Obama: Mandate Health Coverage Just Like Car Insurance

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 69 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2009-07-22) — The federal government should require everyone to purchase health insurance, President Barack Obama said today, just as car insurance is mandated.

Like auto collision plans, the president said his health plan would allow reductions in coverage amounts with age as “the condition of the body just doesn’t matter as much anymore.”

“If you’re driving an ‘82 Plymouth Reliant K, you’re not going to carry as much collision coverage on that clunker as you would on a 2009 Lexus GS,” the president said. “Likewise, my own health insurance should be the top of the line GS plan because I’m in the prime of life, but my mother-in-law, who has already lived her best years, could get the K-plan…you know, less coverage on body work.”

Mr. Obama said a mandated universal medical coverage plan could reap huge cost savings “if only Americans would cast away the antiquated notion that all human life is equally valuable.”

“Most health care expenses come during the final years of life, when it’s too late anyway,” he said. “If we looked at people as we look at cars, we’d all understand that you just don’t care as much about dings and dents and leaky oil pans on the older models.”

He has a point, this old chassis ain’t what it used to be!

  • 2 R.A.M. // Jul 22, 2009 at 10:48 am

So Mr. Obama, if the government cannot make illegal immigrants purchase car insurance, how are you going to make them purchase health insurance?

BUT, if you can make them, won’t that be considered “racist”, or is that just if a Conservative would be the one to make them purchase it?

What happens if my body gets totalled by someone piloting a “K” car? Who gets the check?

  • 4 onlineanalyst // Jul 22, 2009 at 11:21 am

R.A.M.: Believe it or not, illegals are covered under this ShamWow Obamacare Scam, and they don’t have to pay a red cent. The taxpayers pick up their freight. These people count as part of the bloated number of uninsured that Obamao keeps touting, along with people who choose not to be covered or are between jobs.

Gramps and Grammy, with their battered chassis, will be offered pain pills and end-of-life planning sessions with government bureaucrats.
All care for older models and the newest off the line will be rationed according to some flunkies’ list of federal criteria.

Let’s hear it for tort reform and the ability to purchase insurance from competing vendors instead. Let’s heal Medicare and Medicaid and the VA systems before we incur futher debt.

Massachusetts is already deeply in the red over its healthcare insurance, purportedly the one that the feds are promoting. Legal immigrants have been cut from the system in order to balance the state’s books while illegals are still covered.

‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ hit a ratings low point earlier this month, averaging a measly 3.2 household rating for the week ending July 5. That marks the show’s worst performance since its 1983 debut, although it admittedly aired repeats amidst coverage of Wimbledon and Michael Jackson’s death. Low ratings: Definitely not one of Oprah’s favorite things. [NY Daily News]”

Oh no! First Obama’s rating start falling and now Oprah.

Must be all those racists that don’t like black people like Barbara Boxer! ;-)

And here we have more evidence that Obamao does not believe in the separation of powers. The OMB is a budgetary watchdog, non-partisan and answerable to Congress, not the president. Elmendorf testified to Congress that Obamacare would not be a savings but would increase the deficit.

For Obamao, the whole gotta-do-it-NOW!-health care Sham Wow is as phony as the Cap and Tax bill. Obamao says that “the time for talk is over” just as algore claims that the debate on climate change is settled. (Obamao praises the post-Iranian election bloodshed of protestors as “vigorous debate,” yet he will not allow honest alternatives to be discussed in Congress.)

Other proposals for the health-care insurance issue have been crafted, but these offering have been shut out of the debate.

Here is how obvious that the health-care bill is nothing but a partisan political move: The taxes for the program begin in 2011 (after the 2010 elections), and the actual program does not begin until 2013 (after the general election). That is, Obamao takes credit for passing ShamWow now, and people pay taxes for two years on the boondoggle with no Obamacare. Who will take credit or blame for this bankrupting program? Figure it out.

I wonder what the purchase price buy-back allowance is under Obamarx’s “Healthcare” Plan? Whaaaaat … there isn’t one?

Rahm Emanuel: “We rescued the economy from the worst recession.” Lying moron, we’re still in a recession that you loons deepened at the expense of the American people!

And these charlatans previously stated that we’re to look forward to a “jobless recovery”! What unmitigated gall, particularly when they were mocking President Bush back in 2002 about an alleged “jobless recovery” from the Clinton recession. They must think most Americans are stupid … well, the liberal side of the aisle certainly is.

I wonder if there is an “act of God” exclusionary clause in Obamacare?

And will the EPA step in and mandate cemetery clean-ups because of rotting corpses polluting the ground water, not to mention all those old lead-lined caskets?

  • 14 boberinyetagain // Jul 22, 2009 at 2:26 pm

Local example of “health care” and the current “insurance” structure…it’s not “insurance” people…it’s pre-paid “health care”…and the cost of everything is nuch higher than it needs to be to cover those costs…

In an unusual arrangement shared by no other major city, Philadelphia negotiates a flat amount of money per employee to give to the unions’ health and welfare trust funds based upon cost projections.

Currently, that amounts to the city providing nearly $11,700 a year to provide coverage for each DC 33 and DC 47 worker; about $14,000 for each police officer; and about $15,200 for each firefighter.

  • 15 Darthmeister // Jul 22, 2009 at 2:30 pm

Universal Healthcare … Yes, Obamacare … NO!

This might clear up confusion between private universal healthcare and socialized/nationalized healthcare since liberals are so good at using euphemisms and confusing terminology to advance their bankrupt political agenda.

  • 16 wildhowd // Jul 22, 2009 at 3:18 pm

Why not just require all “citizens” and legal aliens except for Democratic members of the House and Senate to self abort themselves at the age of 50. Why wait for government health care to deny you the right to live. This would free up so many resources and drop the unemployment rate at the same time. We could use the bodies for food and fuel. Just think of the possibilities. Well I’m off to the liquidation booth. Have a nice day.

  • 17 upnorthlurkin // Jul 22, 2009 at 3:43 pm

Of course, you’re right, Darth. Any reform has to include medical tort reform. We have friends who are physicians. Their malpractice insurance costs have risen astronomically and both admit (after extreme coaxing) that nowadays they all practice CYA medicine. That means they schedule any and all tests imaginable (warranted or not) for protection against litigation. One doc is our age( rapidly approaching 60…) and he has only had his school loans paid off for 2 years….he makes good money (as an eye surgeon) but the cost of his malpractice insurance premiums (coupled with that fact that he dared get married and have two kids…) prevented an earlier payoff. He’s in private practice and one considered rich by the Obey-me administration…. his take-home was less than ours.

While I’m not one to agree with 0bama on most things, he’s more or less right when he says, “Most health care expenses come during the final years of life…” Right now we spend too much money to keep someone suffering from a terminal condition alive for another 6 months (or whatever). It’s not sustainable and it’s a poor allocation of limited health care resources. If someone has the financial means and chooses to spend their own money to extend their life (or someone else’s), then I don’t think the government has the right to stop them or say, “you can’t do that,” like they do in Canada. But I don’t think the rest of us should be on the hook for someone else’s medical expenses when it may very well mean the difference between sending your kid to college or not.

  • 20 RedRum151 // Jul 22, 2009 at 4:44 pm

Statistically, the overwhelming majority of health-care dollars are spent providing care for individuals in their last six months of life.

No problem! We’ll just stop paying for any treatment except pain management for those last six months! Think of the savings!

All we gotta do is pinpoint the dates those last six months begin & we got it fixed!!!

“If we looked at people as we look at cars, we’d all understand that you just don’t care as much about dings and dents and leaky oil pans on the older models.”

What a way with words you have, Scott.

I wouldn’t want some government hack in charge of maintaining my car any more than I want some government hack to decide for me what my healthcare treatment options are. And, as for the notion that older or sicker people are “expendable” in favor of cost-containment, I’d like to hear someone give me a good explanation as to why that older/sicker person’s life is any less precious than some young, gang-banging deadbeat illegal alien, who would get treatment simply because of his/her age. All life is precious, but if I had a choice as to who’d get my heart after I passed away, I wouldn’t want it to go to some unproductive moocher over a person whose life had meaning and vitality.

da Bunny #23 - Good points. I’ll give you an enthusiastic AMEN on that. I believe that God is no respecter of persons and all souls are equally precious to Him.

Perhaps He views us who have the years and dings and dents, etc. the way some of us view the Classic cars, like a ‘57 Chevy Convertible. With the dings and dents out and a good refurbishment it will sell for more than many of today’s new cars. I recently saw a ‘55 T-Bird body only (no engine, drive train, wheels or seats - and the dash had been stripped. Price? $3,500.00 - three days later, it was gone.

A new Christian, regardless of calendar age is only a baby in Christ. But scripturally, we Christians all get a new resurrected body in heaven so I don’t allow my disability to bother me at all.

Am reading Ann Coulter’s “Godless” (again) - poor gal is disadvantaged She probably has a good medical/dental plan but her problems are outside of the field of medicine.

Ann Coulter has several disadvantages she cannot overcome.
    1). She believes in America
2). She is a strict Constitutionalist
3). She believes the Bible is God’s Word
4). She choses to exercise her freedom of speech
5). She is a true Conservative
6). She voted for Ronald Reagan
7). She voted against the usurper
8). She is more intelligent than 52% of American voters
(49% if you delete the fraudulent votes)
9). She “ticks off” liberals who cannot debate with her
10). She knows that the usurper will be a one termer (like the peanut farmer)

With all of these disadvantages, she is pretty sure she will never be appointed as Tzar of anything in the usurper’s administration and since all of the usurper’s Tzars are 100% Unconstitutional - she really doesn’t want to be a Tzar anyway.

    Hi daBunny!

That R.I.N.O. disease is speading outside California. Indiana’s senior Senator Dick Lugar has voted with the Dems now on the “so called” hate crimes bill, has said he will vote yes on Sotomayor, and seems to be well on his way to following in Spector’s footsteps.

Why? I think it is because when he started his
“lean” towards the left a few years back, his BASE that elected him all these years, voiced their opposition to his “leanings” and then the left wing nuts started “stroking him” with praise and he decided he liked it, so “leaned” even farther!

His problem will come during the next election when his BASE will vote for someone else and the left wing “strokers” will NATURALLY vote THEIR party line against the R.I.N.O. Lugar!

I forced myself to watch the entire speech last night, to be fair to Obama. Truthfully, I could not understand much of what he said other than the typical jabs at Bush, (“We inherited this economic problem—blah, blah” I thought this newsconference was about HEATHCARE Obama?), and his over and over saying, “This isn’t about me, -I have healthcare!”, as if that is the only reason he would want government run healthcare!

America, (HOPEFULLY), is smarter than that. They are MANY reasons other than that including another powergrab by Obama and controlling yet another part of our lives!

I hope everyone also noticed who the people he called on worked for. ALL main stream media with the NBC guy practically kissing him. Then the last question/statement, (TOTALLY off the subject about a black man arrested because he had broken into his own house), thrown in to play the “race card” and guilt by association to possibly relating in some strange way, that if we do NOT give Obama his healthcare boondoggle, it is because he is black!

BTW, a couple of years ago, a similar thing happened with a white man in Indianapolis, and when the cop responded, the guy grabbed a gun and the cop shot him dead. Thank God he wasn’t black or there would have been riots here led by Je$$e and $harpton!

A tragic mistake, yet ONLY a mistake. Cops respond to WHITE people alledgedly breaking into houses ALSO, Mr. President!!!

  • 34 Darthmeister // Jul 23, 2009 at 9:54 am

Actually I am sympathetic to the argument that all too often “heroic” medical efforts are used to extend a very elderly person’s life a few more days or weeks.

Things do get sticky when we’re talking the “last six months” or the “last year(s)” of someone’s life since there have been numerous examples of when an elderly patient is told they only have months to live with or without the procedure and when they do get the operation or therapy they end up living another five years of, by most people’s definition, quality life.

This dynamic is even more reason why government should stay out of healthcare decisions, but then even on private plans I hate to have my premiums being jacked up (my own premiums are going up at the end of August!) because some Americans don’t want to face their inevitable death with some sort of dignity, preferring instead to add maybe ten minutes to their lives with a $200,000 procedure so they won’t have to face their Maker any sooner than they have to.

But again, under Obamacare, rationed healthcare and mandated death will most certainly become a reality for most Americans when socialist Donks realize there isn’t enough money on the planet Earth to give each America their perceived constitutional right to live a life of 100 years pain-free and disease-free! Limited resources under a statist hegemony always results in some sort of bureaucratic rationing and its only an outrage when it happens to you or someone you love, right?

    Soylent Green indeed, camojack!

R.A.M., whenever I hear the Chosen One blathering about “inheriting these economic problems”, I immediately agree with him in that he did inherit these problems which began with the 2007 Democrat takeover of Congress.

Unfortunately, the national socialist media has been very successful in their brainwashing of the American people into believing that President Bush “did nothing” (other than his administration warning Congress no less than 17 times in 2008 alone about the impending financial meltdown starting with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) or that Bush somehow held Congress captive the last eight years and forced them into sabotaging the economy under both Republican and Democratic leadership! Two years from now Demoncritters will still be blaming Bush for their plugged environmentally safe toilets, their cars getting less mpg as they age, the leaves falling off trees a few days earlier in the fall, to the continued malaise of the American economy.

The next terrorist attack on America will also be blamed on Bush because he allegedly “incited” the peaceful Muslim world against us and the charms of Obamessiah simply wasn’t enough to overcome the prior militaristic evil of Bu$Hitler blah, blah, blah. Not that the Obama administration hasn’t done a fine job of its own killing innocent civilians in Afghanistan and Pakistan, of course.

"… unfortunately, the national socialist media has been very successful in their brainwashing of the American people into believing that President Bush “did nothing"…"

“I only fault President Clinton for doing nothing after the August 1996 BJ.”

“… listening to Shillary and Lewdsinski.”

The American people knew President Clinton would be listening to Hillary when they elected him, moreover huge numbers over the American people believed her qualified to be President. Now many more believe she is well qualified to be president, why would he not listen to such a person?

As far as “Lewdsinski” is concerned, that was a private and personal matter, but I don’t believe the nature of President Clinton’s relationship involved his having to listen to her; in fact, I doubt she did much talking.

I believe Kenneth Starr and Monica Lewinski may have had a good deal in common!

It is apparent that Obamao is not above lying re the Cleveland and Mayo Clinics, strawment arguments of hypotheticals and false either-or situations, personal attacks against those who have an opposing opinion, stirring class warfare by painting physicians and insurers as greedy, and cheesy references to anecdotes.

The larger question for Obamao is whether he took the red pill or the blue pill after that sorry excuse of a press conference.

And ABCNEWS will defend Obama … again.

Well, it looks like libs are racebaiting again. After depending solely on sanitized national socialist media reports and rumors (the Boston Globe went so far to sanitize its original news release to make Mr. Gates far less belligerent and the police officer the aggressor - figures) concerning Mr. Gates confrontation with a Cambridge police officer, it’s pretty clear Mr. Gates was in effect verbally harassing a police officer who was only doing his job. But if you listen to Mr. Obamarx ignorant comments (he admitted he “didn’t have all the details” … indeed), the police officer was acting “stupidly” in performing his job under circumstances made difficult by Gates’ verbal race bombs.

Actual police report here. But then some Obamaton might defend Mr. Obamarx’s reckless and rash condemnation of the Cambridge police by totally discounting the official police report as some kind of lying CYA damage control document. Yeeeeah … right!

It’s this kind of liberal PC crap which makes more than a few good police officers want to turn their badge in. You try to do your job and you get labeled a racist … guilty until proven innocent by the preponderance of evidence that the liberal media might get around to dribbling out over the next few days or weeks. By then Obama is off the hook for inflaming a nation against a police officer with his own stupid rhetoric and Mr. Gates will be back to being an “objective scholar”. I think next time someone tries breaking into Mr. Gates’ house the neighbor should simply do nothing. It w0uld save a lot of trouble for everyone else.

    Everthink?

  • 48 R.A.M. // Jul 23, 2009 at 7:20 pm

L@Y: Watch a re-run of an MSNBC program?

You must be kidding. Only about 100 people, (including you), watch an original run of any of their programs.

If people are not going to watch the original, they sure are NOT going to watch a re-run.

BTW, did Matthews look as if he still was feeling that “tingle”? I’m sure that doesn’t affect his objectivity does it?

Gee, I put up a comment in the wee hours of this morning, and got that “comment is awaiting moderation” flash. It was a reasonably sane and coherent, if somewhat off-topic, comment.

Nevertheless, what I said disappeared into the ether. It wasn’t as nasty as a lot that appears here, and had a certain cryptic relevance to the last days of America as a force in the world.

All I can add to the fray at this point is a reiteration of what I told y’all year before last:

Congress will be up for grabs next year. Forget The Manchurian Candidate for a while, and win back the other legislative branch of the government.

Nobody listened then, and nobody even says “Howdy!” any longer.

I hope I didn’t become one of those “bad behavior” statistics cited at the bottom of this page. I’m going to crawl back into my hollow log and watch things disintegrate, or as Ray Bradbury said in Stranger in a Strange Land, discorporate.

Fred, I tried to tell you I’m re-reading Coulter’s How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must), but the comment got eaten. Y’all have fun with the resident troll; trying to reason with it is like teaching a pig to sing; it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Pt #50 - I still say “howdy?” But I lived long enough in Texas & Florida (30 years) so I’m qualified to use it.

Most folks up North here don’t know that “Howdy?” is a question. They mostly think of it as a southern variation of “Hi!” or “Hello.”
unaware that is an abbreviated question - “How do you do?”; inquiring as to one’s health or circumstances.

I’ve been praying about Obama’s Health Reform Scheme and his “Cap and Trade” hoax
(shades of that master hoaxer - algore)

Now understand, I’m not a prophet or the son of a prophet - I’m not even the seventh son of the seventh son but from what I’ve been reading, the Democrats cannot get enough votes to pass this bill (which is why they’re waffling and postponing)There’s a whole slew of Senators (D) who are not going to support the bill and Senate leaders are frantic in their attempt to move them. (they won’t get enough) Likewise the “Cap and Trade bill Obama so desperately has to have, will arrive DOA at the Senate. According to Rush, losing this Health Care Bill of his, will be Obama’s “Waterloo”!

    FROM “THE HILL”

    By J. Taylor Rushing

    Posted: 07/22/09 04:09 PM [ET]

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) on Wednesday acknowledged for the first time that a pre-recess vote on healthcare reform is unlikely.

“We’re going to take a little longer to get it right,” Durbin told The Hill when asked about the oft-stated goal of a vote on or before Aug. 7, when a monthlong Senate recess begins. “Initially we had hoped for a full vote by then, but I don’t think it’s going to be possible.”

Delaying the vote until after Labor Day would all but erase hopes of getting a bill to President Obama by mid-October, since the House and Senate versions would have to be reconciled in conference negotiations — assuming they pass their chambers.

Durbin said the bill was still largely on track, however, denying that momentum has stalled.

But approximately 80 amendments are expected to the bill, which would take up several days of debate.

Republicans are also likely to insist that all 40 of their members speak on the Senate floor about the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor before that vote, taking up still more time.

Possumtrot Re#50: “Forget The Manchurian Candidate for a while, and win back the other legislative branch of the government.

A point forgotten by most in the U.S., especially inside the Beltway, is that there is no “other legislative branch.” Legislation — the making of law — is the exclusive domain of the Congress, which has failed miserably over at least the last three quarters of a century by permitting the Executive and, later, the Judicial Branches to intrude upon its domain.

Well, with all the big stuff going on that affects every American’s life, isn’t it comforting to know that our President finds time to inject himself officially into community matters? As if his grand Socialist schemes weren’t enough, he’s now got his puck in deep hockey with this Gates matter. It looks a lot like we could lump Wright, Gates and Obama in the same race hatred hopper. Oh wait… Afghanistan is now a non-issue since he’s backed off by saying our objective there isn’t to win. So what’s the purpose, then? So he can skate out of it?

I just realized why Obama has such a following. My brother Tim would have loved him. Based on Obama’s Stimulus bill, Tim, who died of gross obesity in 1999 (437 lbs.), would have loved to find Obama’s Stimulus Diet Plan for losing weight would have been for him eating a Texas breakfast, a dozen Big Macs, milk shakes and fries for dinner and a dozen Whoppers, milk shakes and fries for supper. In only a few months on Obama’s Stimulus Diet Plan he would have been down to 150 lbs. my 6′2″ brother would not have died at age 55 and would still be alive today - honest! B.O. said so.

B.O. is in the news now for using the word stupid. I find that ironic at best. Like someone once said, “Stupid is as stupid does.” Perhaps if you looked up stupid in the dictionary, you’d find B.O.’s photo as the purest definition.

btw On their Business Card a restaurant in Houston advertises their Texas Breakfast (not actually believing anybody would ever really order it. The price was listed as $4.95, this was back in the 70’s) The caveat was if you failed to finish all of it, you had to pay double $9.90 but if you somehow did finish all of it, you would get a chit for a free repeat.

    1 Doz. Eggs
    10 lbs bacon/sausage (5 lbs. each)
    5 lbs. potatoes (hash browns)
    1 loaf bread - toasted w/butter
    1 qt. orange juice
    1 pot coffee

Most folks cannot believe anybody could eat all of it (like the restaurant’s manager) but I sat there and watched him finish it, with several waitresses watching on in disbelief.

JL3: thank you, I stand corrected. High school was a long time ago, and I’ve wasted too many brain cells since then memorizing historical trends like the Hitlerian megalomania motivating The Manchurian Candidate’s current highway to Hell.

(Ironic, isn’t it? “Bush = Hitler”, but the closest we’ve come so far to such a travesty is a race-baiting, power-centralizing leader who courts the world’s appeasement by the sheer charm of his manufactured personality.)

Gafisher: Just as I’m aware possums are the other white meat, I am too well aware that Congress is where many of our nation’s illnesses are beginning. Loading the Supreme Court with ideologues is only going to stack the deck in favor of the many vetoes The Manchurian Candidate will exercise if/when that much-vaunted Silent Majority wakes up and refutes the rapid depredations being foisted upon us.

I take absolutely no umbrage with either of y’all. I need frequent correction, especially when one of my rhetorical points goes awry or is too cryptic.

I plan on being a lot more articulate as the off-year elections approach.

    Oh, and hey, Fred!

    HOWDY!

I’m exalted that some folks noticed I was back and commenting again, even when I screw up my Dennis Miller impersonation and get the cultural references wrong. General depression and ODS [Obama Derangement Syndrome] have kept me under the blankets for too long.

Here I spent half my childhood and all of my adult life refuting the cultural programming that could’ve easily made me a racist redneck, and the payoff is I end up loathing a black man who is destroying my country.

Nah, I think I dislike Obama for all the right reasons. I still judge people by their merit, and he has none.

Wow…we used to do that “first!” and “last!” nonsense here.

Does this mean I get to be “last”?

According to the authentication window below, I just won $77-million dollars! Gee, blogging’s more fun than politics!

And to think, I used up about 4,000 words and two seperate posts over at United Possums International talking insanely about The Red Herring = Ol’ Adolph. I could’ve been here winning the big bucks and stashing them away so’s I can buy Chrysler back from the French.

Now, if I can just figure out how to make those dollar bills come out of that slot on the front of HAL-9000…

    The Lie Clock

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter’s desk at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him. He asked, “What are all those clocks there for?”

St. Peter answered, “Those are Lie Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move.”

“Oh,” said the man, “whose clock is that?”

“That’s Mother Teresa ’s. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie.”

“Incredible,” said the man. “And whose clock is that one?”

St. Peter responded, “That’s George Washington’s clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Washington told only two lies in his entire life.”

“Where’s Barack Obama ’s clock?” asked the man.

“Obama’s clock is in Jesus’ office. He’s using it as a ceiling fan.”

The pastor of a local church had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and drove away so that the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.

He did all this, checking his progress in the car frequently, then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved a little further forward, the rope broke. The tree went BOING and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight.

The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they’d seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, “Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping,” and went on about his business.

A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. Now this woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, “Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?”

She replied, “You won’t believe this,” and told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, “Well if God gives you a cat, I’ll let you keep it.”

She told the pastor, “I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won’t believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her.”
