Lights out, clocks spring forward for Earth Hour

By Scott Ott, Examiner Columnist

Actor Ed Norton, the Earth Hour 2009 U.S. Ambassador, today announced that, in addition to ordering all citizens and businesses to extinguish lights at 8:30 Saturday night, he has also signed an “ambassador order” calling for all clocks to move ahead one hour each night for the rest of the Obama administration.

Scott, your one jump ahead of me. When I heard about that story on talk radio this morning my brain went into overdrive then crashed from over stimulation.

Bravo and I hope other readers will know what you are talking about. Right now I have to figure out why my computer is running Spanish ads and turning my blog site into Mexican languages.

I do believe my computer has been invaded

If Ed Norton supports it you know it’s more than just another carney act.

Mr. Ott, your piquant wit never ceases to amaze me. By the way, for anyone wondering what this is all about: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090327/ap_on_re_us/earth_hour

Scott, is this man related to you?

Suburban Philadelphia ice cream shop owner Bob Gerenser, 56, believes global warming is based on faulty science and calls Earth Hour “nonsense.”

The resident of New Hope, Pa., and owner of Gerenser’s Exotic Ice Cream planned to illuminate his store with extra theatrical lighting.

“I’m going to get everyone I know in my neighborhood to turn on every light they possibly can to waste as much electricity as possible to underline the absurdity of this action … by being absurd,” he said.

Click [here] for another view of the Earth Hour concept. Essentially, it’s a sort of practice run to help acclimate us to Obama’s energy policy.

Mind you, I actually spend time in New Hope now and again and I believe next time I’ll stop by and chat with this man…

  • 9 boberinyetagain // Mar 27, 2009 at 11:00 am

I’m guessing if that man bought a car that got 50 miles per gallon he’d pump 15 gallons onto the ground at each fill up. That’d show us a thing or 2…

Hey bobbleheadyetagain: How come you never responded to my answer to your question on the “Obama Seeks Expanded Power to Seize U.S. Treasury” thread?

    In comment #45 you said/asked: boberinyetagain // Mar 26, 2009 at 1:49 pm
And who, besides conservative nut cases, has ever referred to Obama as any sort of messiah?

To which I ANSWERED and then ASKED you, in comment #48 and 49:
    R.A.M. // Mar 26, 2009 at 4:22 pm

So bobblehead, you are saying Louie Farrakahn ia a Conservative nut case?

Get informed before you post dumb false statements like you just did and keep making yourself look more foolish than before, as if that were possible!

bobblehead, Don’t you feel a little bit foolish with that comment, And who, besides conservative nut cases, has ever referred to Obama as any sort of messiah?
    ?

Probably not since you don’t feel foolish still defending OBOOBA and his stupid “TRANSPARENT” lies that keep piling up!

Minds SMARTER than yours want to know!

And please, don’t do the “spin dance” I got from laughing gasbag, aka neverthink, to tell me I misspelled Kool AID.

If OBOOBA has his way, he will simply outlaw ANY clocks, then no one will be able to tell when his “15 minutes” are up!

    PS: They are ALREADY up!

Prayers going up for you UNL!

  • 18 boberinyetagain // Mar 27, 2009 at 2:09 pm

    RAM,

    a) I did not see your response
    b) Farakaan is a nut case. I was unaware that he had made such a reference but, now that I am i can amend my statement to “conservatives AND nutcases” and sometimes they overlap
    c) your thinly veiled racist comments continue unabated and to my mind render most any of your ranting about this President moot as they are not “performance based” so much as “hatred based”. My rants against George for lo these many years were strictly performance based
    d) Obama has already done many things I don’t like and you’ve seen me rail aganst them. I promise to continue because, as I’ve mentioned 89 of 90 times before I’m affiliated with neither party, they both do appaling things much to often to garner any long term respect. This whole bailout is a prime example, both parties are very responsible and I don’t approve of either ones approach. That being said, I do want to give a different approach a shot. Obama represented that difference whereas McCain did not. Thus my second in a lifetime vote for a winner. Reagan was the first…

Anything I didn’t clear up well enough for you?

  • 26 da Bunny // Mar 27, 2009 at 10:15 pm

Hi, fellow Scrapplers. It’s been a long, long while since I’ve posted, but I’m still around. :-)

As far as the “lights out” for Earth Day, I’m going to follow Rush’s lead, and turn all my lights ON. And, to the phonies and hypocrites who continue their “manmade global warming” whining, I again submit this question: “What human activity ended the last Ice Age?” To date, liberal global-warming hoax believers have not provided an answer to this question.

  • 27 onlineanalyst // Mar 28, 2009 at 5:39 am

Leave it to the UK press to describe Ackbar’s trip to the G-20 as a “flying circus.”

Talk about impressing the world with his carbon footprint. Does this malignant narcissist think that he is King Farouk?

  • 28 gafisher // Mar 28, 2009 at 6:16 am

Good to hear from you, da Bunny!

Re “What human activity ended the last Ice Age?” I’m afraid our tendency to entirely discount research if the majority of it is shown to be bad has blinded us to the tiny glimmers of sound evidence dealing with your question. I’m not sure if it made it into his book or slide show, but Al Gore and his disciples seem quite convinced that [this] unequivocally answers your question.

  • 29 Fred Sinclair // Mar 28, 2009 at 10:32 am

da Bunny #26 - Good to hear from you! Like yourself and a few million others in America -at 20:30 hrs (8:30 P.M.) all of my lights will be ON including the one over my kitchen stove.

The human activity that ended the last “ice age” was brought about by a nice lady in what’s now called northern Germany (or northeastern France). She got tired of rubbing two sticks together to make her cooking fire, so she mixed up some sulphur, phosphorus and potassium nitrate (saltpeter). put some on the end of a little stick and when her husband came home from a hard days work, the cooking fire was blazing merrily.
How did you do that? he asked; she replied, “I invented this little thingy. I’m going to call it a ‘kitchen match’ and when I lit it, the glaciers began to melt, so tomorrow I’m going to plant some sweet peas, tomatoes, lettuce and green onions right over there where the glacier was yesterday.” and of course her husband Og exclaimed “Right on, baby, right on!”

And that’s the facts, da Bunny, and my facts are just as valid, true and verifiable as scamster algore’s “Manmade Global Warming” hoax. so now you know the true story, answering your question. (you’re welcome).

    This just in from Barb:

Now the truth comes out…….. A timeline from hell and proof that it all could have been prevented. SPREAD THIS AROUND BEFORE IT IS REMOVED!!!!! This video clearly shows that George Bush warned Congress starting in 2001, that this economic crisis was coming, if something was not done. But Congress refused to listen, along with the arrogant Congressman, Barney Frank. This video says it all. The liberal media reportedly did not want this video on You Tube; it was taken off. This link is of the same video, but is routed through Canada. Everyone in America needs to see this before it is yanked off the internet again! A kindergarten teacher gave her class a “show and tell” assignment. Each student was instructed to bring in an object to share with the class that represented their religion.

The first student got up in front of the class and said, “My name is Benjamin and I am Jewish and this is a Star of David.”The second student got up in front of the class and said, “My name is Mary. I’m a Catholic and this is the Crucifix.”

The third student got in up front of the class and said, ” My name is Tommy and I am Baptist and this is a casserole.”

I am writing a children’s book and I need some help from everyone, (especially the trolls, since most of them have even less sense than them).

It may sound familiar. It is about a boy/puppet/empty suit who likes to tell lies, and everytime he does his ears grow.

    I am calling it “Baracchio”!

Based on a true story.

  • 36 Fred Sinclair // Mar 28, 2009 at 4:56 pm

R.A.M. #35 - Baracchio’s lies are coming back to haunt him, oddly enough, he couldn’t care less. He’s getting his agenda under way at breakneck speed, but I think that once he’s outed and his Kenyan birth is established, every thing he’s signed will be null and void.

His $20m trip to visit the Queen is already raising eyebrows. He’s like a 16 yr old kid with a bottle of whiskey and keys to his Dad’s new car.

He seems bent on morphing America into “Cuba North” with himself playing the role of Fidel.

He’s going to try for a gun grab following in the footsteps of his hero.

This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration!

The Ackbar fanboys club that checks in here occasionally to drop some irrelevant snark bombs will not like Mark Steyn’s astute evaluation of their hero. Then again, Steyn has more common sense than they have.

It’s fairly obvious that Ackbar hasn’t a clue about working for a living and the recklessness of his assuming debt in our country’s name.

  • 38 onlineanalyst // Mar 28, 2009 at 5:44 pm

Did anyone else see the video of the incredibly long line at a Tysons Corner, VA, mall of people waiting to have Mark Levin’s signature on their own copy of his latest book, Liberty and Tyranny?

Levin (the Great One) has a take-no-prisoner style, a fine legal mind and a fundamental grasp of what the Constitution guarantees and what its limitations are.

The book has been available only a few days, and it is already #1 on Amazon.

After Ackbar seizes our banks, will he go for the books, guns, or conservative talk radio next?

Obama gets list of top Muslim Americans
    Denver Post Wire Report
    Posted: 03/27/2009 12:30:00 AM MDT
    http://www.denverpost.com/headlines/ci_12006596

CHICAGO - In a bid to get more Muslim Americans working in the Obama administration, a book with resumes of 45 of the nation’s most qualified - Ivy League grads, Fortune 500 executives and public servants, all carefully vetted - has been submitted to the White House.

The effort, driven by community leaders and others, including U.S. Rep.
Keith Ellison, D-Minn., was bumped up two weeks because White House officials heard about the venture, said J. Saleh Williams, program coordinator for the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association, who sifted through more than 300 names.

“It was mostly under the radar,” Williams said. “We thought it would put (the president) in a precarious position. We didn’t know how closely he wanted to appear to be working with the Muslim American community.”

  • 45 Fred Sinclair // Mar 29, 2009 at 12:50 am

ola #44 - As I pointed out in an earlier e-mail:

Wow! What a surprise!! This is akin to learning that water is wet, snowballs are cold, fire is hot, etc. A Muslim is always a Muslim first; vetted or not.

What is really surprising is that instead of his payoff appointments to his Cabinet that have proven to be stupid. I’m nonplussed as to why he didn’t appoint his entire cabinet from the list of 45. (”….resumes of 45 of the nation’s most qualified - Ivy League grads, Fortune 500 executives and public servants, all carefully vetted - has been submitted to the White House.)

Britain’s Hannan stated it brilliantly when he said, “Everyone but politicians know this.”

Hopefully this will be England’s future Thatcher. We need a conservative leader who can
explain conservative ideas clearly, with passion.

Go to You Tube if the link doesn’t make it. It’s worth it! - Waxless Fred

P.S. Perhaps he didn’t make the appointments from the ‘list of 45′ because it might not look very good to have his entire Cabinet ‘all carefully vetted’ when he himself has NEVER been “vetted”.

  • 47 R.A.M. // Mar 29, 2009 at 8:25 am

OLA re#44: You didn’t mention the other member of Congress that is a Muslim, Rep. Andre’ Carson (D) 7th district Indiana.

The seat was held for years by his granny, Julia Carson (D) Indianapolis, IN, until she died and left the seat to her grandson in her “will”, and it was enforced by the local Dems with tons of money help from the DNC.

A REAL interesting story for those who don’t know it. Rep. Andre Carson (Muslim Dem) Indiana 7th District, was an excise cop in Indianapolis only a few years ago when granny Julia, who had been sick for many years, (mostly caused by her alcohol use), missed MANY, MANY votes but would not step down and give up her POWER in the House, came back to Indianapolis and managed to get a “friend” on the Indianapolis City/County Council thrown from office for living out of his district, (Patrice Abdullah, actually it was across the street from the boundry), and they “slipped in” Andre as his replacement on the Council, so he would have some “political experience”. Then in only a few months, granny dies and Andre is ran as her replacement, touting his “experience on the Council”, (all of about 2 or 3 months TOTAL!), and with a TON of cash from the DNC!

Wow, sounds a LOT like the Obama story, doesn’t it?

Of course with the “Julia Carson get-out-the-homeless-and-drug/alcoholic-vote-machine”, he won. I know for a fact that the local AFL-CIO headquarters helped out with rosters sent to local unions with members info, how they are registered, and “volumteers” are told to ONLY go to Democrat homes to offer rides. Then it is back to AFL-CIO headquarters for a KFC dinner!

I have already seen he and Obama have become close friends. They probably attend the same “worship” services!

By the way, Andre uses of of those things after the “e” in his name. Do they call them an umlaute?

Anyway, it’s real fancy for a Muslim.

With Keith Ellison, and Obama, that now makes three—right?

PS: Julia has another grandson that she raised. He is doing hard time for torchering and killing a gay man. It was pretty brutal.

Maybe Andre’ can have Obama pardon him?

I bet there is some cabinet post job available for an upstanding young murderer like this?

  • 48 R.A.M. // Mar 29, 2009 at 8:47 am

Before the trolls come out asking for links to back any of this up, here is their favorite source:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Carson

It tells something I didn’t know, that Steny Hoyer and Nasty “Nan” Pelosi gave 4K of their campaign funds to help him get elected. And he was endorsed by Senator Evan Bayh and Louis Farrakhan.

Now there is the REAL odd couple!

This is a quote from Wiki: “In June 2008, he announced he was joining the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Equality Caucus of the U.S. House, chaired by U.S. Representative Barney Frank (D-MA).

Gee, I wonder if Barney knows about his cousin’s hatred of gays? I wonder where he learned it from? Surely not ole Julia?

That might mean the “other grandson”/cousin, (that was raised by the same granny), might be a “homophobe” too!

Bet he don’t call him out like he did Scalia if that is found to be true!

    LETTER FROM THE BOSS…..

As the CEO of this organization, I have resigned myself to the facts, that Barrack Obama is our President and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, our prices would have to increase by about 10%.

But since we cannot increase our prices right now due to the dismal state of the economy, we will have to lay off our employees instead. This has really been bothering me, since I believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who would have to go.

So, this is what I did. I walked through our parking lot and found ‘Obama’ bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the ones to let go. I can’t think of a fairer way to approach this problem. They voted for change, I’m giving it to them.

onlineanalyst, I love how you refer to the Marxist/Muslim disaster in the White House as “Ackbar.” It’s perfect…

    Ackbar spelled backwards is Ogabe.

Check out this video… and make it go viral. The guy gets it!

Still pretty dry but facing yet another “winter storm” with eight to thirteen inches of snow coming later today….
Some fairly recent photos of our battle here.

Thanks for the photo link, UNL. You are very much a part of our thoughts and prayers here at Scrappleface?

None of that Ray Nagin whining for you folks. They make them hearty and resourceful upnorth.

Watching BHO’s head go back and forth and back and forth as he reads gives me a headache.

Duh! I just now noticed that I used a question mark in post #55 when I had intended a period. What did I say about wearing my glasses while posting?

I guess that not too many people know that the Red River flows from south to north and that when the incredible amount of snow pack and ice that accumulated this past winter began to melt, the ice jams compounded the problems of a shallow-banked river area. To face the further eight to 13 inches of new snow now adds insult to injury.

God bless you folks! It takes sturdy people to cope with what nature doles out indiscriminately.
