(2002-10-11) — Democrat leaders in Congress warn that the Republic party’s focus on foreign policy will cost some Americans their jobs.
“The Iraq situation will have impact on employment,” said an aide to a Senate Democrat. “We know that a lot hard-working Democrat Senators and Representatives will be cleaning out their desks soon.”
DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe encouraged candidates in tight races to focus on the employment issue.
“The voters can relate to losing a job,” said McAuliffe. “They’ve been there, and they wouldn’t wish that on anyone…even their local incumbent Congressman.”
