(2008-10-08) — With global financial markets tumbling despite multinational governmental intervention to flush credit markets clogged with worthless paper, U.S. President George Bush assured Americans today that “this is probably not the end of the world.”
During a video news conference from his presidential command center, deep beneath the White House, Mr. Bush tried to bolster confidence, saying, “I know that our citizens are concerned about their evaporating retirement accounts, the financial viability of their employers, the safety of their savings accounts, CDs and money market funds. But we’re not talking about celestial showers of blazing brimstone, or multi-headed beasts arising from the pit of Hell, or even about weeping boils covering our flesh so that the flies may feast on our bodily juices. So, just calm down people.”
The president recalled the words of another fiscally-progressive American chief executive when he said, “The only thing we have to fear is…535 amateur economists with unrestricted power to fiddle around with our ecomony. Even fear itself is afraid of them.”

No, not the end. Not even close.
God Save America.

Bush said, “This is Probably Not The End of the World.”
But I can see it from here. It is right on my computer bookshelf-starring at me. The “it” is my Bible. Seems like there is a little bit of info in there that points to OB1’s popularity.
I am not going to tell you where it is in there since there are some readers that need to ferret out the information themselves. And don’t turn to CBN for the answers, it is free for the reading.
“nuff said

Fear feeds on rumor like the Bank run in “It’s A Wonderful Life” the Great Depression wasn’t caused by the stock market crash but by the Federal Government’s attempt to “fix things”. Left alone, the free market will always fix itself.
But woefully, some folks never learn

“The American economy is gradually collapsing. Industrial production is in steady decline, stores are closing, and workers are unemployed. A general gloominess pervades the culture, giving rise to the rhetorical question …”

A glimpse into the future.
Revelation 18
1And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
11And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
12The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
13And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
14And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
15The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
16And saying, Alas, alas that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
20Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
21And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
22And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
23And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
24And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

You weren’t suppose to give all the answers to the test. The need to study the text

I sincerely doubt anybody will read the copy/pasted chapter.
A link would have done as good and would not have undermined the correct premise of comment #2 that mentioned it in the first place.
Throwing Scripture in the face of an unbeliever is futile—they need to seek it for themselves.

Sorry ’bout that.
I guess my desire to see my country continue to abound in greatness is an impediment to seeing what God is going to bring about. Judgment is on its way, tomorrow is one day closer, no one wants to see their children and grandchildren live in a lesser nation. Maybe the fight is over, maybe we should just go away and enjoy whatever we have left.

They are seeking Obama, not the scriptures. I wanted to excerpt the chapter but couldn’t figure out what to cut out, a link would probably have been better, but they wouldn’t read it either. I was headed there before I read comment #2.

What is wealth but a means to expanding our lives? Why should we continue to achieve? Down what drain into the bottomless futureless sewer did they pour our days, our lives and our energy? Achievements not failures, values not needs should be the currency of the unpaid-for.
We should be free of those looters. Do not yoke me to the plow of those 535 amateur economists and thier constituents that think it is a fine idea to take my money and pay their way.
Robin Hood is alive and well. We are led to believe that he was a hero but he was nothing more than a scab stealing from the rich to give to the poor. How do we know that the definition of rich has changed? Maybe he just stole from those that had stuff. Maybe having stuff is enough to put you in the rich category. When will it NOT be okay to steal from me?

No, the “end of the world” will happen, shortly after O’Bama takes office!
I have something I think EVERYONE should see, since the LEFT controlled MSM has said NOTHING about this:

Beth White is the person who sends a notice with your absentee ballot, describing what “electioneering” is, then DOES it herself!
I am sure NOTHING will come of this. After all, she is not only a Dimocrat, but an O’Bama supporter!

All great civilizations of the past are no more. Two generations after “Don’t say no to your children, you’ll give them imhibitions” (Benjamin Spock), we do indeed seem to be traveling the same path to anonymity, PROUD of ourselves as we watch the crumbling.

Question for an Obama supporter. Why is Obama and the DNC fighting the Berg lawsuit? If he is legally qualified why not be anxious to prove it?

mkk #9 - Excellent “….but they wouldn’t read it either.”
It has been my experience, over a period exceeding fifty years that the Scriptures turn or push away the non-elect while they draw the elect all the more closer to their personal relationship with Jesus. Naturally those that God has ‘given over’ are repulsed by even the mention of God, Jesus and/or the Scriptures.
“Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.” (Rom. 1:24)
The Bible says: “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: (Matt. 7:12, 13)
I recall a sermon when the Pastor said that of the Americans attending church, the number of Christians is a tiny fragment of the total.
So many have been deceived with the persuasiveness of cults of every description on every side even including the cult of Obamamania.
but real Christians are rare as the old song says “….everybody talking about Heaven ain’t going there.”
If 100% were real Christians, Prayer would still be in schools, the 10 commandments would still be in the courtrooms. This country would not be in it’s current situation.

FWIW- I know a fellow that is convinced that our financial system is rooted in ancient Babylon. That is why Revelation 18 is seldom far from my thoughts these days, and now our market is bringing down the world economy. Interesting times.
I just heard that the school board in Massachusetts where those 17 girls made a pact to get pregnant is now considering distributing contraceptives. I suppose kids are not bright enough to realize that using the school provided contraceptives would interfere with their pact. This plan will be more effective than abstinence?

What if this entire e plan of loaning money for homes to everybody was a plan by certain people to in effect own the people? Now let’s bail them out and let them remain in their homes, but they are now “our” property and “we” will control them? Evil prevails where Christ is not Lord.
