Democrats Mull Alternatives to Iraq War Funding Cut

by Scott Ott · 32 Comments

(2007-02-19) — After failing to pass a non-binding resolution condemning a U.S. troop surge in Iraq, Democrats, reluctant to cut funding for the war, are reportedly studying a host of alternatives designed to show that they support the troops yet oppose the commander-in-chief, President George Bush.

“Cutting funding for troops in the field is political suicide,” said one unnamed Democrat senator, “but we think we have some creative ways to accomplish our goal of ending the war, without the perception that we’re anti-troop.”

The following is a partial list of the top options now under consideration by Democrat leaders in the House and Senate, each of which demonstrates support for the troops, but accelerates the pace of withdrawal:
- Increase funding for body armor. Require ground troops to wear two KEVLAR® suits each, and to carry a large bronze shield on street patrol.
- Supply infantry with “tricked out” HumVees, complete with undercarriage neon lighting, glow-in-the-dark paint job, “always on” thundering-bass sound system and a bumper sticker that reads “Jesus is My Co-Pilot.”
- Send every member of the fighting force a personal “Thank You,” letting them know that they’re giving their lives in order to protect a land where the top news story all week has been about Britney Spears shaving her head.
- Pass non-binding resolution condemning overcrowding at U.S. bases in Iraq.
- Sponsor USO Tour featuring Barbra Streisand, Rosie O’Donnell and Michael Moore.
- Release scientific report proving that muzzle flash causes global warming.

Are you sure Britney shaved her head, or did all the hair just fall out cause there was nothing inside to attach to?

I know! I know! A Marathon Fundraiser! Super cool Chip Foose, the Chrome Shop Mafia, and the boys from American Chopper should get together under the leadership of Jesse James (since he’s already done it) and trick out the humvee.

Wait, that’s just waaaaay too much fun for the Dimmis. Maybe a counter-move by the RNC sponsored by CMT!

    Bwahaahahahahahaha!

Good Morning Marge, and good job so far!! I think that USO Tour should play Club Gitmo!!

Maybe if we hand Britney over to the Mullahs in Iran, that will be an offering to end the war?

They “support” the troops. They just don’t defend, protect, reinforce, respect, honor, believe or stand by them AFTER voting to send them into war. Wake up America. If you’re being duped by this you’re in a coma.

Now that the left is in charge of congress Alec Baldwin has decided to return the United States. You may have forgotten that he said he would leave the US if Bush was elected.

William Douglass M.D. posted a three part series on Liberalism. I re-sent the first two but due to flak I got, I had to preface the third part. as follows -

There are always some that just don’t get it. This is part 3 of a 3 part article that some wrongly think has something to do with the subject of cigarettes and smoking. Dr. Douglass does not smoke. He merely picked smoking as an overt example to make his point about Liberals. Our current liberal leftist government is ever so slowly (and carefully) lacing thread upon thread as they seek eventual control over each and every aspect of citizen’s lives.

The Jews did it with the ten commandments and ended up with hundreds and hundreds of “little laws” that even controlled how many steps you were allowed to walk and how many stitches could be made while sewing. Hitler picked up on that and used his Nazi German “little laws” to enslave (with their cooperation) the entire country and other countries as well.

So when Dr. Campbell writes of the smoke-Nazis he chooses his words carefully. Liberals live for big government, victims (and where they can’t find them, they create them) and entitlement programs. Where they can get people “hooked” with the drug of “entitlement dependency” the liberals become the masters and the welfare recipient the slave. Under the potential of having the monthly check suspended, denied or revoked the slaves are “kept in line” and will continue to vote however they are told.

Four decades of liberalism sets New Orleans as a perfect example of how an entire citizenship can become enslaved, while maintaining the illusion of freedom.

    Good stuff Scott!

Honor the troops? I ask again, been to a VA hospital lately? Is it a warm and welcoming place? A place of hope and light? Are those left behind (some for the 3rd or 4th time, cared for, nutured, supported in ANY meaningful way?
Give me a break folks, taking these kids out of harms way (when they are there for little or no good reason) is how you honor them.
Can’t/won’t do that? Fine…show actual, useful, meaningful support for them and their families, while they are there and, at least as importantly, when they come home.
Till then, shut up for God’s sake. This administration does NOTHING to “honor” the troops. Nothing

  • 17 Deerslayer // Feb 19, 2007 at 11:54 am

    My dearest boberin,

I have lived through the methods used by a Democrat Congress to end a war. I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. Millions upon millions of people were killed and all indications is that this WILL happen again. Perhaps the libs only care about themselves and their ability to suck the life and wealth from those that see through their left wing crazyness. Many libs would end up in a mental institution were they still available. Please sit down and shut up…there are things in this world worth fighting for and freedom for all persons on this earth is one of them.

  • 18 Ms RightWing, Ink // Feb 19, 2007 at 11:55 am

How about a little Kung Foo fighting. The song that goes with this type of military defense makes for good dancing at the USO great together (doughnuts included)

  • 19 gafisher // Feb 19, 2007 at 12:03 pm

Re #16: you don’t honor the troops by dishonoring their efforts, their intelligence, or their mission. Empty Attaboys are not an honor, they’re an insult. And by the way, “harm’s way” is where these brave men and women give of themselves, so that we and our kids can enjoy the freedom they and those who carried our colors before them won.

On a purely personal basis, you don’t honor a soldier by selling his descendants into slavery.

  • 20 Darthmeister // Feb 19, 2007 at 12:33 pm

bober = the perfect dhimmie. You’re first in line for the Neville Chamberlain Award, so keep drinking the Kool-Aid™.

Just like a self-absorbed closet lib to want his grandchildren to fight the war that should be fought now with far less casualties. Out of sight, out of mind, eh?

  • 21 upnorthlurkin // Feb 19, 2007 at 12:34 pm

Don’t take the bait….the same old tired whining and no solution. These aren’t kids who were torn away from their high school proms against their will. They are men and women grown who knew when they signed up what they were getting into. They are the bravest, finest, best trained, (not to mention toughest) fighting force the world has ever seen! I say lets see a binding resolution to see this thing to the end!!

Don’t know who I’m borrowing this from but I heard it recently and really liked it; Democrats think our soldiers are children and a baby isn’t a person.

boberin #16: Since you bring it up, have you been to a VA hospital lately? Have you personally done anything to “show actual, useful, meaningful support for them and their families”? If so, would you care to share those experiences with us?

Shouldn’t the lib/socialist/whining dims who post on here be out doing something “useful” to their “causes,” instead of wasting time? Shouldn’t they be out encouraging some female to get an abortion, or donating money to Planned Parenthood abortionists? Shouldn’t they be out fighting for gay/bi/transgender rights and “partner” benefits? Shouldn’t they be out burning churches and/or Bibles in protest of faith-based initiatives? Isn’t there a “global warming” conference somewhere that they should be attending? Instead of coming here and insulting people, why not be the “useful idiots” that your leftist comrades need you to be?

  • 27 Darthmeister // Feb 19, 2007 at 2:14 pm

Who needs enemies when you have brain-dead Dhimmiecrats demonstrating their “patriotism”.

They’re already promising Iraq won’t be a bloodbath like Vietnam if we “redeploy” (Arabic for “cut-and-run”) to Okinawa.

    I support the House Democrats.

    …but I don’t support their mission.

    I support Hillary.

    …but I don’t support her mission.

    I support Obama.

    …but I don’t support his mission.

    The hollow sentiment:
    “I support the troops,
but not their mission.” is ridiculous.

    Let’s continue to ridicule it.
This nonbinding crap is a test run for the Dhimmicrats upcoming attack on funding of the war.

    I support Pelosi Galore.
but I don’t support her mission.

  • 31 Anonymous // Feb 20, 2007 at 1:15 am

The dhimmicrats need to cut to the chase and tell us what they really want. They want to redeploy the President. So why don’t they just cut funding to the President. This is what they ultimately want.
And we are losing American lives. This is unacceptable to the dhimmis, because American lives are more valuable than Iraqi lives. So, they need to tell us what the exchange rate is. How many Iraqis equal one American? I have asked all the racist dhimmis I have come across, and no one seems to know. C’mon everstink, you sound like a good Lebensborn, what’s the answer?
