Nobel Panel Hopes Peace Prize Boosts Obama Self-Esteem

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 31 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2009-10-09) — An unnamed member of the Nobel committee this morning explained the shocking decision to give the Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, who had served only 11 days as president when nominated, by noting that the gold medal would go a long way toward boosting Mr. Obama’s self-esteem.

“We used to give the award to persons who had actual accomplishments,” the anonymous source said. “But that’s so reactionary, and almost nostalgic. By giving the peace prize to Obama, we’re recognizing his potential, and applauding his intentions in a way that we hope will result in future actions.”

The committee members reportedly wanted to encourage Mr. Obama with something tangible because “his speeches make world peace seem almost possible.”

“It’s like putting a gold star on a student’s paper, or giving him the ‘most improved’ trophy when he makes a good effort,” the source said. “We don’t want the president to get discouraged, or to give up just because the overwhelming evidence of history and of human nature flies in the face of everything he has proposed.”

Another good one Scott. The Nobel Peace Prize committee has become nothing more than a liberal-socialist pep club. The Peace Prize is no longer going to REAL HEROES or people with REAL COURAGE, but to those who are the most visible spouters of the liberal-socialist agenda.

    (:X) Blecccchhhhh!

Let me see if I’ve got this right.

Some Conservatives are shocked that Barack Hussein Obama has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, after only 11 days in office and despite his non-existent achievements when nominated.

How is he not deserving of the same prize that was given to Mikhail Gorbachev (1990), Yasser Arafat (1994), Jimmy Carter (2002), Mohamed ElBaradei (2005) and Al Gore (2007)?

Not to mention, given for the same reason ( the Norwegian Nobel Committee was impressed by the nominee’s “Good Intentions” ).

    Makes perfect sense.

Actual accomplishments would have only confused ‘em.

You're right of course, Chile. From AT, "The prize is endowed by the estate of Alfred Nobel, the Swedish chemist who invented dynamite; related portable explosives arm every terrorist in the world today. Consider also the venue: Scandinavia. This is that portion of what is now the European Union that; either capitulated or declared they were "neutral" in the face of the National Socialist menace in the last century. Indeed, for the most part, Norway and other countries of northern Europe sat out WWII and let others die for the freedom and prosperity that Scandinavia enjoys today."
    They literally invented voting present.

The secretly held [but overwhelming] consensus of the Fringe Media, the Democrat party and various other Leftists is that it's Bush's Fault that BHO won the NPP.

I woke up early to this dismaying news, drank three cups of coffee to be sure that I was not dreaming, and then returned to bed, hoping that the Obamao nightmare would soon be over.

The best summation of the absurdity of Obamao's Nobel win links the Krauthammer piece that I had linked in another thread and goes on to identify why Obamao is a force for ill both in America and on the world stage.

What, no peace prize for Dumbyah?

Obama could never have done it without Dumbyah’s previous eight years of warmongering.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Who’s the father of those children who now call themselves “Conservatives”.

"I had a DREAM— last night that UHbama had also won the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes!

Michelle must have entered the contest on those Oprah magazine subscriptions that she receives for free. Maybe she should have spread them out on the floor of Air Force One so Bo's accident would have been easier to clean up?

If the "accident" WAS indeed that of Bo and not that of someone on board that had a "tingle down their leg" being in the presence of "Barry"?

  • 19 RAM1 // Oct 10, 2009 at 3:58 pm

As much as he is on TV maybe they can also put him in for an Emmy Award, although they will have to wait until next year as they were awarded last month. Having said that, with Obama ANYTHING is possible. They may make an additional award, just for him.

Then, some kind of award for being a "school teacher" with his video's he sends to them and whatever award they give for songwriters for the Mmmm, mmm,MMMM, song that either he or one of his minions wrote?

Think it sounds silly? So does everything this evil man does and gets away with, not to mention now a Nobel Prize winner.

  • 25 proudGSDmom // Oct 11, 2009 at 11:27 am

Scott, this is fantastic! Obama needs a boost to his self esteem as much as Bill Gates needs a raise!

He has now "promised" to end Don't Ask/Don't Tell. You have to feel sorry for those who support that, as it will now never happen. No lobbyists, no earmarks, close Gitmo, go through the budget line by line and eliminate waste, get out of Iraq, fight to win in Afghanistan, keep unemployment from topping 8%,……

Can anyone name a single promise this man has made and kept?

  • 26 proudGSDmom // Oct 11, 2009 at 11:31 am

I guess topping all the best-selling charts before a book even goes to press makes Sarah Palin a cinch for the Nobel Award for literature? Unlike Obama, who has literally accomplished nothing, her accomplishment is reaping huge rewards before it even comes to fruition.

Off topic, the game in Denver last night had to be cancelled due to global warming. :-(
