[SNN] Obama’s Muslim TV Interview Sets New Tone

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 110 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

President Barack Obama chose al-Arabiya to grant his first full interview as president of the United States, trying to repair the damage done by his predecessor’s efforts to free 25 million Iraqis from dictatorship and terrorism. The president snubbed CNN, MSNBC, FoxNews, ABC, CBS, PBS and even SNN, according to a White House spokesman because he wanted to talk directly to the Arab world, without the filter of a network that’s just a tool of the imperialistic Zionist American regime. Tonight, SNN brings you an in-depth analysis of this historic interview.

    Bravo! Scott. You nailed it!

I guess Al just isn't under Barkey's spell yet….and can't we get a teleprompter in there…all those aahhhs and uuuhhhs are distracting!

  • 3 Left Coast-Right Min // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:00 am

Thank goodness for the pause button…I had to use it a few times so I could laugh (or was that cry?) out loud and not miss the next laser-like beam of Mr. Ott's satirical brilliance.

After that 'powerful' performance from President Barack H-word Obama, the islamofascists must really be wetting their pants and re-thinking their plans for world domination under Sharia Law. I can see them now, sitting in their respective caves, stroking their respective beards and saying to themselves, "Allah help me, but this Obama guy seems alright. In fact I might just want to sit down and have a beer with him."

Has Osama bin Laden given himself up yet? How could he not after hearing such a persuasive argument, from such a fine orator? Days from now, a bin Laden tape will surface in which he refers to President Barack H-word Obama as "that jug eared doofus" and then the Democrats will really get upset. "Helping mastermind the attacks of September 11th 2001, which murdered 3,000 Americans, is bad enough. But now he has insulted our President! This is the last straw!"

  • 4 RepublicanAttackMach // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:15 am

    Very good Scott!!!

Hey "OBOMBites, didn't we warn you "Hussein" was a Muslim? Let the beheadings begin. ;-)

  • 5 onlineanalyst // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:21 am

    Excellent work, Scott!

That baby in the luggage bin heading toward pre-flight X-ray scrutiny was a priceless skewering of Obama's ridiculous equivalencies between our nation's aims and those of jihadis.

It's just a guess, but I think that the Muslim call to prayer is a sweeter sound to Obama than is our national anthem.

  • 6 Darthmeister // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:35 am

An emerging concept in the universe of the PC liberal: Democratic Dhimmitude - coming to a mutual understanding with and respect for Islamic fundamentalists while trashing those devout individuals who remain faithful to the fundamental teachings of the founding religion of America.

From former liberal CBS journalist Bernard Goldberg: A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (And Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.

Clearly there is no longer (and there really hasn't been the last twenty or so years) a truly independent, unbiased national media thanks to the unprofessional "journalists" who now inhabit the fourth estate. Free Americans are indeed in danger of losing our republic.

  • 7 upnorthlurkin // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:43 am

From the last thread, OLA - those Republican ammendments sound too radical….not! You know the dhimmis know tax cuts would help stimulate the economy (as would "Drill here, drill now) and their ignoring them (tax cuts) just proves they don't want to pull out of this recession….they see an opportunity for more power for Democrats if they see to it more people are hurting.

A significant credential in determining the new RNC chair is apparently who hates Bush the worst. Oh, what a legacy he has left. History is not starting out judging him kindly.

If I voted for him even once I think I would feel compelled to apologize. But jeez can you believe there were people out there blind enough to vote for him twice. Sorry they're common sense visa has been revoked. :)

  • 9 BlackLion31U // Jan 28, 2009 at 8:59 am

    RAM #5,

I'll take the muslim. There is no way he can do more damage than the terrorist that last held that office.

  • 10 RepublicanAttackMach // Jan 28, 2009 at 9:13 am

BL31U: re#9: Way to "change the subject", instead of addressing the subject at hand!

Then again, if I was you I would probably do the same since, there really is no LOGICAL excuse for THIS President who cares more what Muslims and Arabs think of him, than he does the AMERICANS he swore an oath to "SERVE and PROTECT"!

I will take GWB ANYDAY! He kept my family and fellow Americans safe since 9/11.

With OBOMBa, I fear we will be attacked ANYDAY, and NOTHING will be done about it, except for libs to say, "It only happened because of the policies of Bush"!

  • 11 RepublicanAttackMach // Jan 28, 2009 at 9:16 am

    BL31U said: RAM #5,

I’ll take the muslim. There is no way he can do more damage than the terrorist that last held that office.

IF, you really believe there is no way Obama can do more damage than Bush, I feel sorry for your family and loved ones!

    I am NOT joking!

    GOD help you!

  • 12 RepublicanAttackMach // Jan 28, 2009 at 9:30 am

MKK: I hope your Dad is doing better!

Off topic: Sometime during the night, my home was turned in an Igloo!

Must have something to do with Al Gore's "Global Warming" I guess.

Meanwhile, while our PRESENTdent is cozying up to our enemies, "Bubba" Clinton's influence on Bush #41 is turning him into a raunchy comic.

Funny how the story I saw about Clinton and Bush 41, was a bigger story than OBOMBA selling out to America's enemies.

  • 13 Darthmeister // Jan 28, 2009 at 9:34 am

Hmmmm. Here's another liberal "I'm rubber, you're glue" moment. Apparently some Donks are accusing conservative dissenters that they suffer from an "Obama Derangement Syndrome." Well, there may indeed be such a psychological condition but I think those glib leftist copycats need to first look in the mirror themselves. If there is an "Obama Derangement Syndrome" it's with those Obamatons who believe Barry Obama is too perfect to mock.

Under Democratic rules groups like ACORN are eligible for billions of dollars in "stimulus money".

I guess this is a not too subtle payback for a job well done … not that $680 million in and of itself wasn't enough to buy a presidency.

BTW, lest some troll gets huffy and self-righteous, the canard about Republicans buying past elections with far, far less money is a well-documented accusation made by liberals. It's only FAIR we now make use of the same complaint to show what utter hypocrites liberals are when its their ox being gored.

My natural gas bill doubled from last year because the average temperature is 9° colder than the same period a year ago. (And no, the price per therm has not doubled….it's lower too.)

And for the commie kitty - 50,000,000 liberated Muslims disagree with your assertion. And obviously President Bush cared more about your safety and mine than your popularity contests.

  • 15 everthink // Jan 28, 2009 at 9:57 am

"I will take GWB ANYDAY! He kept my family and fellow Americans safe since 9/11."

Make that: He kept my family and fellow Americans safe EXCEPT for 911.

    Who's job was it then?

Actually, 4236 Americans have been killed, and 30984 wounded in Iraq since 911. They too are Americans!!!

They died to expand Iranian influence in Iraq.

I am eating up the bandwidth with a aquib from VDH because the thread topic is Obama's interview.

The Obama Interview [Victor Davis Hanson]

The problem with Obama's Al Arabiya interview (which I wrote about at length elsewhere):

    1) It is never wise to contrast negatively American efforts in the region ("dictating") with those of a Saudi monarch ("courageous")—one could in theory draw the conclusion that the unelected head of a theocratic autocracy was portrayed more favorably than the U.S. State Department ("the United States").

    2) There is no reason to be apologetic about past U.S. policy or to question recent generic bipartisan initiatives. Worse still, Obama offers little mention that the U.S. in fact has a far better record toward Muslims than does a Europe, China, Russia, etc. (cf. freeing Kuwait, giving help to the Somalis, bombing European Christians to save Balkan Muslims, billions in aid to the Jordanians, Egyptians, and Palestinians, fostering democracy in Afghanistan and Iraq, tsunami relief, liberal immigration policy, lectures to Russia about its horrific treatment of Chechnya, helping to get the Soviets out of Afghanistan, etc). The problem with the Muslim Middle East transcends what we do, and its pathologies—statism, autocracy, religious intolerance, gender apartheid, tribalism, lack of human rights, and constitutional government—are mostly self-inflicted, rather than the result of American insensitivity. If there is no need for a president to mention all of these obvious and embarrasing problems, then in the same manner there is no need to apologize for U.S. policy.

    3) We are now confused about the rules of evocation of Obama's multicultural identities: during the campaign many learned it was quite illiberal to mention his middle name, his Muslim father, his exotic Indonesian connection, etc. To do so was to suggest that he was perhaps somehow less genuine or properly traditional than the typical square American (although those rules were adjudicated by Obama himself who often drew on "difference" when politically advantageous). But now he seems to be telling the Arab world that they can relate to him, by virtue of his unique identity, in ways they have not with a more stereotyped American president. (Do we wish to go there—as if an Asian president might better connect with Japan or a Swedish-American with Sweden?)

    4) We understand this logic that our president can, in Zen-fashion, confound the radical Islamists in a way a drawling Texan cannot. But this is a morass I don't think a commander-in-chief wishes to venture into, since for too many, in the way the interview went, it almost implies something like: "Trust me and just watch—by distancing myself from your past policy, your past Presidents, and indeed in some sense from many of you too, I can better represent you abroad."

This may be clever (but not as clever as many in the Middle East who are savvy to it), but it is unwise and dangerous for a President to try such a gambit.

    5) I'll skip the utopian talk about Iran and the Middle East since nothing new was advanced among the rhetorical flourishes, and such a technique of saintly rhetoric and earthly stasis is now well-known.

Here is a wonderful story about the "peaceful" Islamic religion that fits in well with this story:

Here is my offer to you everstink: I will agree that 9/11 was/is GWB's fault, IF, you will blame ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that happens during OBOMBA's reign as being his fault.

My bet is libs like you, (kooky, far left, wing-nuts), want it both ways.

  • 22 gafisher // Jan 28, 2009 at 11:06 am

RAM Re#20, no sane, honest person could say 9/11 was GWB's fault, but once it happened he accepted it as his responsibility, dealt with it accordingly and responded in a way which inspired the world.

    .

800 Billion in bailouts, and no Damocrat is asking "how we going to pay for it?" Add to that, another 300 Billion, and our grandkids are going to be saddled with $1.3TRILLION in Obamadebt. Got change?

    Re: #22

It's not that Obama doesn't have any position, he has all positions. He just pulls out whichever one is the most politically expedient at the time and goes with it. What's the U.S. Constitution say about chameleons holding the Presidency?

    Re: #23

Sure they could. Just like the Khobar Towers, the USS Cole, the Tanzanian and Kenyan Embassies and the 1993 World Trade Center bombings were all Bush's fault (41, 43…doesn't matter). He ignored those warnings, because he, Cheney and Rove wanted a war for oil. And after they traveled back in time to get Carter to sign the CRA, so that Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae would eventually collapse and cause the American economy to implode, Halliburton and Wal-mart would rule the world. What's so difficult to believe about that?

  • 27 MajorDomo // Jan 28, 2009 at 11:25 am

The office of Leaky Lee confided today that President Empty Suit is proposing another grand bailout. Reputed to be five trillion, this one will bail out the entire U.S. against Muslim terrorists for four years. Democrats applauded the move as "forward-looking"

  • 28 Darthmeister // Jan 28, 2009 at 11:26 am

Hartford, CT Mayor Eddie Perez joins three fellow Democratic mayors recently caught in scandal. Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon was indicted Jan. 9, 2009, by a grand jury on 12 counts, including perjury, theft and misconduct in office. Racine Mayor Gary Becker was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement and possession of child pornography. Portland Mayor Sam Adams, the first openly gay mayor from a major American city, admitted last week that he had sexual relations with a teen intern.

Given Illinois Democrat Governor Rod Blagoyevich's impeachment, Democrat Charlie Rangel's ongoing tax evasion and corruption investigation, NY Democrat AG Eliot Spitzer's indictment, and Louisiana Democrat William Jefferson's dirty money, it would probably be fair to say that 150 years of Democrat corruption is coming home to roost in the latest display of their culture of corruption … and the national socialist media continues to go out of its way to soften that reality.

This culture of corruption, which even extends into the news media appartus itself, explains why, for example, the Harry Reid real estate debacle and his known links to Abramoff have been strategically ignored by the national socialist media as well as lobbyist scandals which surround the likes of Democratic Reps. Norm Dicks of Washington, Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, James E. Clyburn of South Carolina and Neil Abercrombie of Hawaii, all of whom accepted travel paid for by lobbyists. Thompson and Clyburn were also linked to Jack Abramoff but weren't pursued by the liberal media since it didn't fit their narrative of a Republican "culture of corruption".

While Democrats' often excuse their corruption with excuses about "technicalities" or "innocent financial disclosure oversights", they call for full-scale investigations - aided and abetted by a media feeding frenzy - when Republicans engage in the same behavior as Democrats. This is why after having committed the same "crimes" as Republican Tom DeLay, Democrat Nancy Pelosi escapes hostile news coverage and an indictment while Tom DeLay doesn't. In fact she is eventually rewarded for her "honest mistake" schtick with the Speaker of the House post.

BTW, in Hartford Courant's original story the reporter/editor did not identify Mr. Perez's party affiliation. In a subsequent "long story", the Courant was able to correctly identify Mr. Perez's party affiliation in the thirteen paragraph. Who wants to bet if this guy had been a Republican it would have been mentioned in the first paragraph of the first story and as frequently as possible.

Major Domo, how does the US/Jihadist bailout exactly work? Is it more of a temporary cease-and-desist bribe while the Donks are in power?

Scott. Another outstanding "news" videoclip, btw. You ever think of taking a page from SNL's Chevy Chase with: "I'm Scott Ott … and you're not."

BTW, Obama didn't plow any new ground (other than to apologize for America protecting freedom here and abroad) regarding Islam largely being a "religion of pieces peace". George W. made virtually the identical statements of wanting to work with the remnant of peace-loving Muslims by engaging in a mutually beneficial relationship based on mutual interests and most importantly, expanding the ideals of freedom.

You have a point there. But you're assuming that our definitions of "sane" and "honest" are valid, when in 'reality' they have automatically been declared null and void by those who have granted themselves the sole authority to define what words mean (e.g. appeasement = victory). Neat how that works, wouldn't you say?

He is OK with that, it helps that his grandson works there as a Physical Therapist. I still haven’t got a good assessment of the damage or any kind of prognosis, just the details as to what is next. This situation reminds me a little about the 1996 sci-fi movie Independence Day. In one scene, a captured alien uses some sort of telepathic ability to communicate with the President (played by Bill Pullman). The President character asks the alien what we (humans) needed to do for there to be peace, to which the alien responds, “Die.”. In response, the President orders nearby Secret Service and military personnel to open fire on the alien and kill it.

President Barack H-word Obama is now in charge of the American response to international terrorism. Every time the terrorists have been asked what the rest of the world would need to do for there to be peace, the answer has been “Die.”. So far, Obama’s apparent response has been, “Okay, that sounds fair.”.

Vote is in on the stimulus stick-it-to-us bill from the House. It passed (244-188), but not a single Republican voted for it (and 11 Democrats voted against it. Hope the seats of their britches are Pelosi-proofed). Now if only they can lend their spines to the Senate Republicans for their up-coming vote.

Not that it would matter, if even one Republican Senator votes for the bill, it’ll be called ‘bi-partisan’.

Oh, and the supposed expansion of health care in this pork bill? Not so much…

“The stimulus legislation would create a council for Comparative Effectiveness Research. This is about medicine but not about healing the economy. The CER would identify (this is language from the draft report on the legislation) medical “items, procedures, and interventions” that it deems insufficiently effective or excessively expensive. They “will no longer be prescribed” by federal health programs. The next secretary of health and human services, Tom Daschle, has advocated a “Federal Health Board” similar to the CER, whose recommendations “would have teeth”: Congress could restrict the tax exclusion for private health insurance to “insurance that complies with the Board’s recommendation.” The CER, which would dramatically advance government control — and rationing — of health care, should be thoroughly debated, not stealthily created in the name of “stimulus.”‘

If this is Obama’s answer to make sure everybody gets taken care of, (even if they are too lazy to get off their butts until the last minute), maybe we should start moving tax day back from April 15th?

Will Wm Jefferson ever get his “frozen assets” back?

Will Nancy Pelosi’s plastic surgeon get the next shipment of “Bondo” body putty in time for her next “Red dress” fitting?

Invited are six House Democrats, six House Republicans, six Senate Democrats and six Senate Republicans, their spouses are invited as well.

Hors d’ oeuvres - chicken curry - wagyu steak will be served in addition to drinks.

Well, poor little old farm boy me, I’d never heard of wagyu steak and no wonder, I looked it up to learn that wagyu steak runs from $100.00 per pound for medium quality wagyu to over $200.00 per pound for the ‘top of the line’ wagyu. (I feel certain they didn’t serve the medium quality)

Only the best for the Obamanation’s table, eh?

Neverthink: “You have lifted up the shrine of your king, the pedestal of your idol, the star of your god - which you have made for yourselves. Therefore, I will send you into exile beyond Damscus says the Lord, whose name is God Almighty.” Amos 5:26-27

You have placed your faith in a man - your king. We understand that he is just a man whom God has allowed to be established for a time. But make no mistake, God says, “…the Most High is sovereign over the kingdoms of men and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of men.” Daniel 4:17 and “He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he lows on them and they wither and whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.” Isaiah 40:23

Your king’s plans are so against the Lord’s that it is scary for him and for us. “Then confront them with their detestable practices, for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They commited adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them. They have done this to me: At that same time they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths. On the very day they sacrified their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it.” Ezekiel 24:8

“They built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin. Jer 32:35

Do you not understand that your king has exported and condoned the sacrifice of children to the altar of Molech: convenience, population control, ect and ect? They are burned in the fires of the abortion clinic incinerators. And God says that it didn’t even enter his mind that such a horrible thing could occur. If that does not make you quake, then you are callous indeed and your conscience is totally seared. In that case, there is nothing to be done and you might as well worship your king with your tingly legs.

  • 94 conserve-a-tip // Jan 30, 2009 at 9:44 am

And to Neverthink: There will come a day when the Lord will ask you sarcastically, “Where is your king that he may save you? Where are your rulers in all your towns, of whom you said, “Give me a king and princes”? So in my anger I gave you a king and in my wrath I took him away. “

You’ve been warned. Seek God’s face and forget this man who is only here for a little while.

In the al Arabiya interview, Mr. Hussein-Obama waxes nostalgic over the “… respect and partnership that America had with the Muslim world as recently as 20 or 30 years ago.”

Journalist Amir Tahiri points out that “Thirty years ago, Obama was a teenager in Indonesia. Vice President Joseph Biden, however, was already a senator and a champion of President Jimmy Carter’s strategic retreat.” He then reviews the “idyllic” conditions which prevailed at the time:

    1. US diplomats were hostages in Tehran
    2. Saddam Hussein was beginning an 8-year war with Iran which cost over a million lives
    3. Mecca was under siege by the nascent al Qaeda
    4. Syria was threatening Lebanon
    5. Anwar Sadat was assassinated by radical Islamists
    6. The US Ambassador to Sudan was murdered

There’s much more in Tahari’s article [here] to make anyone — not just the Muslim radicals who have already done so — seriously question whether the new US President has any understanding whatsoever of the issues which face him and western civilization.
