Obama Campain Calls Joe the Plumber Mythical

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 67 Comments

(2008-10-17) — A viral video of an alleged ‘plumber’ talking to Barack Obama which inspired last night’s game-changing debate performance by Sen. John McCain is “a fake,” according to an unnamed strategist working for the Obama for America campaign.

Joe ‘The Plumber’ Wurzelbacher, of Holland, Ohio, “is a fictional, mythical character made up out of whole cloth by the Republicans,” the Democrat insider said.

“When we saw a middle-class guy, a common tradesman, who can articulate conservative values and principles off-the-cuff, without being intimidated by the awe-inspiring presence of the world’s most powerful man, we smelled a rat,” the source said. “Not to mention the fact that he’s living in one of those middle states where there’s no chance of him meeting the kind of intellectuals who could train him to speak intelligibly.”

The Democrat strategist noted that, “The legend has grown so big that McCain’s soon going to tell us that the Ohio river valley was created one day when a work-weary Joe the Plumber dragged his giant pipe wrench home carving a ravine in the rich Ohio soil. I can’t wait to see pictures of his pet… no doubt an immense red pit bull.”

“Face it,” he said, “Men like Joe don’t exist. The vast majority of American workers, isolated from the coastal centers of culture and education, are hapless victims of corporate greed who look to Washington as their last best hope. American journalists didn’t believe the legend of Sarah Palin, they’re not going to fall for this ploy.”

Scott left out one detail: the pit bull’s name was “Babe”. I think the mythical part is obvious: Joe was able to connect the proposed policies of Obama with his own household. Now that is mythical.

Wonder why Obama is in the lead? Check out this link: http://www.bpmdeejays.com/upload/hs_sal_in_Harlem_100108.mp3

    Just Ranting,

    My response from the last thread in case you missed it;

I notice you’ve excluded the “many others who have sacrificed” from you comment this time.

As I said before, I AM one of those “many others” you refer to. I’ve actually paid for my freedom of expression and yours.

    Once again, you are welcome.

  • 3 Shelly // Oct 16, 2008 at 4:04 pm

At least he didn’t fall back on Joe the Plumber not being “the Joe he knew” as he’s done so many times before.

I’d bet he wishes those alliances could be brushed off as mythical, too.

  • 4 Just Ranting // Oct 16, 2008 at 4:24 pm

    I knew Joe the Plumber.

Joe the Plumber was a friend of mine.
You, Mr Obama, are no Joe the Plumber.

    Intelligibly?

Well, now… Liberals are learning that there are REAL PEOPLE out there! Actual people who can think! What a shock it must be. Imagine someone in an interview who doesn’t “feel” thus and so.

Joe demonstrates the embodiment of the American Spirit that built this country before “community organizers” began looting it. That’s no myth, Senator Obama, but it doesn’t live in the temples of Washington, not even the fake temples at Invesco Field. The American Spirit lives in modest homes and in small businesses, in military tents, in small towns and flyover states. And some say she’s been seen recently at Wal*Mart, the future cradled in her arm.

    BlackLion31U

I have no reason to doubt you so, please accept my sincere thanks for your service to our country.

You are, however, the 1st veteran I’ve ever known to mock a fellow veteran’s disablilty.
My father was a veteran and was 100% disabled when he was honorably discharged. He died 13 years later because of his disability. I know the price he and his fellow vets, and their families made first hand.

Had anyone ridiculed him in my presence the way you have done to John McCain they would be walking like a penguin too, but for and entirely different reason.

Disagree with John McCain’s politics as much as you want. That is more than your earned right. But he deserves your respect for the sacrifices he made for us all. And that includes his fellow vets.

He should write to John Kerry and ask if it is too late to put in for a fake Purple Heart for his OBVIOUS brain injury.

The conspiracy-addled left claimed if President Bu$Hitler was re-elected, people who spoke “truth to power” would be viciously attacked … and boy were they right.

Only in this case it’s Joe the Plumber who is getting viciously attacked by the left-wing nuts! I guess they’re raising questions about the legitimacy of his claim to be a plumber, blah, blah, blah. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy! You can’t make this stuff up!

Of course the Obamabots’ vicious attacks don’t change the fact Joe asked a legitimate question and Oblahblah gave an unguarded answer of how he’d like to “spread the wealth around” … excepting his own, of course.

  • 13 Darthmeister // Oct 16, 2008 at 6:58 pm

Sorry, I haven’t been able to keep up with all the posts, but has anyone reported that Secret Service field agents at the McCain-Palin rally where an alleged person allegedly shouted, “Kill him,” at the mention of Obambi’s name?

Well the agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton says there were plenty of Secret Service and FBI agents in the crowd and not a single one heard anyone yell such a thing. Of couse the journalist who claimed he heard the yell still stand by his story. Buwahahahahahahaha, another case of fake but accurate, eh libtard journalist? Besides, who’s to say that wasn’t some Obama plant anyway. Sounds like something the left would do.

Last, but certainly not least, Howard Stein “owned” some Obamabots (audio exists somewhere on YouTube) when one of his people conducted field interviews by putting McCain’s words in Obama’s mouth. It went something like this: Identify and interview Obama supporter. Invariably Obamaton takes the high road and says he/she rejects McCain and embraces Obama solely on their positions on important issues. Interviewer asks that must mean he/she likes Obama’s stand on leaving the troops in Iraq until they win … or … agree with his pro-life views on partial-birth abortions … or … not levying taxes on big business during an economic recession … or … the right of individuals to own and bear firearms of their choice … or … (the real kicker) how Obama advanced women’s rights by picking Sarah Palin who is imminently qualified to be his VP choice! The agreed!

Of course these people are either outright racists who are voting for Obama because of the color of his skin or because he’s a Democrat partisan hack who votes 96% of the time with his party. When you get right down to it, probably in the majority of cases it had nothing … nothing to do with issues or policies. If Bush had been a Democrat, the lefties would have treated him just the way they did when President Clinton, without any UN Resolution or Joint Congressional Resolution unilaterally attacked Bosnia which never attacked America nor had the remotely capability of doing so. I sure don’t remember the anti-war crowd getting their panties up in a bunch over that “policing action”. You can’t make this stuff up!

    Wurzelbacher ?!?

He don’t sound like no bone-feed American to me!

Sounds more like an operative from a Republican sleeper cell - lurking in deep cover since the days of Richard M. Nixon!

    Joe the Plumber, eh?

I read an interesting piece on why Thomas E. Dewey (R) lost the 1948 presidential election to Harry S. Truman (D). At the time I was only eleven years old but I recall it very well. The shock of Dewey’s loss was all anybody talked about. A “guaranteed” win - how could he have lost?

After many years it was decide that Truman won because of a tiny fraction of an ounce of hair. Dewey had a moustache! Women in that day didn’t trust men with a moustache. They saw them as a sinister threat.

Now we are told that B.O.’s got it in the bag, He cannot lose! If and when he does win and the fraudulent votes are challenged in thousands of courtrooms across America and deleted, it might wind up as a clean sweep of all 50 states for McCain/Palin??? Who knows? God knows and the winner will be whoever He has decided to put in charge.

Maybe if Palin was replaced by Joe, the plumber, that would do it?

  • 17 Fred Sinclair // Oct 16, 2008 at 7:41 pm

You can always count on the ‘Drive by’ media to get it right!

Sarah Palin is invited to meet with the Pope while he is vacationing in Venice. The liberal press reluctantly watches the semi-private audience, hoping they will be able to allot minimal coverage, if any. The Pope asks Governor Palin to join him on a Gondola ride through the canals of Venice .

They’re admiring the sights and agreeing on moral issues when, all of a sudden, the Pope’s hat (zucchetto) blows off his head out into the water. The gondolier starts to reach for the Pontiff’s cap with his pole, but this move threatens to overturn the floating craft. Sarah waves the tour guide off, saying, ‘Wait, wait. I’ll take care of this. Don’t worry.’

She steps off the gondola onto the surface of the water, walks out to the Pope’s hat, bends over and picks it up. She walks back across the water to the gondola and steps aboard. She hands the hat to the Pope amid stunned silence.

The next morning the topic of conversation among Democrats in, CBS News, NBC News, ABC News, CNN, the NewYork Times, Hollywood celebrities, and in France and Germany is:

    ‘Palin Can’t Swim.’

Near as I can tell, the only three things that people see in Obama are:
    1.) He is not Bush
2.) He is not a republican.
3.) He promises surrender in Iraq.

They would most likely sell their souls for those three “qualities”.
Well, if he is elected I hope they enjoy what they get. God will take care of his people and we will be alright.
Christ said while hanging on the cross, “forgive them, they know not what they do”. The reason for their ignorance was their ignorance of the Word of God, and therefore, God himself.
The enemies of capitalism are proclaiming it as being dead, and if we lose it, I doubt that the world will see it again. At the rate we are going it will be less than a decade before we see Christians being persecuted similar to the way they are in communist countries.
The warning signs are there, but it is probably best for the duped if they keep their heads in the sand. You cannot be intimate with Jesus Christ and support this pending evil.
God’s people better get on their knees and beg him to spare this nation from going down the path to destruction.

My pastor in Ohio preached a message, “There is an insanity in sin”, I believe this nation is losing its mind.

Public records released in New Mexico today confirm that fraudulent voter registrations are in fact turning into fraudulent votes. ACORN, currently under investigation by the FBI, is now confirmed to be responsible for producing fraudulent voter registrations and illegal votes in New Mexico. An inspection of public records has revealed that illegal votes were cast in New Mexico’s 2008 primary election.
“This is a bombshell. We now have undeniable proof that a significant number of fraudulent voters were cast in Democrat primary races for the New Mexico state legislature as a result of ACORN’s voter registration fraud,” remarked State Representative Justine Fox Young (R-Albuquerque). “No longer can ACORN argue that their phony voter registration forms don’t translate into fraudulent votes. They do and today we can prove it.” …

Hmmmm, this is interesting. Maybe this is how Obama won the Democratic nomination against sHrillary. It’s already well established that Obama’s campaign laundered an $800,000 donation to ACORN this campaign season and Obama is on video record thanking ACORN for their support of his candidacy.

Also, while pimpling the Chicago Annenberg Challenge program, he managed to reroute millions of dollars of the benefactors’ money to ACORN and at an even earlier time Oblahblah trained ACORN workers! This guy is up to his neck in ACORN nuts! And yet the lamestream media refuses to call Obama on his lies about is past associations with ACORN, the last lie occuring last night when Schieffer just took Obummer at his lying word.

So, I guess we can look forward to seeing how ACORN is going to turn out the zombie, pet, and 6 year-old vote in the battleground states this November, that is, those who haven’t already filled out an absentee ballot!

I wonder how many millions are being wasted cleaning up Obama’s ACORN mess?

  • 26 Darthmeister // Oct 16, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Isn’t it interesting how Joe the Plumber has come under more media scrutiny in 48 hours than Oblahblah has in the last two years?

Well, it seems that way. I wonder if we’ll find out if his wife has had a hysterectomy or what his cholesterol and PSA count were the last time they were checked? We might even find out his father belonged to the local Moose lodge the last twenty years. Yep, that fact would certainly delegitimize any question he may have asked of Oblahblah.

First, they came for Hillary. Then her supporters and PUMAs. Secondly, they went for Sarah Palin and her family.

You can rationalize that Hillary and Sarah are running for higher office, PUMAs political activists.

But now they are after Joe the Plumber. We now know way more about Joe Wurzelbacher in 24 hrs than the dem presidential candidate in two whole years.

For what? A concerned private citizen, who has equal voting right just like you and me, asked a presidential candidate a question media and the left never mouthed.

Let’s face it. The exchange has nothing to do with Joe Plumber the person, it has everything to do with Obama’s revealing answer in an unscripted moment caught on camera.

Yesterday, both Obama and Biden mocked McCain and Joe the Plumber. Their surrogates went digging everything up on Mr. Wurzelbacher’s background. They have crossed the thin red line.

This can only be seen or believed in the old Soviet Union or Hugo Chavez’s thugocracy, never in US. Or so I thought.

There is this spontaneous “Spartacus” movement (on HotAir.com). If you are concerned, each one of us should stand up and announce that “I AM Joe the Plumber”. And if you are really concerned, spread this movement around.

Coming up is a “Hot Tip” that should tell everybody where to place their bets on the upcoming election.

Now I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard there is a soon to be released movie titled, “W” keep a sharp eye on the attendance figures.

If they’re very high for the first night and comparatively high for the first weekend. B.O. will win. If the figures are low then figure on a McCain win.

Both sides (from what I’ve heard and read) have armies of literally thousands of lawyers across the nation, ready to blanket America with lawsuits.

Basically, in my personal opinion, the election has very little to do with either McCain or Obama. Rather it’s a straightforward vote on Soros and Socialism vs God and Americanism.

Now since Americanism, with the help and blessings of God, has moved this country from a backward English Colony in a little over a couple of hundred years to the greatest and most powerful nation on earth.

While Socialism in other countries, some with multiple thousands of years of history, have these countries with their citizens in some cases risking and often losing their very lives to get into this country of America.

Josh. 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Simple election; Soros and Socialism or God and Americanism.

My Dearest Editor Scott- With all due respect to you, I beg to differ on what is conspiracy and what isn’t. This is currently in court. I was born at the hospital that Obama claims to have been born at and I had no problem receiving my birth certificate 30 years after my birth. So it may or may not be conspiracy but I think that Obama’s truthfulness on so many issues would also include citizenship.

[Editor's Note: While the Senator and his campaign staff might have been more forthcoming about many issues, his failure or reluctance to produce what Mr. Berg's lawsuit demands to the satisfaction of all who wish to see Sen. Obama defeated, does not constitute his failure to meet the constitutional requirements for office. If Mr. Berg should prevail in the case (or if someone else should produce definitive documentation of his alien birth), then one would have grounds for challenging Sen. Obama's qualifications. Accusations and evidence (even in court) are not tantamount to proof. The previous 'Editor's Note' was merely an effort to restore civility and focus to an area of public discourse from which both have gone absent. Despite the fact that Sen. Obama managed to achieve his lofty political perch through force-of-attorney in getting his opponents scrubbed from ballots (and the good fortune of having a carpetbagging Alan Keyes run against him), Conservatives have better approaches available to them if they wish to challenge his fitness to serve.

Among these, (off the top of our heads) are Sen. Obama's...

    • Socialistic economic policy proposals,
    • devotion to restoring the glory days of the union bosses,
    • desire to raise taxes on the engines of prosperity that create jobs,
    • professed intention to 'spread the wealth' around,
    • passion for putting the federal government in charge of your health care,
    • failure to indicate any government spending (other than defense) which could be cut or reduced,
    • collaboration with liberals who promoted 'affordable housing' at the expense of fiscal prudence leading to the credit crisis which sent the economy into a tailspin,
    • equivocation on petroleum exploration in the U.S. (Drill, baby, maybe),
    • long laundry list of proposed new programs, agencies and spending,
    • promotion of abortion with an intensity beyond even his most liberal colleagues,
    • willingness to let living babies from botched abortions die (rather than to risk opening an obscure avenue through which the fragile Roe v. Wade ruling might be challenged),
    • repeated failure to vote (voting 'present'),
    • extreme liberal posture when he did choose to vote,
    • lack of leadership experience beyond his current campaign,
    • lack of evidence to substantiate his mantra of 'change' and his claims to bipartisanship,
    • distorted view of human nature leading him believe he can negotiate with theocrats and dictators who hate us, or perhaps
    • ideological compatibility with theocrats and dictators who hate us leading him to believe he could find common ground for negotiations (it's hard evaluate his motivation here),
    • stated intention to "cut investments in unproven missile defense systems" and to "slow development of future combat systems" leaving us vulnerable before aggressive enemies who have no qualms about being strongest,
    • equivocation on the 2nd amendment (it's an individual right, and we should have prudent restrictions)

And these are just a few of the reasons to vote against Sen. Obama. Despite our well-known differences with Sen. McCain, we could produce a list of equal length expounding upon his obvious readiness to serve as Commander in Chief. There now, I've said it, and I feel better. Look for a version of this to appear soon as Townhall column, or at a theater near you.]

Don’t think this will turn the tide but at least we know who the armed forces want as their next commander in chief.

“One of the great sentinels which jealously stand guard over the institutions of liberty is that of the great middle-class. It guards against the rapacious appetites of the the rich cattle barons as wall as guards against the venal appetite of those less fortunate who desire a welfare state which can only sup upon the lifeblood of the middle-class.” - Hankmeister

Barack Hussein Obama is a closet Marxist steeped in the radicalism of Liberal Theology and that of counter-cultural leftist humanism. Mr. Obama is a man who - despite his watered down and nice sounding rhetoric about “compassion” - poses a direct threat to the great American middle-class with his government-should-spread-the-wealth demagoguery.

And you can quote me on that.

    Military donations favor Obama

“Troops serving abroad have given nearly six times as much money to Obama’s presidential campaign as they have to McCain’s, the Center for Responsive Politics said.”

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-08-14-military-donations_N.htm

Truth be told, the Army Times poll only included subscribers to the Army Times and does not necessarily reflect the accurate disposition of the forces regarding this election.

Financial donations would seem a far more accurate measure of support.

When I wrote my # 40 - I had not received my “Family Security Matters” e-mail which came later with the headline “IT’S AMERICANISM VS, SOCIALISM ON NOV. 4TH.”

Either great minds think alike or they’ve been reading my posts here on ScrappleFace.

It’s above my pay grade to understand how almost 50% of American voters want to vote in another Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez. Except that with their vote, I believe they are voting for, in the words of B. O.’s during one of his speeches - “Once the camel gets it’s nose under the tent’s edge…..” He didn’t finish the old Arabian adage which I heard often while stationed at Wheelus Air Base, Libya - “Once the camel gets it’s nose under the tent’s edge, you’ve got a camel in your tent.”

I believe that once you’ve got a Socialist in the White House, you’ve got a Socialist Nation. B.O. is merely the camel’s nose or the tip of the spear.

Obama’s area of expertise is Constitutional Law. Is there anyone out there who has evidence as to how he views the Constitution? Just curious…

Joe is a dangerous man. He’s a private citizen who objects to having his modest wealth confiscated as punishment for his hard work. That’s why he needed to be destroyed.

The 4 day rectal exam he got from the Obamedia only serves a warning to the rest of us who dare to disagree. Hypocricy continues to run amok.

Does anyone know who said this? Fill in the blank for the following statement:
____ once famously commented, “Kill all the rich people. … Bring the revolution home. Kill your parents.”

Hint: It was not Joe the Plumber.

We’re just about at the point where 50% of the “taxpayers” pay no taxes. I suppose we could call that ‘Representation without Taxation’ Tyranny, just the same.

Okay folks listen up. As many know I don’t post to many web sites since folks are to busy to read everyone-but here is a news site Mark Lavine (sp) suggested. I just cruised over there. Good stuff.

Absolutely The Funniest Joke Ever !

    . . . ON US –

Does anybody out there have any memory of the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY during the Carter Administration? Anybody? Anything? No? Didn’t think so.

Bottom line . . we’ve spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember.
Ready? It was very simple, and at the time everybody thought it very appropriate.
The Department of Energy (located appropriately at 1000 Independance Ave ) was instituted 8-04-1977 TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL. HEY, PRETTY EFFICIENT, HUH?

AND NOW IT’S 2008, 31 YEARS LATER, AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS NECESSARY DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR, THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES, AND APPROXIMATElY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY ‘WHAT WAS I THINKING?’

    THINK BEFORE YOU VOTE !
