Noose Incidents Spark Sharpton Call for Rope Ban

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 32 Comments

(2007-10-16) — In the wake of several recent noose-display incidents, meant to frighten African-Americans by conjuring memories of America’s history of violent racism, the Rev. Al Sharpton today testifies before a House panel to call for “a nationwide ban on sales, to members of the oppressor class, of rope segments longer than 24 inches.”

The House panel convenes to probe whether justice was served in the case of the Jena 6, a group of non-racist black teens accused in the gang beating of a white youth in Louisiana following a noose-display incident.

Mr. Sharpton, who rallied thousands of activists last month to demand lenient treatment of the Jena 6, will also call on Congress to decriminalize gang beatings in cases where the victim is suspected of displaying racist symbols.

“Just because you’re a victim of violence, doesn’t mean that you’re not a hate criminal,” Mr. Sharpton will reportedly tell the panel. “By the same token, sometimes a gang beating is an appropriate way to exercise free speech against the hate criminal … you know, speaking truth to power.”

Almost as bad as being a love criminal. Then you would have to love the crime but hate the criminal or something like that.
That just doesn’t seem quite right for some reason.

Heh! I just had a thought. Without rope, there can no longer be this tug-o-war in Congress! They’re just gonna have one big love fest. Maybe we could just have ScrappleFace2Face there next year and have fun “yanking their chains” instead.

  • 13 boberinyetagain // Oct 16, 2007 at 9:58 am

c-a-t, then again, w/o enough rope Congress can’t hang themselves either and that would just be a shame.

  • 14 Maggie // Oct 16, 2007 at 10:08 am

It’s been fun hanging out with you guys but I need to swing by Walmart .See you later.

  • 17 da Bunny // Oct 16, 2007 at 10:42 am

Doesn’t the United States House of Representatives have anything better to do than conduct “probes” into local criminal cases? Guess they’ve gotten “roped in” by Sharpton’s theatrics once again.

  • 18 boberinyetagain // Oct 16, 2007 at 10:58 am

They have themselves tied up in knots over the whole affair.
Judging by what they have accomplished they don’t have anything at all to do let alone something better.

  • 19 RedPepper // Oct 16, 2007 at 11:10 am

da Bunny #18: Since the U.S. Senate is referred to as the world’s greatest deliberative body, Speaker Pelosi wants the House to be known as the world’s greatest investigative body.

And don’t forget, they raised the Minimum Wage. Woo-hoo!

Apart from that, they haven’t done doodley-squat

I bet some of these events were staged by leftists like the Muslim/leftists staged the fake racist posters supposedly distributed by Young Americans promoting Islamofascism Awareness Week. I previously posted to the link to this scandalous lying by leftist Islamophiles who were trying to paint Young Americans as Muslim racists. What morons, Muslim isn’t a race … but that’s another story.

Also, the left is not above blaming conservatives for whatever crime befalls liberal celebrities and they do so without any proof whatsoever. Here’s the headline at Drudge:

REPORT: ‘AIR AMERICA’ TALKSHOW HOST MUGGED, ASSAULTED IN NYC…
…and the leftist nutroots are blaming conservatives! It was probably the work of Democratic-voting thugs who randomly targeted Randy Rhodes as she jogged around the neighborhood. But already its some big neo-con conspiracy and the liberal media just throws right out there without an ounce of proof. That’s how lying liberal work to poison the water.

Keep in mind, this is the side of the aisle that got their union thugs to break in and intimidate Republicans at precinct headquarters in Pennyslvania and Ohio during the 2004 elections as well as pooh-poohing shots fired at other Republican headquarters in heavily Democratic precincts.

Our own store front has two bullet holes in a window where we were displaying “Support Our Troops” signs back in 2003! The shots were fired at night. Police took a report and nothing else happened.

  • 21 Darthmeister // Oct 16, 2007 at 11:24 am

Hmmm, make that … “paint Young Americans as ANTI-Muslim racists.”

As far as I’m concerned militant Islamism is no different than Nazism. No one would ever say someone was racist or bigotted for opposing Nazism, yet when rational people oppose Islamism (i.e. radical Islam), we’re called racists and bigots despite the overwhelming violence engaged in by fundamentalist Islamists. You see, when one is consistently critical of radical Islam then the left whine that you hate all Muslims. Both Muslims and radical leftist engage in this obfuscation to try and discredit critics of Islamic fundamentalism.

Maybe if we start beheading more of our critics we’d get more respect from the left who invariably wax so eloquently about the “religion of peace.”

  • 22 boberinyetagain // Oct 16, 2007 at 11:36 am

We don’t hate Muslims, we only hate the ones that disagree with us
    :)

In my opinion, the more recent “Noose Events” have far less to do with “frightening African-Americans” ( “Eek! A NOOSE!!!!!” ) than with the desire to see more Tap Dancing by The Sharpton Dance Troupe, starring Jesse “Fast Foots” Jackson-although, I must admit, both scenarios have their comical aspects.

  • 24 boberinyetagain // Oct 16, 2007 at 11:49 am

Is there no instance from histroy of an African American hanging a white person?
I’m white and I’m afraid of nooses tooses

  • 25 The Great Santini // Oct 16, 2007 at 2:00 pm

In honor of Race-Baiter Al and the Jena 6 Munchkins, that House hearing will start with a showing of the lynch scenes from Clint Eastwood’s “Hang ‘Em High!” That oughta get the bad joo-joo flowin’.

  • 26 its-just-me // Oct 16, 2007 at 2:24 pm

    C’mon…
If you’r gonna say “African American,” don’t you also have to say something like “European American” or something similar?
After all, we’re not technically white.

  • 27 Darthmeister // Oct 16, 2007 at 2:42 pm

    Buwahahahahaha! This just in.

After all the left-wing blogger hysteria over Air America’s Randy Rhodes having been mugged by some alleged neo-con liberal hater it now appears she may have simply fallen while walking her dog! What moroons!

You can’t make this stuff up!

  • 28 Beerme // Oct 16, 2007 at 5:56 pm

I, too, suspect some of these noose displays might be “plants”. Why would this archaic symbol suddenly become so popular among racist America? Most Americans were not yet among the living when “lynching” was a phenomenon.

  • 29 lighthorseman // Oct 16, 2007 at 9:23 pm

Say it ain’t so, Al. How can we have a spring round-up and brand the calves with ropes only 24 inches long? Well, steer wrestling is always an option, but I am getting to old to throw myself off a perfectly good horse. Never mind, I’ve still got my guns. I’ll just get the drop on those calves and make’em stand for the iron! Don’t Taz me Bro!!!

  • 30 prettyold // Oct 17, 2007 at 9:54 pm

We don’t hat all Muslims ,just the ones who try to kill us.

  • 31 prettyold // Oct 17, 2007 at 9:56 pm

We don’t Hate them either. Actually I do hat them sometimes ,just for the fun of it.

  • 32 prettyold // Oct 17, 2007 at 9:58 pm

    No noose is good noose.
