Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee: Town Hall Phone Call Not Rude

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 78 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2009-08-14) — Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-TX, who appears in a viral video making a cellphone call at a town hall meeting while a cancer survivor was trying to ask her a question, today explained that she was not being rude to the voters in the room.

“I didn’t know the answer to the question,” said the lawmaker, “So I decided to use one of my lifelines to ask an expert who had actually read the health care reform bill. As everyone knows, I’m entitled to two lifelines and I only had to use one.”

Asked about reports that the House member had used ‘her lifeline’ to phone a K Street lobbying firm, Rep. Jackson-Lee said, “If you want to hear from someone who read the bill, why not talk to one of the people who wrote it.”

My first thought was, NO ONE, even a Godless lib like Jack$on-Lee would be this rude, so she MUST be calling "dial-a-prayer" for this poor lady who is a cancer surviver.

Then I remembered, Jack$on-Lee is a "GODless lib", who doesn't believe in God, so that blew that theory, unless she was calling her "messiah" Obama?

It MUST be that she IS simply 'that rude'!

Maybe White House spokedork Robt Gibbs should attend her next Town Hall to tell her to "shut off her phone" as he does the White House press corps? :-)

That reminds of a story from our founding father days, one representive answered a note attached to a pidgeon right in the middle of Mr. Franklin's speech about organizing the United States, Mr. Franklin did not show any emotions at the time, but later in a note for the pony express, he mentioned that maybe we better regulate animal communications before it gets out of control.

  • 3 RAM1 // Aug 14, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Since Pelosi and the left wing-nuts have already falsely accused the right of using "swatikas" at the Town Halls, we might as well do what we have ALREADY been accused of!

BTW, it ISN'T paranoid to think Obama is coming after his enemies IF, he REALLY is, (and he IS)!!!

The Nazi label fits Obama MUCH BETTER than it EVER did Bush when the left wing-nuts called him that first!

    Enjoy the video.

Her cell phone?!? Wassamatta, did the Dems run out of TelePrompTers?

  • 5 gafisher // Aug 14, 2009 at 8:08 pm

Just to take a representative example, SS, your colleague David Duke is a registered Democrat. In fact, in 1988 he won in the New Hampshire Primary — as a Democrat, so not only does he vote D, but his supporters apparently do so as well.

I can hardly believe Obama made her use a cellie instead of the standard-issue TelePrompTer®.

(Sorry if this shows up as a repeat — IntenseDebate seems to have swallowed my previous one.)

"Scare tactics, and lie heaped upon lie, has not won them a victory, on the contrary, they have extended themselves too far."

Too true, but there's still hope the Democrat Party could someday recover.

"The practice of "turning the other cheek" does NOT work with today's lib and/or America's enemies!"

I can't imagine you turning your other cheek to anyone; on the contrary, you are always the aggressor.

My guess is that the lunatic fringe believes that their week of rampage has given them an upper hand in the discussion of Health Care. When in actuality, they are more like General Custer. They really have no idea what awaits them.

Scare tactics, and lie heaped upon lie, has not won them a victory, on the contrary, they have extended themselves too far. Their “victories" in the Town Halls have not only revealed their ignorance and dishonesty, but also their willingness to intimidate and coerce other citizens.

You see, their "victories" were not victories at all; their opponents remain strong and intent on undoing their arguments. They have exposed their SA nature for all to see. Their stupid lies will be easily exposed, making it hard for them to sell their next batch.

Their threats of violence will be smothered, and those VIOLENT extremists will be dealt with.

Each year 22,000 people die because they do not have health care insurance in this, the greatest nation on earth. This because the greedy, the selfish, the immoral, the stupid, and the evil have had their way in the past.

This time, we will have health care reform, with a public option. This time they will fail!

I do believe that SS (Axelrod Astroturfer extroidinaire) has confused the bused in SEIU and ACORN contingent as typical town hall attendees. His description of their behaviors certainly fits the modus operandi of the thugs, enforcers, and goons that rally to the Democrats' battle cry.

  • 20 Darthmeister // Aug 14, 2009 at 11:38 pm

BTW, neverthink, in the link you gave Duke first ran DEMOCRAT in the 10th District. He also ran as a Populist candidate. In that same link you posted, it's pretty clear the Republican Party never endorsed Duke and in fact endorsed a different Republican. When Duke unilaterally ran for the "Republican" Presidency in 1992, "the Republican Party completely repudiated his campaign. Once again you prove to be a cherrypicking liar, neverthink. Here's a link which definitively documents the racist history of the Democratic Party. Which partly explains why David Duke, born and raised a Democrat, got his start in the Democratic Party and was never accepted by the Republican Party. Nice try, pal.

  • 21 Darthmeister // Aug 14, 2009 at 11:43 pm

David Duke was also a 911 Troofer, is an Israel/Jew hater, a Bush-hater, and he opposed the war in Iraq and the general war on terror based on the same lies you've spewed here, neverthink.

BTW, the racial segregationist movement thrived in the Democrat Party in post-bellum America to the mid-1950s and the movement continues to work under the radar among Southern Democrats today. With David Duke it was all about Duke himself and popularizing his peculiar race-based anarchism. The Republican Party just as enthusiastically repudiated this nutbag as did liberal Democrats, though Duke continues to appeal to marginalized racists in both the Democrat and Republican parties. At least the Republicans, with all their many faults, never elected a Grand Kleagel to Senate as did the Democratic Party with the closet racist Robert Byrd.

  • 22 Darthmeister // Aug 14, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Obama denounces emphasis on health care protests
Yep, that's how closet fascists work and the national socialist media dutifully will fall in line. Leftists/liberals/socialists - who are actually a decided minority that has managed to temporarily hoodwink "independent" rubes - always portray mainstream citizens' backlash and protest as being a threat to their emerging velvet gulag. That's what happened in Nazi Germany, BTW!

What's it like to cheerlead the Fourth Reich, trolls? Given your snarling support of ObaMarx today, it's pretty clear where you would have stood when messiah Hitler came along with his promise of building a national socialist utopia on the faltering German Republica. If you can see through all the propaganda you've learned from left-wing whackademia the last forty to fifty years you'd realize that your entire worldview has been shaped by a liberal Democrat media and left-leaning educational system. If you keep swilling the Obama kool-aid you'll only get the Amerika sheeple like you deserve, but unfortunately the rest of us will have to suffer for your blind ignorance and stupidity.

  • 23 onlineanalyst // Aug 15, 2009 at 12:21 am

No, I do not believe that "as many as 22,000 Americans die each year because they don't have health insurance." Doctors adhere to the Hippocratic oath. Medicare, Medicaid, and SCHIP programs address the needs of the poor and working poor. However, if those who rely on the nanny state to get those who are uninsured to sign up, then I guess that we have created a dependent, helpless class on the plantation. No emergency room can deny treatment by law. COBRA takes care of the needs of those who are laid off or between jobs that provide health care as part of the employment package.

Let's hear a little about tort reform as part of health insurance reform. Of course, our lawyer-dominated legislature beholden to the trial lawyers' associations won't touch that cash cow of political contributions. Guess which party rakes in the most in that arena?

I rather trust the researcj amd statistics of The Heritage Foundation or Cato before I would opt for the site that you link, SS officer

Michelle Malkin has provided a handy guide to attendees to town halls since our representation in Congress refuses to address letters, emails, or telephone calls.

Black Democrat poses as a "white supremacist" on Facebook. Makes you wonder how many faux "white supremacist" have to be ginned up by Democrats to unfairly paint conservatives and your generic Republican as a bunch of racists? I bet this was one of those "supremacists" that the liberal media used to propel their story of how "black hating 'conservatives'" were going to start a race war.

Black Man Pleads Guilty to Posing as Obama-Hating White Supremacist on Facebook:
An African-American man from Mississippi admits posing as a white supremacist to send a death threat across state lines by Facebook. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 20-year-old Dyron L. Hart of Poplarville pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to making a threat in November 2008. Hart admitted creating a name and using a white supremacists’ photo to pose as a white man who planned to kill blacks because Barack Obama had been elected president.”

Robert Reich (D-Moon) unwittingly admits to Obama and Democrat incompetence!
Why are these meetings brimming with so much anger? Because Republican Astroturfers [a lie] have joined the same old right-wing broadcast demagogues [a lie] that have been spewing hate and fear for years [a lie], to create a tempest [truth].

But why are they getting away with it? Why aren’t progressives … taking the meetings back?

Mainly because there’s still no healthcare plan. … The White House’s is waiting to see what emerges from the House and Senate before insisting on what it wants, maybe in conference committee.

But that’s the problem: It’s always easier to stir up fear and anger against something that’s amorphous than to stir up enthusiasm for it.

    So it’s like this:

Obama: I’m going to turn healthcare upside down. Not sure how.

    People: I don’t think I’ll like this.

Obama, Demoncrats and socialist media: Haters!

    Hat tip to Instapundit.

Uh, no… and the young, who know that they will be saddled with a bill for the care of others who wait for taxpayers to foot their expenses, have said "No!" with their choices not to purchase health insurance.

Present!-dent OBumbler certainly relies on hyperbole to foist his federal intrusion in American lives, taking away their liberties, their choices, and their self-determination. Elderly Swedes are obviously healthy. A better but tougher question which could be asked is "Has anyone checked how many people in Sweden survive to an age at which John Holdren et al consider them human?" Sadly, phony "infant mortality" numbers don't tell the story, as we've seen in Cuba and other countries where the figures don't include the weak, sickly or disabled children who are systematically euthanized. Because of that, it's very difficult to determine whether such encouraging "life expectancy" figures as those you quoted simply reflect Sweden's willingness to permit some people live longer while culling out what Justice Ginsburg called "populations that we don't want to have too many of."

"Then go live in Sweden, neverthink".

Darthmeister. Somehow that just doesn't sound American to me; is it German?

Let me explain to you once again, Herr Dimwit; my roots in this land go back to August of 1635. My American birthright begins on July 4th, 1776.

The United States is not, and will never be defined by a bunch of Bundists.

My family fought first for America in the French and Indian War, they then renounced their British Citizenship and risked their all to establish this nation. They have fought your people many times in our history. We have always won, and God willing we will put an end to the influence of your kind in this country once again.

Never mind your he-man gun-nut group, if you want me to leave my country, you going to have to go Lee Harvey.

    Everthink?

Seems to me there's always been a lot of jealousy of physicians by attorneys….not sure why but, it's more and more evident to me….whatsamattah? Couldn't get into Med school so you settled for Law school?! Come on….let's get started with the lawyer jokes….

  • 59 SaneScrappler // Aug 15, 2009 at 5:33 pm

John Adams, the right winger, was a lawyer! Let's do right-wing jokes instead, I've got a million of those.

Did anyone else see Sen. Claire McCaskill at her Town Hall saying, "I don't get it, I really don't get it!", in responce to the outrage from "We the People"!

Well, I have a message for "Clair" and her ilk of left wing-nuts——

The FACT that, "you don't get it"—— IS the problem moron!!!! You and 99% of Washington and/or local politicians are out of touch with "We the People", YOUR BOSSES, you elitist scum bags!

AND, either kill this Obama healthSCAM bill, or the Dems reigh will be short, (ending next November), and they will be out of power for at least a few election cycles!(until the Repubs get all high and mighty again, as will undoubtably happen!)

At least "Claire" admits, (albeit subconciously), that she "doesn't get it", which is more that some of the trolls will admit.

Hard to admit you are ever wrong if you are Obama or one of his robot worshippers! ;-)

"She is about as smart as the trolls here that either CANNOT understand the use of Scott's "reply" button, or are just that disrespectful of him and the rules that EVERYONE else is expected to follow?"

You are too modest, you are actually QUITE IGNORANT! The most IGNORANT of any here.

Why else would you think yourself above the rules to use the reply button?

GOD ALMIGHTY must be looking at you and shaking HIS mighty head! Tsk, tsk.

  • 64 gafisher // Aug 15, 2009 at 5:37 pm

Baragirl, the Swedish question is a tough one. Sweden was an early and enthusiastic adopter of the principles of Eugenics, which is heavily based on culling the weak or simply preventing them from ever being conceived.

"From about 1934 to until 1975, Sweden sterilized more than 62,000 people, with Herman Lundborg in the lead of the project. Sweden sterilized more people than any other European state except Nazi Germany." [*]

Nobody seriously questions whether Eugenics works — we've used the principle for millennia in breeding dogs and horses. The difference of opinion between the Obama left (and leaders in the countries cited in the above quote), and those who cherish liberty, is not whether it works or whether it's cost-effective, but whether it's moral to practice it on humans.

baragirl: You are a genius! Of course, since Jack$on-Lee cannot afford a teleprompter she is relying on her cellphone!

I had not thought about the obvious conclusion that her not being smart enough to answer questions from average citizens, would be getting the answers "spoon fed" to her from someone on the other end of the phone!

  • 69 RAM1 // Aug 15, 2009 at 11:01 pm

Follow this link from 2 and a half months ago for comments, (comment plus 2 replies), about Mr Henning( the INsane scrappler). It tells you ALL you will ever need, (or want) to know about the typical far left wing liberal mindset.

While I would hope this poster is right about him possibly looking more toward GOD, IMHO he needs to try harder.

I am sure this will not upset Henning, as he always tells the rest of us what we need to do to get closer to God. ;-)

Jack$on-Lee has now admitted she just didn't want to hear any dissent from those nasty right wing lunatics for the reason she was on her phone, she promises it won't happen again! From now on she will insert her fingers in her ears and scream, "la-la-la-la", while stamping her feet! lol

She is about as smart as the trolls here that either CANNOT understand the use of Scott's "reply" button, or are just that disrespectful of him and the rules that EVERYONE else is expected to follow?

Maybe it is just that Dimocrat/LIB attitude that the rules do NOT apply to them?

Yeah, that is probably the case. ;-)

I wholeheartedly agree. Personally, I completed both the 2nd and 3rd grades in the same year, starting when I was 6 years old…but that's just me. Of course, that was in a mere public school…
