Obama Rejects Public Funds for Campaign, Entitlements

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 255 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-06-20) — Democrat presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama announced today that in addition to rejecting taxpayer funding for his general election campaign, he will also forgo public funding for government entitlement programs once he reaches the White House.

The public financing of presidential elections as it exists today is broken,” said Sen. Obama. “The public financing of government-run entitlement programs is even worse. The only way to stop the political corruption of both systems is to get the pigs away from the trough.”

The Illinois Democrat said he would raise his own money for the campaign in small amounts from millions of Americans, and that “private charities across the land will do the same thing to provide for the needs of the hungry, the poor, the homeless and the sick.”

By rejecting forced taxpayer-funding, Sen. Obama said, “we hope to give birth to a truly Great Society in which more Americans will get personally involved the lives of others, bringing a human face to hope and love, and setting in motion waves of compassion from sea to shining sea.”

Two of the planks in my previously posted platform (7 June) -

#9. Pay generously for anything and everything specifically authorized by The Constitution.
#10. Delete 100% of anything and everything not specifically authorized by The Constitution.

Those two alone should cover the last two paragraphs although perhaps a rider on some bill that would require the permanent expulsion of any member of the House of Representatives who introduces any bill contrary to #10, would be in order.

Nah! It will never happen for the Chicago machine-politics candidate. Obama, who rose from the precincts of what Sandburg called “the Hog Butcher for the world,” isn’t likely to pass on the pork-futures political payoffs to his beholden entitlement worshippers. The trough is too wide and too deep.

Scott, once again you have hit the nail squarely on the head. I’ve had my own experiences with Social Security (I received SSI-Disability for a few years after I turned 18) and I can attest to the fact that the system is broken.

  • 8 ep29030 // Jun 20, 2008 at 12:06 pm

Obama went on to say, “As a member of the majority party, I was forced to sit by and watch as those cruel, hate-mongering Republicans did nothing to change this broken system. Bush’s domestic policy has created this situation where I am forced to decide between my principles and your donations.”

I thought we had compassion from sea to shining sea. Conservative Christians always give more than the tightwad liberals. They just want the government to make everyone happy. Jeesh, let me tell you that I never had a liberal give me a dollar when I was down and out, they just told me where the nearest government office was located.

    Excellent points.

    Where? nowhere.
    When? never.
Why? no gain to be had for the liberal political agenda.

Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?

Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn’t solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?

Why isn’t the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?

When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?

Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?

Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?

When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a “vanilla” Iowa, because that’s the way God wants it?

Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?

Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?

How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again? Until the next flood, that is.

Fred #16 AMEN to that! I haven’t seen one white person whining about FEMA or blaming Bush for the flooding/levee failures in Iowa. No one has blamed Karl Rove’s Weather Machine for all the torrential rains and tornadic activity. There’s been no word from the fools in Hollywood regarding financially assisting the folks who provide these idiots with their FOOD and their “biofuel” ethanol! :-(

The phony leftist libs could care less about “flyover country.” Those folks in the rural Midwest busting their buns bagging sand, shoring up their own and their neighbors’ properties, or cleaning out ruined homes are mainly white people. Only people with brown or black skin are deserving of the “photo op compassion” of people on the left and the MSM. Just wait until any flood waters travel down the Mississippi and reach NOLA!! Then the “real” media coverage and the “caring” will begin.

It just gets better and better.

It appears that it’s all our fault, once again! Barack is pulling out of the campaign public financing system because of all the money the evil Republicans are raking in from the “lobbyists”, and “unbridled spending” by 527 groups.

“While Sen. Obama said such groups were aiding Sen. McCain’s campaign, he didn’t note that they are lining up to support him as well. Through Thursday, independent political groups supporting Sen. Obama had spent $15.3 million, while independent groups supporting Sen. McCain had spent only $1.1 million, federal campaign-finance records show.”

Obama Rejects Public Financing For General Election .

Obama wouldn’t acknowledge “the truth” if it snuck up behind him and bit him on the … ankle !

How many times must a person “Log in” these days? Use to be maybe once every several weeks???

There’s a u-tube clip of Congressman Ted Poe (R, Tex) raising unholy he(double toothpicks) on the House floor about CFLs!! I’ve been watching it for several days now, trying to memorize his wonderful tirade of five minutes. The Congressman behind him tries to maintain his composure, but ends up laughing hilariously. Poe produces his pocket copy of the Constitution and complains that he can find no place giving the government the authority to stipulate what kind of light bulbs Americans “Across the fruited plains” must use.

He’s serious as all get out with some wonderful satire thrown in - must be reading SF. He slams Congress on the “anti-American, Anti-Energy bill just passed (President Bush of course signed the dumb thing.

This is where Congress “found” their authority.

“Article I, Section 8, Clause 1,3: The Congress shall have power … To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes”.

Light bulbs are part of interstate commerce and thus Congress has the right to regulate their usage. Congress and the courts have used the commerce clause to impact a wide range of areas, from ending segregation in hotels and restaurants to the growing of wheat for primarily home consumption.

I’m going to become a Speculator and invest in another hundred 60 watt bulbs (maybe an extra hundred every month until they become illegal to sell) but maybe not, the latest word is that due to the drawbacks of CFL’s (faded photographs on the wall, radio, tv, cell phone interference - changing color aka ‘yellowing effect’ - loss of up to 30% rated wattage, sometimes in as little as 6 - 8 months, 3.5 - 6 grams of mercury in each bulb, etc.) the fact that every CFL sold in the USA is manufactured in China. The talk is about the total replacement of CFLs with newly improved LED bulbs!!!

But the incandescent bulb is going the way of the 3.5 gallon commode tank. Poe also could not find the authority for the somewhat newly created “Dept. of Toilets and Light Bulbs”

“But we’ve got plenty of duct tape in Texas to clean up the CFLs when they break.”

Top five Heinlein quotes, but my #1 favorite of his is, “Never underestimate the power of hunan stupidity.”

“They didn’t want it good, they wanted it Wednesday.”
“A committee is a creature with three or more legs and no brain.”
“Sex without love is merely healthy exercise.”
“Suicide is the most sincere form of self-criticism.”
“The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive.”

DRUDGE has a Newsweek poll with Obama finally getting his “bump” ahead by 15 points.

I agree with Rush - that what people “tell” pollsters and what they DO when actually in the privacy of the voting booth, can be two very different things.

Nonetheless - “Never underestimate the power of human stupidity.”

No one - not even Obama or his wife is praying to whoever it is they pray to, as fervently as Jimmy Carter. He wants Obama to win!!! He sees an Obama win as his only chance to get his name off of the top of the “Worst Presidents in American History List.

The problem is that if Obama wins, America will look back on the “Good Old Days” of Carter’s Presidency with wistful nostalgia.

A complete list of things caused by global warming .

Caution: you may find some of this information disturbing. For example, the story about veteran Loch Ness Monster hunter Robert Rines:

“Despite having hundreds of sonar contacts over the years, the trail has since gone cold and Rines believes that Nessie may be dead, a victim of global warming.”

    Sad.

    et #38 - WoW!!!!!

Thank you, thank you and again, thank you. I finally figured it out! (duh) you are a very clever satirist - VERY.

Way back in 1956 I was stationed at Fairchild AFB, WA - I had a friend who often spoke in reverse.

At a Church member’s home, following a truly great meal; Bill said to our host, ” This meal really brings back memories (you had to know Bill), it reminds me so much of home and my mother’s cooking.”

Mrs. Lundy replied - Why thank you, Bill. I’m glad to hear you say that.”

To which Bill responded, ” Yeah, poor old soul, she never learned to cook either.”

Like Bill, you speak (write) in reverse.

    satire |ˈsaˌtīr|
    noun
the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

    • a play, novel, film, or other work that uses satire : a stinging satire on American politics.
    • a genre of literature characterized by the use of satire.

So when you write, ” Some sad souls voted for this fellow twice; amazing!” what you are really saying is, “Some intelligent, informed souls voted for this fellow twice; amazing and wonderful!”

Thank you for supporting our President in such a way. George W. has fulfilled his job description in keeping America free of further terrorist attacks for about seven years now and is certainly deserving of your laudatory praise.

George W. has done several things that I disagree with, but I will always respect the office that he holds and will never give aid an comfort to America’s enemies by speaking ill of him.

This November (and being no fan of McCain) I will vote, like yourself, for anyone whose last name isn’t Obama.

Thank you et, for clearing that up.

O.T. - I dogpiled “Rationing in Cuba” and now, two hours later, after reading link after link - I see what Mr. Obama envisions as “Change for America”

Obama and cohorts (Harry Reid, Nancy Polosi, etc) are in lockstep with Cuba - as a tiny example of food rationing.

    Standard rations

A table follows that illustrates the standard ration distributed through this system. Figures are per person, per month. An indication of the subsidized prices is given, as well. Allowances vary from year to year, so these should be understood as approximate figures, based on year 2000 data:
    (Source: http://cubamigo.org/merengue123/alimentacion.html)
    Product Quantity Price (CUP)
    Rice 6 lb 0.70 / lb
    Beans 20 oz. 0.32 / lb
White (refined) sugar 3 lb 0.15 / lb
Dark (unrefined) sugar 3 lb 0.10 / lb
Milk (only children under 7 years) 1 lt / day 0.25 / each
    Eggs (*) 12 0.15 each
    Potatoes/bananas 15 lb 0.40 / lb
(*) Only from September through December.
Meat products are distributed separately, if available, following a different rationale. These are distributed each 15 days, and usually rotate (that is, the product type changes on each delivery). Fish, beef, grinded beef (usually mixed with soy), chicken, sausages and ham fall in this category. Quantities, and prices, differ for each meat product (beef, ½ lb/person each 15 days, whereas chicken is 1 lb/person each 15 days).
It must be said that distribution is not always prompt, and product delivery is frequently delayed (for example, if one month there were no beans to distribute, they usually cumulate for next month, although this is not always the case). Such delays are most evident in beef distribution. The fact that products are not available at the bodega always, but arrive in a more or less random manner, creates long queues when products arrive, which sometimes makes buying the products a quite lengthy process…..

Everything is rationed i.e. 1 pr cheap shoes every six months. Trousers, skirts & shirts - 1 every six months - 1 tube toothpaste per month (family of 4).

One said that Cubans who make it to America, some have been known to faint when taken into our grocery stores unable to believe that much food even exists.

Sure made me glad that I am an American, living in America. (even with all of our warts and scars)

So, if anyone wants “Change” to carrying a ration card everywhere, for each and every purchase - vote Obama in November!

    IN GOD WE TRUST

Wondering…..Why not start a movement with concerned Conservative Lawyers representing College graduates as they file malpractice suits against teachers, professors and Colleges for fraudulently taking students money in exchange for phony “Graduation Diplomas” ?

Former students whose minds are now filled with the trash of Liberal Theology. Minds that were seeking a genuine education and instead paid for an updated (and probably better) liberal version of the communists brainwashing or “re-education” camps.

If doctors can be sued for malpractice, why not education professionals?

Perhaps, after it becomes expensive enough and teachers are forced to buy and pay for malpractice insurance, the phony teaching of evolution and “manmade” Global Warming will take a back seat to teaching facts and not passing off harebrained theories as true.

As for windfall profits; how about the 1954 expense of $495.00 for a year in college to an average of $5,285.00 today? Paying over 5 grand to have your brain stuffed with mush, strikes me as pretty stupid.

had any share in the amount collected. The absence of

Oh dear…is this really true? If so it explains a lot…

“Speaking in tongues”, a practice usually linked to charismatic denominations like the Pentecostal churches, is regarded skeptically by most U.S. Christians.

But the survey found that a sizeable minority of Christians, or 19 percent, reported that they spoke in tongues, which usually refers to the uttering of a language foreign or unknown to the speaker. It is therefore taken to be a miraculous event.

Nearly one in ten of the U.S. Christians questioned in the survey said they spoke in tongues on a weekly basis. Among American Pentecostals the figure was 28 percent.

Well, I guess this is about as good time as any to let the kind Scrapplers to know I am going in for sort of a major surgery this Thursday at our local hospital. No easy eye surgery this time.

What started out to be a stomach type surgery now has bloomed into a cut ‘er open and toss out the useless organs. There will be 2 surgeons, one heart, one general and 2 more specialists on standby.

Now it does sound complicated and maybe it won’t be, but the trauma to the body can mess up the MS and that may be worse than the surgery. So heart filters, stomach wall repair, gall bladder taken out the old fashioned way and maybe a partial hysterectomy all in one morning may keep me away from the computer for a bit.

I knew it was coming for a month but I made a few last minute doctor changes because of the one surgeon’s caviler attitude toward my MS. The new surgeon is a more compassionate slicer and dicer than the first one. So, I will take a deep breath and see you all on the other side of Thursday

PS: prayers are welcome and will be taken the the highest point of gratitude

    Beerme,

I read Obama’s book “The Audacity of Hope”. I can’t recommend it too highly.

I was particularly impressed with his first exchanged with the old former klansman, Senator Robert Bird; and with the bond that only Christian agape could create.

As a son who also grew up without a father in the home, I was impressed with his dealings, and resolution of “Father Conflict” with his white grandfather. In the same way, I am impressed with the way he dealt with his grandmother’s racist attitudes.

These may be “touchie-feelie” things, but I think they reveal his character.

I was very impressed with his academic accomplishments and achievement against strong obstacles, where I also found his motives to laudable.

He is on record against our invasion of Iraq, and instead in favor of a relentless pursuit of Osama bin Laden.

This demonstrates judgment that experience alone can not provide.

Like Lincoln, he began his presidential campaign at Springfield; but, of course, Obama had more experience than Lincoln.

    Thanks for asking,

et #96 - Depends on the circumstances - if he was divorced for Scriptural reasons, he’s free to remarry (there are four).

If not, he’s more than an adulterer he’s also a bigamist.

Of course if he’s not a Christian - then manmade laws apply and he’s clear.

A mongoose is not a goose but more like a meercat, which is not a cat but more like a prairie dog, which is not a dog but more like a ground squirrel.

You can get confused when applying manmade labels to someone or something.

    1.) Adultery
2.) Is no longer bound. But to the married I give instructions, not I, but the Lord, that the wife should not leave her husband
(but if she does leave, she must remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband should not divorce his wife.
But to the rest I say, not the Lord, that if any brother has a wife who is an unbeliever, and she consents to live with him, he must not divorce her.
And a woman who has an unbelieving husband, and he consents to live with her, she must not send her husband away.
For the unbelieving husband is sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband; for otherwise your children are unclean, but now they are holy.
Yet if the unbelieving one leaves, let him leave; the brother or the sister is NOT UNDER BONDAGE in such cases, but God has called us to peace. (1 Cor. 7:10-15)

3.) Was married and divorced before becoming a Christian.

  • 128 mindknumbed kid // Jun 24, 2008 at 7:58 pm

Perhaps 1Cor 2:14 explains why you have so much trouble “seeing” things. It says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

Is God going to give his approval/blessings to a man that supports murdering the unborn? If you claim to know God intimately, should you speak well of him?
Lot was vexed by the unrighteous fellow citizens of Soddam, he was not sinless, or perfect, yet God referred to him as being “just”, and spared him from the destruction of his neighbors. Our President is not perfect, or sinless, but there are things that separate men that God refers to as being “just”, and those he does not. Some things are clearly wrong, you can try judging folks by your own standards a condemn him, but when you look at a man through the written word of God, you are not judging him, the rightly divided Word judges. Feet that are swift to shed innocent blood are contrary to God’s Word. David, was a very righteous man, yet God refused him his desire to build a house for God, but not because of sin, but because David had been in many battles and was responsible, for much shedding of blood, it was not, however innocent blood. How many wars did God himself directly authorize? He commaned his people to kill entire cultures, is God evil because of such commands? Every war in history has had its critics and opponents, just because you disagree with this one does not make it wrong, but to hold the Commander in Chief responsible for murder of innocent incidental casualties is highly improper, and by doing so you say that we can never, under any circumstance engage an enemy in war to defend our existence. So what you are really arguing is for us to surrender to the first rouge thug in line, unless we can talk him out of conquering us.

upnorthlurkin #120, for such “terrible” economic times that the dhimmis keep telling us we are in, I find it interesting how much money Dough-bama has raked in, and how much continues to roll in to his campaign coffers. For people who are supposedly having to choose between food and filling up their gas tanks, or for those who claim to not be able to afford healthcare, there seem to be plenty of them who are willing to send their money to The Obamacon. Amazing what some people’s priorities are, isn’t it?

I was trying to equate the cost of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan with the cost of WW2. I found the cost in early forties dollars was $304 Billion. I couldn’t find what would be in today’s dollars.

Pop was a nickel, burgers 15 cents. a new ford, chevy or plymouth was under 2g. For a country coming out of the “Great Depression” in 1941 we had barely a marginal military but we geared up FAST!!!

304 B wasn’t easy to come by. War Bonds were sold, scrap drives, etc but Americans did whatever it took. Meatless days, Wheatless and Sweetless days were the norm. Ration books for gas, tires, etc. Does anybody else recall the mill coins? 10 mills = 1 penny, the 1 mill was red plastic, the 5 mill was green (for two mills you could buy little packets of “red hots”).

With all of the wrangling by the anti-war libbers about how much today’s war is costing (1.2 B for a single B-2 Stealth Bomber), I’m curious to know how much 304B in 1945 dollars would be today.

    I found it! I dogpiled “inflation 1945 - 2008″

$1.00 in 1945 had about the same buying power as $11.86 in 2008.
Annual inflation over this period was about 4%.

    304 B in 1945 would be $3,605,440,000,000. today (roughly) - Three trillion 605 billion, 440 million. Or rounded off - over 3.5 T.

    FYI:
Comment Moderation is not random; rather, it operates through the use of filters looking for certain buzz words, word combos or whatever. Comment Moderation can be toggled on/off by the Blog Administrator which leads me to believe that a Blog Administrator would probably not consider it a pain to have it in operation if they are the one who put it into operation in the first place. There might be some pain in the actual act of moderating, I suppose, since the Blog Administrator would have to read some potentially lame garbage.

Also, I suspect that this blog is using the default moderation settings because, for example, Scott could snag every comment with the words “Bush Lied” or “PUSH” in them and save a whole mess of database storage, and I haven’t seen any evidence of such nor would I expect to.

It is true that the Blog Administrator must click a button to release a comment from moderation, but I would say that the physical act itself requires a few seconds at most. It should also be noted that most Blog Administrators are not spending every waking moment staring at their dashboards waiting for the moderation software to kick a comment their way.

    saguaro

In Arizona the Joshua tree is protected from cutting or damage by State Law. There are extremely severe penalties that are strictly levied.

Why not, instead of building a border fence, plant intertwining saguaro cactus along the border, each border state can enact protection laws. There’s no way to get through giant saguaros without cutting.

The question of the day for today - Have you been spiritually intimate with God?
The question is not have you accepted him as your Lord and Savior. But it is, of course, only for those that have taken that step.
Take some time today and ponder the idea of having this kind of relationship with him. Thirst for him, long to be with him, and look for an opportunity to leave this present world and join him for complete fellowship.
Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind.
“This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” Let this never be said of anyone that knows Christ as their Savior!

  • 173 mindknumbed kid // Jun 25, 2008 at 6:54 pm

I’m trying to get this out of purgatory -

So, we all understand that you are anxious to align yourself against God, and to stand alongside his enemies, so why come around here bragging up your position? Oh, I know the answer, you are one of those intellectuals who are so much smarter than are we, that you are just trying to help us ignorant slobs. Well, I believe I speak for most all here when I say, No thank you!

JL 3rd #171 - Jimmy Carter’s second term? Huh! I wish it could be so easy. Unlike”Rocky 2″ raise the 2 to the upper right of the “r” and it will read “Jimmy Carter squared”.

Or more accurately IMHO “Jimmy Carter 666″ that readout would look like “Jimmy Carter to the sixth power, to the sixth power, to the sixth power.”

That was the take Robert Heinlein took with his novel “Number Of The Beast”; that the 666 was a code and was an erroneously transcribed error and the corrected rendering was “the sixth power, to the sixth power, to the sixth power”, meaning the total number of simultaneously co-existing Universes.

It works out to be a really, really big number.

I doubt that there are very many people anywhere with the mental capacity to comprehend the disaster America will suffer with an Obama Presidency. I know I cannot.

I believe that Mark Steyn’s book “America Alone” gives a “thumbnail” of what’s in store. Not necessarily during the first four years, but the beginning of America’s end (as we know it), I heard Obama himself say on TV, “Once the camel gets it’s nose under the edge of your tent…..”

In a couple or three decades America (as we know it) will cease to exist. At my age, I won’t have to witness it - or hopefully Jesus will return before that is fully realized. It’s possible that the beginning of the Tribulation is at hand.

Since Scott hasn’t posted about this yet, I’m changing the topic to the SCOTUS injustice that was done today. The child rapist, who very brutally attacked his 8-yr. old step-daughter, doesn’t deserve the death penalty, according to the “Gang of Five” buffoons on that court. Miserable pukes should have to undergo the same treatment that poor little girl went through. Daily. I am SO angry about this.

Seems the name “Kennedy” can have some pretty evil associations, eh? “Patrick Kennedy” is the child rapist who was just spared by “Anthony Kennedy,” who wouldn’t even be on the SC to write the “majority” opinion, were it not for “Ted Kennedy’s” borking of Reagan conservative SC nominee, Robert Bork. Thanks to a bunch of Kennedy’s [not related, btw], that girl’s life has been ruined, she hasn’t received the justice she deserves, and she will spend the rest of her life knowing that the piece of fecal matter who severely brutalized her didn’t get what he deserved.

The blood of the damage done to that child is on all of your hands, Mssrs. Kennedy. May you all receive the same measure of mercy you have shown that poor little girl.

    FROM DRUGE REPORT TODAY:

“SAN FRANCISCO: Reagan has his highways. Lincoln has his memorial. Washington has the capital, and a state, too. But President George W. Bush may soon be the sole president to have a memorial named after him that you can contribute to from the bathroom.

From the Department of Damned-With-Faint-Praise, a group going by the regal-sounding name of the Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is planning to ask voters here to change the name of a prize-winning water-treatment plant on the shoreline to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.

The plan - hatched, naturally, in a bar - would place a vote on the November ballot to provide “an appropriate honor for a truly unique president.”

I think this provides a unique opportunity, that in view of all the excrement that has been handed to and thrown at him during his two terms in office by the Liberal Party AND ESPECIALLY THE 9TH DISTRICT COURT, IT IS APPROPRIATE THAT SAN FRANCISCO SHOULD NAME THE ONLY THING THEY ARE GOOD AT PRODUCING, AFTER HIM.

IMHO - that would be a good turnaround!

Last week, AOL ran a headline about Obama beating McCain and then attempted to demonstrate it with their own straw poll, which was shown at the end of the article. When it went overwhelmingly for McCain, AOL stopped it and started another one. Maybe they should have stuck with the first one.

    http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/06/20/aol-straw-poll-june-20-27/

It’s not scientific, but AOL is pretty far left and more than 300,000 votes were cast. See if you can find a single blue state.

I am not a fan of Ralph Nader at all but, if one removes the media’s puerile, race-baiting spin from his recent comment regarding BO, he merely spoke the obvious.

I thought everyone took it for granted as I did. Apparently, there are some who did not notice when, while frantically tap-dancing the Victim Boogie, he secreted that Ace up the sleeve upon which he wears his various resentments.

In a race that is not about race, BO is All About Race.

FYI - Now it’s all clear. The planet that the space aliens came from was much colder than earth which logically explains algore’s obsession with his Global Warming phobia, aka “The Great Hoax”. He’s getting messages from the “Mother Ship” (currently parked behind our moon) about his “Mission” to cool this planet down so it will be more comfortable when they take over.

Most people just shrugged it off as a joke, after algore lost his bid, it was retold as a joke adding about 8 other Democrats. Makes an excellent joke, but as Joe Friday would say, “Just the facts…..just the facts”

The story enjoyed a boost in popularity during Gore’s presidential campaign in 1999 after a Republican pollster passed it along to Washington Times columnist John McCaslin, who wrote:

Vice President Al Gore had better hope GOP pollster Frank Luntz isn’t a mouthpiece for any of his Republican opponents in the 2000 presidential election.

“Should I get involved, I will focus a great deal of attention on Roswell, New Mexico,” Mr. Luntz tells Inside the Beltway.

What does Roswell have to do with Mr. Gore?

    “Aliens,” Mr. Luntz reveals.

On July 8, 1947, he reminds us, witnesses claim a spaceship with five aliens aboard crashed on a sheep-and-cattle ranch outside Roswell, an incident they say has been covered up by the military.

    Are you saying . . . ?

“Nine months after that day, Al Gore was born!” Mr. Luntz discloses. (actually 8 months and three weeks)

Supreme Court Voids D.C. Gun Ban

    Thursday, June 26, 2008 10:31 AM

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Americans have a right to own guns for self-defense and hunting, the justices’ first major pronouncement on gun rights in U.S. history.

The court’s 5-4 ruling struck down the District of Columbia’s 32-year-old ban on handguns as incompatible with gun rights under the Second Amendment. The decision went further than even the Bush administration wanted, but probably leaves most firearms laws intact.
Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for four colleagues, said the Constitution does not permit “the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home.”

Joining Scalia were Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy and Clarence Thomas.

Scott is busier than ever at this time of year, and new articles may come in spurts. It’s a good reminder of just how much we appreciate him, eh?

Fred S. #197: Good News, Bad News.

The Good News: A (bare) majority of the SCOTUS still believes that the words of the U. S. Constitution were not written in disappearing ink.

The Bad News: Your rights are now essentially in the hands of Justice Anthony Kennedy. For example, when someone brings a case testing what restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms are “reasonable”.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

And, last but not least, the Worst News: there is a better-than 50/50 chance that Barack Obama will be POTUS in a few short months. With a solid majority in the U. S. Senate (at a minimum!) to assist him in putting new Justices on the court who will be the ideological soul-mates of Stevens, Breyer, Souter & Ginsburg.

But hey, other than that …

  • 219 Fred Sinclair // Jun 27, 2008 at 10:12 am

Yep - pushing did help after all. In the meanwhile:

    Now I understand….

A major research institution recently announced the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named Governmentium (LK) has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons,
88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second; to take over four days to complete.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s Mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass.

When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

Is America’s current “tide” one that is pushing it toward God, or away from God? The people we elect do not necessarily determine which direction we will go, but it is very likely a key factor. The solution to our problem is not political. The solution is spiritual. In order to “save” our country, we are going to need a great revival. Electing John McCain will not restore it, electing Barack Obama will not restore it. The best that we can hope for out of the two is that the current positions would be held fast, for that you would have to choose McCain. The worst thing would be to continue to let the tide take us further away, which is most likely under Obama.

There is no doubt, if America does not turn back to God, the best politicians in the world will not help her remain.

I’ve been thinking about starting a blog, or newsletter dealing with the pending destruction of the American Biblical Christian Culture. I want to help Christians who care about their country to stand up and say to the forces that are destroying us, “Not on my watch”. If and when her fall comes, may it be in the hands of another generation.
I am sick unto death of watching her go down the path that leads to utter destruction. How about you?

When our laws are in violation of God’s laws, we are in a dangerous position. You can’t legislate morality, but you can pass laws that encourage or allow for immorality, if you want to argue that we have not been doing such things you are in denial, or just ignorant of God’s laws. The founding fathers understood the necessity of building inside of principles found in God’s word. They understood that without God’s help and blessings upon a people it is a vain effort to try to build a free nation. If you qualify as such a person, you are one of the people in the American Christian culture that I referred to in the other post. I don’t really care what “religion” you belong to, we have freedom to associate with whomever we choose. If you have read my thought you would know that I “loathe” religion, except for the religion that the Word of God calls true religion. You talk as though your head knows things that your heart doesn’t understand.

et #234 - “Are Catholics part of that culture? How about Mormans, or Jews?”

That was answered for you and myself very clearly.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jn. 14:6)

Now Jesus was either (1.) Telling the truth or (2.) Was the greatest liar in the history of the planet.

Without Jesus, you’re toast. “Under the bus” or whatever…. now about the Aborigines in the outback a thousand years ago, I don’t know, I’ll leave that to God.

Now what’s this, “…but by me.” thing?
Well, I’m glad you asked. Once again - now, I didn’t write it - but I’ve got a copy of one who did write it.

“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1John 5:11-13)

Whosoever believes - that includes Christian Catholics, Christian Mormons, Christian Methodists, Christian Jews, Christian Baptists and Christian Anything Else.

When I accepted Jesus as my Saviour, the Bible says “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. (Rom. 8:17) I was “grafted in” and became a member of God’s Family which means, as I read it that I became a Jew by adoption.

To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Gal. 4:5)
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, (Eph. 1:5)

So, that makes me (and every other Christian in the world) a Christian Jew.

Around my neck is a gold chain, hanging from it is a gold “Star of David” - superimposed on it is a plain silver cross.

A “lucky charm? An amulet? no, just an outward manifestation of an inward condition.

et - that’s the best I’ve got. I hope it answers your question to your satisfaction.

So. Guess what. The UN Human Rights Council does not consider Free Speech a Human Right, particularly in respect to the criticism of Islam. You may only speak of Islam before this putrid panel if you are an Islam Scholar or some such and only with adoring praise.

Which is cool with me, I guess, if they wish to deflect the unwelcome (apparently) spotlight onto Muslims as a whole. It seems counter-productive, though.

Just got this in - hope it posts OK - it’s priceless…..(well almost)

You may need to watch it twice; once to watch the Burma shave signs change and once to catch all the pictures plus listening to the music of the Statler Brothers.

    THIS IS REALLY GREAT !!!

For those of you too young to remember “too bad you missed it !!”

    Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
    He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
    He hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword;
    His truth is marching on.

JL3, How sad that the freedom to express oneself is not viewed by the UN as a human right. I guess that is the difference between being an individual citizen and being a subject. The early Christians were put in prison or killed because they freely expressed their belief in Christ and boldly proclaimed the Gospel before men. God Bless the USA! Heavenly Father, we thank you in the name of Jesus for our freedom to speak our conscience in this country. Amen.

I think it is absolutely wonderful that the Has-Been Hero, Idol and Guru of the Democrat Party, since the spotlight of worship and adoration has veered elsewhere, is throwing an extended tantrum, giving celebrities the cold shoulder and suggesting that a certain presidential candidate should kiss his buttock.

It is prayer, not politicians that will turn this land aright. Good night, and God bless.

JL3rd #252 - For once I sincerely hope that Former President W.J. Clinton is right in his assessment of B.O.

    From DRUDGE (excerpt)

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

“He’s saying he’s not going to reach out, that Obama has to come to him. One person told me that Bill said Obama would have to quote kiss my a** close quote, if he wants his support.

Another Democrat said that despite polls showing Mr Obama with a healthy lead over Republican John McCain, Mr Clinton doesn’t think he can win.

I am thinking that the former White House resident is struggling to accept the reality that he isn’t going to be sleeping there again anytime soon, he isn’t as relevant as he once was, and that someone else is more popular than he and his wife are. In that regard, that crazy priest was right, they thought they were entitled to it, but not because of race or gender, just because of who they are. I wonder if Mr. Clinton hadn’t better spend some time on a couch in someone’s office. This behavior is not what you can call supporting his party, I suspect that his Kool Aid is unsweetened and he is having trouble stomaching it. Is it a ploy to get his wife the #2 spot? If so, I don’t think it will work out for them, but one thing is for certain, Bill is gonna be a pain in Obama’s butt no matter who the veep is that he chooses. In the end, as long as they all lose, it will be better for the country.
