Obama Puts Clinton Vets on Team, Overlooks Hillary

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 16 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-11-06) — As he prepares for his move to the White House, President-elect Barack Obama has already named two vigorous Democrat partisans to his team — Rep. Rahm Emanuel as chief of staff and John Podesta to lead the transition. However, insiders say he has not even vetted the most aggressively-partisan Democrat for a post for which she is “eminently qualified” — Hillary Clinton for First Lady.

“He’s overlooking her again,” said one admittedly-embittered Clinton associate. “She’s the only Democrat with actual experience as First Lady. It’s a no-brainer, and he just ignores her.”

The source said that when it comes to the First Lady post, “He’s digging in his heels. All he talks about is Michelle, Michelle, Michelle. But she’s an absolute rookie — untested, nothing on the resume. She’s just not ready.”

Rep. Emanuel served as chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2005, and as senior advisor to President Bill Clinton from 1993 to 1998, while Mr. Podesta was President Clinton’s chief of staff from 1998 to 2001. They’ll lead Mr. Obama’s NPTF (New Politics Task Force), fulfilling his promise to assemble a bipartisan administration that rises above old-fashioned politics-as-usual.

“She’s the only Democrat with actual experience as First Lady. It’s a no-brainer, and he just ignores her.”

If the Democrats wanted “experience”, they would have nominated Hillary. If the American people wanted “experience”, they would have elected McCain.

Apparently, “experience” is a very over-rated commodity these days. Nothing compares to “hope” and “change”.

I’m willing to bet however, the “change” they “hoped” for ain’t in the cards. Stay tuned…

Almost seems like a Clark-and-Superman moment: Messiah and Emmanuel together, ensuring a Podesta-ny.

It is a no brainer. OB1 doesn’t want Hillary around because it hurts when you get hit by an ashtray or lamp.

    “Nuff said

And, oh yes, Scott, thanks for the heads, er hearts up on the last post. “Trolls,” get on my nerves, but when I see their names on the heading, I just move on. Saves time and saves on blood pressure medicine.

I did enough one one one highly excitable discussions before the elections, so now my next workout will be to get Sarah on the ticket in 2012. My body will older and unless they find a cure, a little weaker-but it is not about me, but the generations to come

One thing that Obama has already accomplished…that I’m actually happy about: no more Clintons in the White House. :-)

… no more Clintons in the White House.

Don’t count on it. Bill’s first interview after the election included a carefully crafted setup for an Obama fall while distancing himself and Hillary from it. And there’s still Chelsea …

Ms RW, Ink Re: “… my next workout will be to get Sarah on the ticket in 2012.

I donated to Republicans but not to McCain until he took Gov. Palin on board; then I donated to THEIR (not his) Campaign. He was in a tailspin until she came almost literally out of nowhere and energized the base, at times in spite of McCain’s incompetent campaigning. And now some have the audacity to blame HER for McCain’s loss! I’d like to ask for my money back.

gafisher, you donated to McCain?! Whoa! How’s that Enron stock workin’ out fer ya?

  • 11 mig // Nov 6, 2008 at 1:15 pm

McCain really should work for Obamas’ Press Secretary. He protected Obama from the Republican Party the entire campaign. And McCain is so good at working with Democrates.

JCM Re#10: Yes, I gave. To some degree I regret it, especially because I don’t own any stock, Enron or otherwise — actually, my wife and I live on a very precarious budget — but I honestly believed in my Party as much as I presume you did in yours.

So far two former Clinton appointees….so much for change….I wonder how long the aahhh-one will be content just being president (of a soon to be third world country) and starts campaigning for King of the World or god….?

Ruth Buzzy Ginsburg is keeping her SCOTUS seat warm for Hillary. Bechtel was just called in to widen it, too.

And can you say “UN Secretary-General Bill Clinton?”

Bringing back the Clinton adminstration? I can’t help but notice the google ads in the center column of this web site - all of them are about Obama, like “Barack Obama has an IQ of 138″ really? with all of those ums and ahhs and long hesitations in his speaking when not reading or mis-reading from a script I sincerely doubt that. Another ad reads “Obama said the U.S. crisis is top priority” well, duh - it takes an IQ of 138 to figure that one out?

Is it even possible to have a high IQ after spending years of snorting cocaine and smoking pot? I’ve recently read a medical article describing the negative effects on the brain due to drug use during a person’s teenage and early 20’s years are much worse than previously thought.
I was wondering what level of crime his drug use was and I got my answer from on high (dish tv) on the show COPS which happened to be on. They arrested a fellow who was high on cocaine and told him that he was being charged with a felony for being under the influence of a controled substance in public (they couldn’t find any drugs on him at the time). That takes away your right to vote, yet here we have a fellow who has openly admitted to possession as well as use and he elected president?
The new Democrat mantra - do what you want just don’t get caught. It has been their secret mantra for a long time now, it is just getting more difficult for them to hide it.

Dare we take satire to the levels that have been thrown at President Bush? I remember seeing photos of President Bush that morphed him into a chimpanzee - try doing that with Obama and guess what? Like another favorite blogger of mine says - raaaaaaaaaaaaacist.
