims for my mother. Medicare is not even consistent in its denials. Thank goodness, Dad supplemented my parents' Medicare coverage years before he passed away.

While the quarterly bills for that supplemental coverage may seem high at first glance, the kind of care that the elderly require for the issues brought on my declining health and aging are well served with that supplemental coverage.

One of Pelosi's brainstorms is to delete MedicareAdvantage, a coverage that senior citizens love as a supplemental. That is not the one my parents had/have, but cutting this program takes a safety net away from seniors who had counted on its advantages.

As far as I am concerned, what the government "gives," the government can very easily take away. It simply is not a reliable business partner.

  • 29 onlineanalyst // Nov 16, 2009 at 4:19 pm

I think that Tax-Free Day is sometime in May. This supposedly is the day that we begin working for ourselves, not the government. My guess is that the date has already been pushed toward June, if it is not already there.

BREAKING!: BHO gets his diplomatic skills from old movies.

  • 31 onlineanalyst // Nov 16, 2009 at 8:32 pm

Ronnie always said, "Trust but verify."

I really am upset by the nations that ObaMao is snubbing or giving the shaft, many of which have been trusted partners and allies, while at the same cozying up to dictators and tyrants guilty of the worst of human rights vioations.

Re the Muslim nations that he is honeymooning, the Islamic faith permits taqyiah (sp?), the permissibility of lying to infidels. (That's us in the Western nations who have not submitted to the superiority of Islam.)

boberin : Nit-pickin's coming home to roost ?

  • 34 RAM1 // Nov 16, 2009 at 10:16 pm

I read the story at your link boberin, ALL of it, even though this first paragraph told me what the rest contained:

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 49 million Americans — one in seven — struggle to get enough to eat, the highest total in 14 years of a federal survey on "food insecurity," the U.S. government said on Monday."

"Federal survey" and "U.S. Government" being the key clues!

Maybe they polled some of the food stamp recipients that shop at my sister's grocery and yell and cuss and make a fool of themselvces when they DEMAND hot, (cooked) chickens from the Deli and are told, (which they ALREADY know), that prepared food is NOT an item they can use food stamps on!

I bet at least SOME of this sham story has food stamp leeches that couldn't get THE FOOD THAT THEY DESIRE, included in it!

Give me a link to just ONE (1) story of ANYONE dying of starvation in America?

I am talking about NOW, and NOT when Obama's policies come to fruitition (sp) and we ALL are in the bread lines!!!

  • 35 onlineanalyst // Nov 16, 2009 at 11:25 pm

boberin: I, too, am suspicious of those statistics because I have read that in determining those counts of starvation/hunger, if a child/adult has missed one meal, it counts as a statistic in the negative.

There is no question that the number of people qualifying for food stamps and unemployment insurance is rising. Freeing up our economy from strangling business/corporate taxation and punitive regulation would put people back on the payrolls so that they could provide for their own needs.

Most of us posting here are generous contributors to charities. We contribute to food banks (and not just with items that we don't like or that are past use-by date), and many work in food banks/soup kitchens on a regular basis as volunteers. We know where our local communities' and churches' money goes because the effort is local, and the needs are readily identified.

The motivation for BHO's F-22 Decision?
Yes, yes, it's that pesky Obsequious Narcissism again. He basks in being hailed as the groveling, subservient Court Jester of Earth. He'll do anything for attention even when it is blatant mockery because he mistakes it for adulation. He's like the Michael Jackson of world politics.

    I don't appreciate it.
