$50 Billion in Cash Headed for Paid-Up Homeowners

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 177 Comments

(2009-02-17) — Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner this week will unveil a plan to address the nation’s housing crisis by making $50 billion in direct payments to the 91 percent of homeowners who currently pay their mortgages on time.

The plan is an 11th-hour revision of the original scheme which would have allowed government-backed renegotiation of loans between banks and delinquent or foreclosed homeowners.

“We want to invest in what works,” said Mr. Geithner. “It suddenly dawned on me that rewarding people who bought more house than they could afford, and backing banks that made risky loans, would just throw good money after bad. But the vast majority of Americans make sensible mortgage decisions, so when we put cash in their hands they’ll use it in ways that will reinforce a sound, sustainable economy.”

Only about nine percent of mortgages are delinquent or in foreclosure, Mr. Geithner noted.

“The best thing for these folks is to get them out of the McMansions and into modest homes or rental units they can afford,” the Treasury chief said. “If we bail them out now, then we just send a signal to the banks that Uncle Sam stands behind every foolish, risky or evil thing you do. We would effectively nationalize the banks while subsidizing people who think the American dream is a birthright payable upon demand.”

Asked by a reporter why the federal government should get involved at all, taking out a $50 billion loan to try to stabilize credit markets, Mr. Geithner said, “We’re just following the great Democrat example of Franklin Roosevelt during the Depression.”

“FDR knew that it doesn’t matter whether what you do will work, or even make sense,” he said, “What matters is that people think you care, and they see you doing something. Borrowing money against future tax receipts is something we can do, and we do it well.”

    Things are probably different in Pennsylvania, but here in Michigan the vast majority of the foreclosed homes I see rotting were pretty modest before the owners lost their jobs. Yes, there are McMansions here and there, but it’s extraordinarily heartless to characterize every lost home as such.

    Umm, no money has shown up here at the poor house either, only fear of the future for the disabled.

    So, the way I figured out the whole promise is the poor and those unable to forge for themselves would be on Happy Street-you know, no more house payments, car payments and gas fill ups.

    Gee, you Republicans sure seem to love inflicting pain on to your fellow man these days.
    I read today that Republicans in California will not support additional taxes necessary to keep government working. So, the State is going to have to lay off 20,000 employees and shut down all construction projects throwing even more thousands out of work.
    Nice guys huh ?
    And Hawkeye, you don’t have to take the money you know. You can return it or better yet send your share of the extra bucks to your fellow man in California being thrown out of work? Or just give it to somebody where you live who lost their job. Bet you don’t do either !!

  • 12 upnorthlurkin // Feb 17, 2009 at 10:50 am

    Hey Zippy, those were 20,000 government jobs the way I heard it….I doubt anyone will notice they’re gone…..for every 2 government jobs, there’s one person sitting there doing nothing. It’s called trimming the fat! They’re not doing much, why should we keep paying them?! Yeah, we’re heartless ba@#$%*s….California caused California’s problems…let Californians take a good hard look at why they’re in debt and fix the causes….then we’ll talk!

    You know Newsman I wonder just how much those same government workers worried about the average person having a hard time making ends meet with the unbelievable taxes, costs of insurance, lay-offs, the price of electricity and all. On top of that there is the constant government interference in their lives and the fact that government workers tend to have good pay and great benefits that others can only envy. Sometimes there has to be a gesture made (in this case by the Republicans) that lets people know; “we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take any more!”. Sometimes people can’t really imagine other people’s pain they have to feel it before they understand. If this gives government in California a wake-up call it could be well worth it, although I would be extremely sorry to see people laid off.
    It’s time to stop seeing ideas as Republican or Democrat and argue the merits. Our government is supposed to work for us but our government is not working for us, they seem to be working on some kind of power grab and we are down here squabbling about whose ideas are the worst and pointing fingers each other.

    California’s out-of-control budget was one of the major issues in the 2003 special recall election in which Schwartzenegger defeated Gray Davis to become governor.

    Since then, the budget has grown by forty percent to $144 billion.

    This is not a problem that just came up.

    Scrapplers,

    Boy, ain’t Conservatives grand!

    You just love to tell everybody else what to do. But, nobody can tell you anything!

    “You say, I am rich, and have wealth stored up, and I stand in need of nothing; and you do not know that if there is a wretched creature it is *you* — pitiable, poor, blind, naked. Revelation 3:17 ~ Weymouth New Testament

    It was the arrogance and ineptitude of your last choice to lead the nation that allowed an attack on our soil. It was his “know it all” attitude that got America bogged down in Iraq. Yet there you all are, “Chickenhawks” all decked out in your breeches, pointing at stuff with your riding crop. Talking about the glory of war.

    You have been the proponents of economic policies which have driven our nation to the brink of financial ruin. You have been preaching fiscal restraint while running America to record debt!

    Your very self-righteousness, your contempt for the needy, your hatred for those who disagree with you, your strutting refusal to take responsibility for your own bad decisions, and your obstruction of those who are trying to act in ways consistent with the faith you claim, but to which you are unfaithful.

    “*You* are the salt of the earth; but if salt has become tasteless, in what way can it regain its saltness? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown away and trodden on by the passers by. Matthew 5:13 ~ Weymouth New Testament
    “Accordingly, because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, before long I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:16 ~ Weymouth New Testament

    It is these things which prove you have lost your way!

    Repent now!

    It was the arrogance and ineptitude of your last choice to lead the nation that allowed an attack on our soil… Nope. I didn’t vote for Clinton before the WTC was attacked in 1993. That is the attack you are referring to, correct?

    It was his “know it all” attitude that got America bogged down in Iraq… I wouldn’t call George H.W. Bush a “know it all”, but it was he who got us into Iraq. Dubya just finished the job.

    You have been the proponents of economic policies which have driven our nation to the brink of financial ruin… The Democrats were in control when the Community Reinvestment Act was passed in 1977. And it was again the Dems who were in charge when the CRA was changed, forcing banks to make risky loans.

    And it was the Dems who resisted greater regulation of Fannie and Freddie.

    But you know all that, don’t you.

    I beg to differ. I responded at #17. And as far as giving money to people who are “really hurting”, well… I have been instructed to say nothing.

    1 “Beware of practicing your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. 2 “Thus, when you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. -Matthew 6:1-4

    You missed that part where I say:

    “… your strutting refusal to take responsibility for your own bad decisions”.

    “Nope. I didn’t vote for Clinton before the WTC was attacked in 1993. That is the attack you are referring to, correct?”

    You can thank Bill Clinton for keeping the “Homeland” safe from attack by foreign terrorist” for seven years, in the same way you all say Bush kept us safe! Difference there is the 1993 incident was the first, and he didn’t have a president to warn him like Bush did.

    “Dubya just finished the job.”

    What? I can’t believe you just said that! We still have 140,000 of America’s finest there! You must be talkin’ about that “Mission Accomplished” sign which seems to be among the two or three things Bush thinks he may have gotten wrong.

    “You have been the proponents of economic policies which have driven our nation to the brink of financial ruin… The Democrats were in control when the Community Reinvestment Act was passed in 1977. And it was again the Dems who were in charge when the CRA was changed, forcing banks to make risky loans.

    And it was the Dems who resisted greater regulation of Fannie and Freddie”.

    Now, Hawkeye, I just know that you are smarter, and more manly than to weasel like this!

    Y’all had more than seven and a half years to fix any of the problems you claim Democrats made. Heck, you had four years of control of the Congress and the Executive Branches, and a Judiciary which had demonstrated a willingness to help the simpleminded.

    But, no, instead there was Captain Squint & Smirk laying on the podium, a sayin’ there only phrase he ever learned to say without screwing it up, “The economy is fundamentally sound”. A phrase which was to become a standard in “The Book of Republican Talking Points”.

    In fact, Phil Gramm, chief financial adviser to Sen. John McCain even said any recession was all in our heads, and that we were whining!

    Then, of course, there was the use of that “The economy is fundamentally sound” mantra by your party standard bearer John McCain.

    I just heard a new poll cited on MSMBC about congressional approval AFTER The Stimulus Vote, which said: Republicans DOWN by 2%, and Democrats UP by 26%.

    Don’t worry, ignore the polls! What do they know anyway!

    Breeches (pronounced [ˈbritʃɪz]) are an item of male clothing covering the body from the waist down, with separate coverings for each leg, usually stopping just below the knee, though in some cases reaching to the ankles.The breeches were normally closed and fastened about the leg, along its open seams at varied lengths, and to the knee, by either buttons or by a draw-string , or by one or more straps and buckle or brooches. Formerly the breeching of a young boy, at an age somewhere between six and eight, was a landmark in his childhood.

    The spelling britches reflects a common pronunciation, and is often used in casual speech to mean trousers or “pants”. Breeks is a Scots or northern English spelling and pronunciation.

    “October 2004: Presidential Candidates Debate Tora Bora Battle; Evidence Supports Kerry’s Position

    In the 2004 presidential campaign, Democratic challenger Sen. John Kerry accuses the Bush administration of allowing bin Laden to escape Afghanistan in late 2001 by not sending enough US troops to contain him when he was trapped in the Tora Bora region. The New York Times publishes an op-ed by Gen. Tommy Franks, the former head of US Central Command. Franks writes, “On more than one occasion, Senator Kerry has referred to the fight at Tora Bora in Afghanistan during late 2001 as a missed opportunity for America. He claims that our forces had Osama bin Laden cornered and allowed him to escape. How did it happen? According to Mr. Kerry, we ‘outsourced’ the job to Afghan warlords. As commander of the allied forces in the Middle East, I was responsible for the operation at Tora Bora, and I can tell you that the senator’s understanding of events doesn’t square with reality.… We don’t know to this day whether Mr. bin Laden was at Tora Bora in December 2001. Some intelligence sources said he was; others indicated he was in Pakistan at the time; still others suggested he was in Kashmir. Tora Bora was teeming with Taliban and al-Qaeda operatives, many of whom were killed or captured, but Mr. bin Laden was never within our grasp.” Franks is a vocal supporter of Bush’s reelection. [New York Times, 10/19/2004] Shortly after Franks’ comments, four Knight Ridder reporters who had been at Tora Bora during the battle revisit the issue. They discover that “Franks and other top officials ignored warnings from their own and allied military and intelligence officers that the combination of precision bombing, special operations forces, and Afghan forces that had driven the Taliban from northern Afghanistan might not work in the heartland of the country’s dominant Pashtun tribe.” [Knight Ridder, 10/30/2004] Author Peter Bergen asserts, “There is plenty of evidence that bin Laden was at Tora Bora, and no evidence indicating that he was anywhere else at the time.” Bergen cites after-action US intelligence reports and interviews with US counterterrorism officials that express confidence bin Laden was at Tora Bora. He notes that bin Laden discussed his presence at the Tora Bora battle in a audio message released in 2003. [PeterBergen (.com), 10/28/2004] In 2005, Gary Berntsen, who was in charge of an on-the-ground CIA team trying to find bin Laden (see September 26, 2001), will claim that he gave Franks definitive evidence that bin Laden was trapped in Tora Bora (see Late October-Early December 2001). [Financial Times, 1/3/2006] In 2006, former counterterrorism “tsar” Richard Clarke will comment, “Yes, we know [bin Laden] absolutely was there.… And yes, he did escape. And Gen. Franks and the president can deny it until the cows come home, but they made a mistake. They did let him go away.” [PBS Frontline, 6/20/2006] In late 2006, it will be reported that the CIA possesses a video showing bin Laden walking out of Afghanistan at the end of the Tora Bora battle. It has not been reported if the CIA was aware of this video in 2004 or not (see Mid-December 2001).

    gafisher #49 & unl #53 -

    I’ve just uncovered a secret. In the circus the circus people don’t call suckers, “suckers”. They call them ‘rubes’ which is also circus talk for ‘Country Bumpkins’ (unlearned, persons who will eagerly fall for any old hoax, flim-flam artist who is selling bottles of “snake oil-cures all” out of the back of his wagon).

    So today when “He who is the absence of God” signed his “Porkulus” bill in Denver the first word out of his mouth upon lifting his pen from the paper was not - repeat - not “Suckers”. The first word out was “Rubes” (must have been hanging around that circus aka Chicago to pick up on the lingo) “Rubes - the whole bunch of them.”

    Well for once, getting away from his running contest to out ‘Slick Willie”, “Slick Willie’. He was speaking the truth. He probably was thinking, “There’s actually Rubes out there that I scammed into believing that this bill will create jobs other than the 600,000 Federal jobs created when I draft the people to serve in my Civilian Security Force”.

    “Are you privy to DoD documents/briefings?!”

    I believe their is a wide gap between your imagination of the validity of such things and reality. Did you ever hear the term “fog of war”?

    “I don’t want to report failure, or error on my part; besides, if I did, the old man might not get his next promotion.”

    Like I said last night, Richard Belzer, (a typical lib like et), said on Hannity, “Who cares about the stock market?”

    Apparently not libs. The DOW went down 300 points again today because of Obama and his “minions”!

    Even if you ‘Obamabot morons’ don’t know much about the “Great Depression”, surely you have heard it was due to the STOCK MARKET crashing-right?

    And before one of you brain dead trolls says, “It’s Bush’s fault”, the stock market reflects recent events, such as Prez Dumbo using “our children’s charge card” by signing this moronic stimulus bill.

    Libs are so easy, their criminal politicians voting through a bill that NO ONE has read, and then defending it.

    I would like to see the small print in newsman or et’s mortgage papers, (if EITHER actually are buying a home).

    Better yet, if they are that easy, maybe I can lend them some money under MY conditions, (that they don’t get to read it first). :lol:

    You have to wonder if ‘Senator’ Burris will be kicked out of Congress first, or will it be Prez ‘Usurper’, now that the Supreme Court HAS to address the case of him not being a citizen since there is now “Standing” and MORE than enough plaintiffs.

    The MSM will HAVE to report about it soon. As news man likes to say, “Mark my words!”

    WHEN, (not if), it happens, goodby “Stimulus bill”, goodby Cabinet posts, goodby “smirking libs”! :-)

    re#18 - Conservatives out give liberals by a healthy margin. In fact, most “poor” conservatives such as you find right here give more to charitable causes than many wealthy liberals who hold high level elected offices.
    Salt is a preserving agent, if there is anyone that is not doing their part to preserve this society it is liberals. They (liberal clergy) refuse to warn of sin that destroys individuals and societies. Many even are advocates for “lifestyles” that God forbids. How can anything be any more wicked than for a person who is claiming to present God’s message to a people refusing to stand according to His Word? When a person who claims to be as spiritual as you claim to be and then drinks the koolaid of the kill a baby for naught and sodomy is our pride crowds, you are salt that is become of none effect. When the time comes to stand before the Holy One, would a person who steadfastly worked to prevent the shedding of innocent blood fair better or worse than one who has aided and abetted their slaughter? How a man stands on those types of moral issues reveals their heart’s response to their Creator. Obama’s actions indicate that his support for things that God condemned is likely rooted in the fact that he prefers to do evil deeds, more than it shows him as merely choosing taking those stands for political gain and/or popularity.
    No doubt about it, we will all have a lot of ’splainin’ to do - albeit there is nothing for anyone to say in their defense. But for me, I do not wish to have any association with abortion laid to my account when my day comes - regardless of the fact that the blood of Christ Jesus cleanses me from all sin. My conscience is clear.
    Proverbs 4:23
    Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

    Today Rush quoted our second president - President John Adams. Amazingly back then, over 200 years ago, John Adams had the ability to peer ahead in time and forecast today’s libbers.

    “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions which are unbridled by morality and true religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

    RUSH: That’s John Adams, one of the founders. Now, of course, people who are unbridled by morality or the immoral, if you will, and the people who are not truly religious, this Constitution – and he’s dead right, I mean he was one of the founders – this Constitution is a restriction to them. I mean it is punitive to them. And he said this Constitution cannot deal with people like that.

    The any others, sure enough find our Republic with our Constitution, wholly inadequate for their purposes. Unfortunately (for them) it appears that part of their ignorance involves an inability to read. For the few who actually did learn to read, it involves an inability to comprehend.
    For if they could read and comprehend they would learn that there is not one instance in the history of the planet where socialism has ever worked.

    Even Republics have a limited lifetime since no Republic (average-about 200 years) ever last longer than it takes the people to learn that they can vote themselves cake and champagne (thank you Robert A. Heinlein) and force the workers to pay for it. At that time they become a socialist state that crumbles and fails since once they stop feeding the mule, the mule stops pulling the wagon.

    Every time I turned around I was being stripped of my hard earned cash. I worked hard, I traveled hard and made good money which I invested in Montana property. I guess I hated having money because I moved to Ohio and lost my fortune.

    My fellow man who remained in California did so by choice. They enjoyed paying several thousand a month for a good apartment. They enjoyed sitting in traffic. They enjoyed paying for illegals by the multi-thousands.

    I can’t do squat for them because they choose to live there. Not me. So if they want to fill my coffers here in the Buckeye let them. But I didn’t leave anything back there to go and retrieve.

    I oughta take out a second mortgage on my house, buy a Ferrari and demand the federal government bail me out. It’s the only fair thing to do.

    From the good folks at PowerLineBlog:

    DEMS WILL BE DEMS

    If our curent economic woes continue for, say, two years or if the economy crashes to new depths, a populist backlash is almost inevitable. As I have argued ( here, for example), the conduct of the Democrats since taking power will intensify that backlash, and cement the Democrats’ status as its main target. That conduct includes the selecting for high office of wealthy individuals who did not comply with the tax law; promptly reneging on promises of bipartisanship; and rushing through legislation (before anyone but the lobbyists had a chance to read it) that is laden with pork for Democratic special interests.

    Michael Lind senses the danger, and captures it well in this possible epitaph for the Dems: “First they came for the bankers; then they came for the CEOs; then they came for the liberals.” Lind reminds us that the white-collar liberals who dominate the Democratic party are inherently vulnerable to populist resentment, given their “remarkable ability to dress up their own economic interests in the rhetoric of globalization and anti-racism while attacking the motives and assaulting the characters of Americans who are far less wealthy and privileged.” (Obama himself did this in his infamous remark about Americans who cling to guns or religion).

    Throw in a depression or prolonged recession on their watch, and there will be hell for the Democrats to pay.

    Too bad the average American will literally have to suffer the idiocies of liberal Democrats. Now that Mr. Obama has signed the Special Interest Bailout Bill into law, there’s a better than 50-50 chance that we’ll get to see what “the worst economy since the Great Depression” really looks like. It may even make the Jimmah Carter years look competent.

    Let me share it with you outsiders!
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Everthink
    Today, I signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law.
    This is a historic step — the first of many as we work together to climb out of this crisis — and I want to thank you for your resolve and your support.
    You organized thousands of house meetings. You shared your ideas and personal stories. And you informed your friends and neighbors about the need for immediate action. You continue to be a powerful voice for change throughout the country.
    The recovery plan will create or save 3.5 million jobs, provide tax cuts for working and middle-class families, and invest in health care and clean energy.
    It’s a bold plan to address a huge problem, and it will require my vigilance and yours to make sure it’s done right.
    I’ve assigned a team of managers to oversee the implementation of the recovery act. We are committed to making sure no dollar is wasted. But accountability begins with you.
    That’s why my administration has created Recovery.gov, a new website where citizens can track every dollar spent and every job created. We’ll invite you and your neighbors to weigh in with comments and questions.
    Our progress will also be measured by the tens of thousands of personal stories submitted by people who are struggling to make ends meet. If you haven’t already, you can read stories from families all across the country:
    http://my.barackobama.com/yourstories
    Your stories are the heart of this recovery plan, and that’s what I’ll focus on every day as President.
    With your continued support, we’ll emerge a stronger and more prosperous nation.
    Thank you,
    President Barack Obama
    your hatred for those who disagree with you [liberals' own hatred is quite apparent. Liberals are the most condescending hateful people I've every run across in my life and once again neverthink is further proof of which I speak],
Liberals are always trying to undermine the values and faith that have been taught to the young people by responsible adults, pooh poohing us as outdated anarchronisms],
    but to which you are unfaithful. [liberals are the biggest hypocrites this side of Judas.     Conservatives out give liberals by a healthy margin. How is it you know this?
    Neverthink, your ignorance must be self-imposed. I can’t tell you how many times we’ve documented this fact on this site yet you continue to maintain your ignorance. I guess facts just don’t mean anything to you.
    Once again, troll, here’s a link to an article about registered Independent Arthur C. Brooks who was surprised by the results that conservatives on average not only give 30% more of their income we also donate more blood and more of our time to charitable causes. About all you liberals donate is more misery and your BS.
    There have been other studies done which came to similar conclusions but being the self-righteous twit that you are you’ll probably run to some left-wing blog sites in hopes that you can find one that will be able to “debunk” (along with a few ad hominem attacks along the way) the study and thus salvage what little dignity you have left.
    And I can tell you for a fact that the conservatives I know, including myself, give faaaaaar more of our personal income to church and charitable causes than even the average conservative in Brooks study.
    Brooks’ book/study can be ordered here
    Dr. Brooks’ bio is here
    Which all goes to prove, liberals put form (and self-righteous rhetoric) over real subtance. In general liberals are all show and very little go when it comes to true compassion and charity. They see their taxes as a tithe to government, hence the liberals see the welfare state as proof of their “compassion”.
    Hysterical much?
    It would be great if et and his best buddies would knock off the Axelrod “astroturfing” and hijacking of threads to indulge in their perpetual Bush grievances.
    With the signing of the Generational Theft Bill, Obama and his party enablers OWN the damage that they will impose on this nation, its productive businesses and hardworking, taxpaying citizens.
    Here is a timely reminder from a master communicator:
    “How can limited government and fiscal restraint be equated with lack of compassion for the poor? How can a tax break that puts a little more money in the weekly paychecks of working people be seen as an attack on the needy? Since when do we in America believe that our society is made up of two diametrically opposed classes—one rich, one poor—both in a permanent state of conflict and neither able to get ahead except at the expense of the other? Since when do we in America accept this alien and discredited theory of social and class warfare? Since when do we in America endorse the politics of envy and division?” –Ronald Reagan
    The California budgetary crisis is a foretaste of what is in store for the nation as a whole. An out-of-control welfare class, largely created by sanctuaries for illegals, has strained resources in health, education, and other supportive resources. Exhorbitant taxation and regulation have driven out businesses and, thus, job opportunities. The Greens have ensnarled the courts in costly cases that prevent the use of natural resources. Go over to the HotAir thread about the California crisis, and read some first-hand stories of people who have fled the state and their reasons why, as well as those of its citizens being taxed into poverty.
    America is a land of opportunity, not opportunists. Wealth is not a zero sum game, where some must be poor so that others may be rich. Only the lazy and unimaginative fall for that discredited fairy tale. Ask anyone who has fled a socialistic or Communist state.
  • 92 everthink // Feb 18, 2009 at 10:59 am
    Hawkeye,
    What Darthweiner is actually saying is that conservatives give more money to their church which is not the same, in my view, as charity per se.
    Sadly, on a large scale churches have lost their “First Love” and are more social than spiritual, more financial than charitable, and more vain than loving.
    How many churches are involved in a continuous building program? Building great edifices as memorials to their pastors. How many when you ask them of their product can point only to a building?
    How many churches have built schools to separate their children from the world and removing their good influence from public schools. How many “Christian Schools” are trying to teach “nonsense science”. Why are their mission fields too often in such distant places? Instead of in the places of need closest to to them.
    There is a great deal of money changing going on in the temple. Many pastors regard there churches like insurance agencies, and themselves as “State Farm Agents”.
    Proof of their common failure is the smug, self satisfied, holier than thou attitude so often seen among their members and adherents.
    If you look down your nose at the dregs of society, from what has The Lord saved you?
    In fact Christians are no better than the worst of these. Their sanctification is not in their goodness, but in the mercy shown them, they’re are too often ungrateful, and hypocrites.
    Church should not be a place where you go to learn to hate anybody!
    I think what Hank, is talking about when he says “Charity”, is the thing he points to and boasts about, as do so many of you.
    Do you feed the hungry, clothe the naked, minister to the sick (including those with social diseases), visit those in jail, do you see “sinners” as people like you that you want to help? Will you lower yourself to get down in the dirt and toil with them?
    WWJD?
    I can see where a wingnut might say that, but after eight years of Bush and Rockhead Republicans having carnal knowledge of me, my family, my friends, and my nation you must recognize my need for catharsis.
    Frankly, OLA if my comments cause you discomfort, so much the better. This will just have to do until the Bush/Cheney Right-Wing Junta is tried.
    I don’t know if this link will post. I got it from Letty last night The piece is beautifully done from a Libbers point of view. (what else from PBS?) It details the meltdown on Wall Street last year. 100% of the blame is on the shoulders of CEO’s of Bear Stearns, Leman Bros. etc. Barney Frank has a grand role but unless I missed it (I don’t think so) no mention is ever made placing the blame on the Democrats who forced the Wall Street firms to make the bad loans.     Let us take a close look at FDR, the libs great man of the past. First, he was an old, man in a wheelchair, (just the type of person et has made fun of here—oh, I forgot, he was a dimocrat, so it’s not funny if he was old and feeble).
    Then there is the fact, Eleanor Roosevelt was FDR’s COUSIN, so she didn’t even have to change her name when she married him. Wow, kissing cousins, isn’t this one of the things libs falsely try to defame Conservatives with? Oh, you know, living in a trailer park, eating bologna sandwiches, and marrying our cousins/sisters? Seems libs actually do it! :-)
    Lastly, as ANY economist knows, FDR made the “Great Depression” longer by doing the same things OBOOB is trying to reenact.
    To be fair to “incest boy FDR”, he was working from scratch, and didn’t KNOW his policies would fail. In contrast, OBOOBA acts as if he actually wants America to fail!
    Sounds an awful lot like what a Muslim terrorist wants for America!
    With “Hussein” in the drivers seat, we will ALL be living in a trailer park and eating bologna sandwiches soon—IF we are lucky! ;-)
    PS: Next chapter, the libs next great Prez, JFK. The guy who’s “bootlegger daddy” bought him the Presidency after older brother Joe died in the war. (Joe jr. was supposed to be Prez). JFK then went on to almost causing a nuclear war, because he was too busy with Marilyn Monroe and other Hollywood starlets.
    Daddy then bought RFK his Senate seat, and then Teddy’s. He got a real return, (payback), on Teddy! Over 40 years living on the taxpayer “teat”!
    From a commenter over at American Spectator:
    Obama has proven himself a worthy student of power politics and has stepped into a vacuum of leadership in the USA. Obama staffed his administration with crooks and liars because there is no reason for honest people anymore.
    When you tell the public the truth you empower them. When you lie to the public you empower the politically elite.
    Under the new rules that have descended you now teach a man to fish so that he can feed others until he figures out he’s a sucker. Then you tell him he must fish or his health care will be affected. The redistribution of fish becomes the standard.
    I wish I had said that!!
    Cheapshot,
    I made fun of no one because he was old, or in a wheelchair!
    Now, when an old person lays claim to wisdom because of his age. He makes his age an issue related to his wisdom.
We didn’t know then about concentration camps or cremation ovens or the millions of Jews that would be murdered. But we learned that Adolph Hitler was a monster who had to be killed (and all of his bemused followers) We had a song (I have it in my i-tunes) “Der Feuher’s Face” by Spike Jones (Hit Parade-1942) us kids loved and learned it mainly because Spike had a lot of Brooklyn Rasberries spaced throughout the song.
    Well Fred, if you didn’t know then about concentration camps or cremation ovens or the millions of Jews that would be murdered.
    What made you think Adolph Hitler was a monster who had to be killed?
    Was it because he made the Reichstag of null effect? Or was it because he invaded other sovereign nations? Was it because he placed himself above German Law? Was it because he burned “liberal” books. Was it because he arrested and “Renditioned” intellectuals and Communists? Was is because he killed off the queers, or was it because he wouldn’t shake the hand of that “Schwarzer” Jesse Owens?
    But, you know who thought he was a swell guy? Charles Lindbergh, that’s who! And you know who else sorta liked him Henry Ford, and everybody knows what he thought of labor unions, “collectivism” and “socialism”. (Contrary to half-wit Hank’s stupid take about National Socialism being left wing) .
    And guess who else?
    George Bush’s grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush! In fact Prescott Bush’s business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave laborers at Auschwitz.
    What could it be that made you think he was a monster? Why, Fred he sounds like your kind of guy, in fact, he sound real Conservative to me!
    I guess that if a local church congregation lacks the facilities to minister to certain less fortunate people of their community it is immoral for them to raise private funds to build them. I guess that if they build facilities where they can worship God, encourage one another, pray, etc., that too is immoral. So if you follow that line of thought, anyone living in a better shelter than Obama’s half brother is also living an immoral life. The nice thing about being a critic of all things Christian is that you don’t have to do anything yourself. Your duty is to point out the evil of the “good”. If I understand things correctly, 99.99% of all Christian institutions are either abject failures or pure evil. Pity he hasn’t spent his time on this earth building and perfecting a suitable ministry to do the things that everyone else is failing to do. I guess that since no one here can be perfect then everyone should accept themselves as absolute flawed failures and not even attempt to do anything for God. God will judge our works indeed, but I’m willing to wager that in his judgement there will also be praise for what has been done well. It’s like the person who is looking for the perfect church, if he finds one and joins it - it is no longer a perfect church.
    The logic that I’m struggling to understand is how he laments the failures of Christianity and somehow it is justification to wholeheartedly get behind a leader and a movement that is anti-God to the core. I admit that I need a little help with that one. Unless he is using Alinsky type tactics…
    Angus the Scot just sent this to me and it’s too good not to pass on.
    The Coat Hanger. .
    A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her small daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication. She got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys in the car. She didn’t know What to do, so she called home and told the baby sitter what had happened.
    The baby sitter told her that the fever was getting worse. She said, “You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door.”
    The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been left on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time had locked their keys in their car. She looked at the hanger and said, “I don’t know how to use this.” She bowed her head and asked God to send her
    help.
    Within five minutes a beat up old motorcycle pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head.
    The woman thought, “This is what you sent to help me?” But, she was desperate, so she was also very thankful.
    The man got off of his cycle and asked if he could help.
    She said, “Yes, my daughter is very sick. I stopped to
    get her some medication and I locked my keys in my car. I must get home to her. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?
    He said, “Sure.” He walked over to the car, and
    in less than a minute the car was opened.
    She hugged the man and through her tears she said,
    “Thank You So Much! You are a very nice man.” The man replied, “Lady, I am not a nice man. I just got out of prison today. I was in prison for car theft and have only been out for about an hour.”
    The woman hugged the man again and with sobbing tears cried out loud, “Oh, Thank you God! You even sent me a Professional!”
    Is - GOD GOOD - or what!?
    The snail answered, “I’m going to get me an apple.”
    The worm replied, “You idiot, there’s no apples up there now!”
    To which the snail responded, “There will be by the time I get there.”
    Newsman #120 I don’t know who you are. The moniker “Newsman” is unfamiliar to me and I found myself reading your post before it became evident as to what you are.
    I don’t know where you get your ‘information’ or why you would want to bother posting on a Conservative Christian blog.
    But for your edification no Christian here “hates” anyone. That’s not even an intelligent comment.
    Our “Christian Right Conservative Views” are simply taken straight from God’s Word - aka the Bible.
    We don’t hate people - Christ died for the people of this world. However while loving people, God does hate some things - actions, not people.
    I don’t hate anyone - not even Barak Obama; I just hate everything he says and everything he does, as he attempts to convert America to worship in his religion of Socialism.
    The things God says He hates are the same things we here at ScrappleFace say we hate.
    Prov. 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
    Prov. 6:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
    Prov. 6:18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
    Prov. 6:19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
    Now I don’t know about the innocent blood part but without that Barak is batting six for seven. We are instructed to love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us. But nowhere does it say we have to like them.
    There seems to be a feeling that all of the rest of the world hates America. That simply isn’t true. The vast majority is madly in love with all of our new President and his gang of thugs. Socialism and Communism have become like a cancer, so deeply imbedded in the thinking of “The World” that they want everyone to be as miserable as themselves.
    Osama Ben Laden, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and President Ahmadinejad of Iran couldn’t think more highly of our leading Liberals.
    Their hatred is (like Jesus said it would be) singularly directed toward the followers of America’s concept of freedom. Our Constitution is based on the Judeo-Christian ethics and in their liberalism, they can’t stand it! The American Conservative is the object of their hatred. “As the world has hated me, so it will hate you.” Jesus said.
    It’s no accident that the vast majority of true Conservatives are Christians and the liberals aren’t. It was foretold with inerrant accuracy. A goodly number of them (and around the world) would rejoice, celebrate and throw parties to learn that Former Pres. Bush, Former VP Dick Cheney, Rush, Ann, Dr. Dobson, etc. had been murdered in their sleep, or hung, poisoned or whatever.
    I think the two current parties should be renamed. The Liberal Party and the Conservative Party - that would take care of our RINO’s.
    CORRECTION to my #121 post. I wrote, “Now I don’t know about the innocent blood part but without that Barak is batting six for seven.”
    Make that seven for seven! Dumb old dunderhead me. How could I have so completely screwed up?
    Prov. 6:17 “….. and hands that shed innocent blood,…”
    With the usurper’s avid support and promotion of killing as yet to be born children, how innocent they are! The world’s most innocent people and therefore although the usurper didn’t personally commit the murders I believe his role is defined as “Aiding and abetting” the murders.
    Matt. 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
    From the dictionary: abet |əˈbet|
    verb ( abetted , abetting ) [ trans. ]
    encourage or assist (someone) to do something wrong, in particular, to commit a crime or other offense : he was not guilty of murder but was guilty of aiding and abetting others.
    • encourage or assist someone to commit (a crime).
    Yup, that’s the usurper all right. As one of satan’s earthly minions (agents) he’ll have all of eternity in the pit to contemplate how he chose to serve the wrong master.
    John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
    BLACK ATTORNEY GENERAL: USA ‘nation of cowards’ on race…
    He says America is a nation of cowards because we don’t talk or debate about race enough … and I agree 100%. Who are the real cowards? Liberals! The real truth is every time we conservatives and libertarians try to have a rational debate on the issue of race, the liberals are always playing the race card by labeling those who dare challenge their intellectually bankrupt PC ideology as “racists” and “bigots” … end of “debate”.
    You see, whenever liberals can’t win a debate because their first line of bumpersticker slogans are knocked down, they invariably resort to ad hominem attacks and stereotyping the opposition (which they claim they personally abhor though they certainly aren’t above engaging in the practice themselves) by labeling us those who disagree with them as racists/homophobes/sexists/bigots blah, blah, blah.
    Look to liberals casting conservatives and libertarians as bigotted and racist cowards in light of the Attorney General’s comments.
  • 136 boberinyetagain // Feb 19, 2009 at 8:38 am
    Sadly there would appear to be no way of “winning” this economic debate unless you were already so well off that a loss 1/2 or more of your money was no big deal and that applies to very few liberals. I wonder why that is
    Hateful Sanhedrin
    Buwahahahaha. The Sanhedrin were about as liberal a Jew could get in those days. They despised the common folk and embraced intellectual elitism … just like liberals today. The Sanhedrin were the arrogant judges of Israel who, according to more than one Jewish scholar such as Rabin Mishnah and Rabbi Roth, “’sages’ who were unintentional liberals. Their conscious intent was to elucidate Torah according to the tradition passed on to them and by them “ever since Sinai”. It is what motivated the direction that their elucidations took that indicates their liberality of outlook. I believe that they had an awareness that they were changing the Written Torah beyond all recognition, but that they believed that this was the true intent of the text in the first place. They did not feel that they were interpolating their own views into Torah; they felt that they were extrapolating from the Torah what was there all the time.”
    Just like modern liberals and the New Testament/Bible, I’d say. The spirit of the Sanhedrin is almost perfectly mirrored by the oxymoronic movement today we know as liberal “Christian” humanism - that is, “liberal evangelicals, smorgasbord Protestants and cafeteria Catholic” who have spent enormous energy “reinterpreting Scripture for out time”. It is these people who mock and excoriate conservative Christians who most faithfully represent the founding ideals of this country and who have remain the most faithful to the original texts of Holy Writ as passed down to us by our “racist, bigoted, sexist, Bible thumping” Christian forebearers. If Jesus were alive today and preaching the Gospel of Repentance, it would be the “liberal Christians” and liberals in general who would be gnashing their teeth and calling Jesus a sexist/racist/homophobic bigot who needs to shut up and simply accept people the way they are and quit talking about God so much.
    Rather ironic how liberal trolls will twist reality to their own eventual destruction, eh? Another demonstration of neverthink’s self-righteousness. Say neverthink, are you a sinner and hypocrite or have you evolved above all that?
    From a book called: Disorder in the American Courts
    ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse?
    WITNESS: No.
    ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure?
    WITNESS: No.
    ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing?
    WITNESS: No.
    ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy?
    WITNESS: No.
    ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor?
    WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar.
    ATTORNEY: I see, but could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless?
    WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.
    It is my guess that the attorney in this story was wearing a Bush/Cheney/04 lapel pin.
    E Pluribus Unum, Latin for “Out of Many, One,” is a motto requested by Pierre Eugene du Simitiere (originally Pierre-Eugène Ducimetière) and found in 1776 on the Seal of the United States, along with Annuit cœptis and Novus ordo seclorum, and adopted by an Act of Congress in 1782.
    Never codified by law, E pluribus unum was considered a de facto motto of the United States until 1956 when the United States Congress passed an act (H.J. Resolution 396), adopting In God We Trust as the official motto.
    In God We Trust is the official national motto of the United States and the U.S. state of Florida. The motto first appeared on a United States coin in 1864, but In God We Trust did not become the official U.S. national motto until after the passage of an Act of Congress in 1956.
Either pay off all our mortgages with a “homeowners bailout” or force the mortgage industry to renegotiate all our mortgages at a lower rate or do it for no one. The latter is preferable.     Although the passage is written to the Nation of Israel and not written to America, Great Britain, or other nations of this earth, the principles and truths apply to everyone. We are called to be salt and light to everyone we can in this life. Attempting to maintain laws based on the morality of God is not forcing our beliefs on our fellow citizens. God has the same standards for all men, and requires of every man the same things. Stressing the need for obedience to God’s Word is not legalism, and no one here is attempting to force anyone to convert to their system of beliefs. Shall we hold our peace and sit idly by as our fellow citizens take the path of destruction?
    Alinsky would be pleased with the way you have played the Christian to dishearten your enemies, but you cannot achieve your goals here.     Having gone to the link you provided and another one from the comment section of that blog, I still can’t say that I have an informed opinion of Pastor Hunter. I would say, however, that whenever the world (system)seems to love a professed evangelical christian, warning bells go off in my head. Please understand me… I am not necessarily saying that as a criticism of Pastor Hunter, I am merely reflecting on the fact that of the rock solid bible teachers that I am familar with, few if any, would win a popularity contest. Most are despised (by the world) because of the condemnation (perhaps not the best word, or the word I’m looking for) that their preaching raises in unbeliever’s hearts as their consciences are pricked.
    His benediction was innocuous enough though mildly political, unsurprisingly, since it was given at a political convention. I was appalled, however, at the way he ended his prayer. His attempt at inclusion at the expense of the truth will do nothing except to cause people to question whether he truly is an evangelical and seemed to be little more than a nod to political correctness. You often ask WWJD? I would ask, WWJT (Think)? I don’t think HE would have been pleased.
    Just my opinion.
    Regards,
    ps - The week after the election the pastor of my church prayed for the President elect. He prayed that when Obama took the reins of power, that his decisions would be consistent with God’s will and that if/when they weren’t, that God would gently override them. That is my prayer also.
    it’s pride thrives on its attention.
    Psalm 59:12
    For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.
    Proverbs 8:13
    The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
    Proverbs 13:10
    Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
    And finally…
    Mark 7:21-23 (King James Version)
    21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
    22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
    23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
    More on it’s pride:
    Psalm 31:18
    Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
    Psalm 101:5
    Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.
    Psalm 119:78
    Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
    Look, there is that verse again -
    Proverbs 6:17
    A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
    Proverbs 21:4
    An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
    Proverbs 28:25
    He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
    And finally:
    1 Timothy 6:4
    He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
    The economic stimulus signed by President Barack Obama will spread billions of dollars across the country to spruce up aging roads and bridges. But there’s not a dime specifically dedicated to fixing leftover damage from Hurricane Katrina.
    Egospeak,
    “I would say, however, that whenever the world (system)seems to love a professed evangelical christian, warning bells go off in my head.”
    I have seen others here express a similar observation, or opinion.
    But, five thousand people gathered to hear Jesus when He fed the multitude, and the Beatitudes were hardly “Hell Fire and Brimstone”.
    What of the popularity of Billy Graham? Then there was Billy Sunday, and D. L. Moody they spoke only to live audiences.
    Years ago I read a biography of D. L. Moody by R. A. Torrey. In it he tells of the great increase in the following of Moody after he heard an English evangelist (whose name has escaped me) preach the love of Christ, and changed his own message from a fearful gospel to one of love.
    Moody:
    “If I thought I had a drop of denominational blood in my body, I would open a vein to let it out”.
    “No unholy hands have ever been laid on my unholy head”.
    He was a shoe salesman, did you know? R.A. Torrey his great friend, however, who held a Th.D respected his bible scholarship greatly.
    By the way, Joel Hunter began his ministry in the United Methodist Church. I should also tell you I admire him. But, then I once admired a Baptist Pastor who left his wife for the church organist.
    Then, he became my friend. I decided the Lord didn’t need any help from me in this matter, but my friend might.
    Newsman,
    “How does God and all this Bible speaking in tongues relate to politics and satire ??”
    These are the “Religious Right”. Religion is at the core of the politics of most here.
    Look at Darth, will you? It’s like he has a “Honey Wagon”. He runs all over filling it up, then rushes back here, where he dumps it for his friends to throw.
    Perversely funny, isn’t it?
    Re: 169
    I spoke of popularity with the world “system” not popularity with individual people, whether it is many or few.
    It was probably closer to 20,000 when you include women and children. While not fire and brimstone in the manner that we would understand, it was a not so subtle indictment of the Pharisees and their religion. It was not a message of gooey love, ie: “I love , you love me , we’re a happy family.” It was a message of what the requirements were for those who would be in God’s kingdom.
    You will note that any preacher who waters down the Gospel message will see his popularity increase in the world. Joel Osteen is a perfect example and he is pretty much a heretic.
    Jeusu spoke of hell more than any other person in scripture. It is part and parcel with the message of salvation. What are we being saved from?
    I fail to see the point of Moody’s condemnation of denominationalism. What was your point in including it? What was the point of the quote about ‘No unholy hands have ever been laid on my unholy head’????
    Yes I was aware that Moody was a shoe salesman before he became an evangelist.
    Joel Hunter began his ministry in the United Methodist Church. OK.
    I hope your friend got right with God.
    Regards,
    et #169,
    I greatly admire R.A. Torrey. I only have one of his books, What the Bible Teaches, but it’s a great reference.
    30 days now and still things haven’t fully recovered. Time to impeach this one and give McCain a chance. I’m certain that he’d have had this all cleared up by now.
    There, I said it…
    Re: 171
    Small correction to the second paragraph third line. It should read: “It was not a message of gooey love, ie: ‘I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family’.”
    “It was not a message of gooey love, ie: “I love , you love me , we’re a happy family.”
    OK, let’s go with that! I believe the gospel is much closer to that than your second part below. That would be a love with some limitations on “gooey”. Agape, not Eros! But remember: “Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you.” Romans 16:16.
    “It was a message of what the requirements were for those who would be in God’s kingdom.”
    Sorry, my friend, I have some very serious concerns about this part. I expect no harvest from an “unplanted” field, but I hope I am ” … ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
    I think the Lord Jesus was not “on” the Pharisees because they did not keep the law, but because they had lost sight of it’s Spirit, and they enjoyed “lording over” others.
    I discern this same problem among many fundamentalists.
    In one of my greatest trials I sought the counsel of a minister in a distant city. His conclusion was the one I feared, but he offered his opinion reluctantly, and made it sound more like a suggestion. Then as I got up to leave he said to me: “One more thing!” He then stood and walked over to me, embraced me and kissed me on the cheek! That must have been about thirty years ago, but I will never forget that kindly old grandfather in Christ. Is that the “gooey” love you’re talking about? Well, that the love I mean.
    I grew up as a Baptist, I was allowed in their pulpit. I have many wonderful memories of kind hearts and gentle Baptist people, but!
    Times had changed everybody is a “closer”, everybody hammers scripture, conditions, requirements and rules while their fellows stand by nodding Amen!
    They warn and hammer, a gentle and inoffensive message, a message of love and compassion.
    Christ never did that with “sinners”, but he used the scriptures, and the Spirit of the Law, harshly against thsoe religious leaders who were too far from “gooey”.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Hawkeye, Moody and Torrey seemed like such an odd pair, they truly loved each other (no Eros “gooey” implied). Moody seemed to have an inferiority thing when it came to Torry’s education, while Torrey stood almost in awe in Moody’s “gift”. No man ever had a more faithful friend than Torrey. Have you read of Moody’s last train ride on “The Messenger of Peace”.

    (What hippy name!)

    Egospeak,

    “Jeusu spoke of hell more than any other person in scripture. It is part and parcel with the message of salvation.”

    Really, but His message was about more than “fire insurance”. Wasn’t it?

    What did his disciples know of hell? Jesus understood it thoroughly. Would you say that was His central message?

    “What are we being saved from?”

    Many things in this world, and one in the next.

    I fail to see the point of Moody’s condemnation of denominationalism. What was your point in including it? What was the point of the quote about ‘No unholy hands have ever been laid on my unholy head’????

    This seems contentious; at worst I wandered, perhaps I mused. Perhaps something else.

    Lighten up some on the question marks, and the demanding tone will you?

    “Yes I was aware that Moody was a shoe salesman before he became an evangelist.”

    Unusual, given his statue, I thought.

    “Joel Hunter began his ministry in the United Methodist Church. OK.”

    Sorry, I thought it interesting.

    “I hope your friend got right with God.”

    Egospeak, I hope so too; but I did not require his repentance in my presence. He is God’s child, He will chasten him.

    He left his ministry, went to a Medical School in Latin America, and become a Psychiatrist. I hope that’s not more than you wanted to know.
